the apple delivery dates are just 7 days from the estimated ship time.

once it's in the courier's hands, apple has nothing else to say about it.

if you're in the states, it'll go through anchorage...
usually it stays on the same plane...
then it heads to either memphis or indianapolis.
international orders seem to be going through indianapolis.

flight 24 is alreay well on it's way to indianapolis... it'll get there a little before midnight tonight.

THEN it has to get flown to the regional places, and then to the local fedex place. usually, the trucks pick stuff up from the regional centers (where the planes fly in).

SO, it's possible, but not terribly likely that some of us could start seeing these things on our doorsteps tomorrow morning.
For some of us in larger areas, where they may send trucks out more than once a day, a few of us will see them show up tomorrow afternoon.

this all depends on whether or not the packages make it through the international shipping stuff in time for the planes to get to the regional airports. THIS IS WHAT WILL MAKE THE DETERMINATION WHETHER WE'LL SEE THESE THINGS TOMORROW. i think they're usually pretty good about it, but it'll depend on how they get through customs etc.

i think that MOST of us will start seeing them on thursday.
Friday is the worst case scenario...

I don;t know, but does it ever come earlier than the "Delivery Date" it says on my apple email I got this morn? It says Nov. 20th for me, but I would love it on Friday!

If my credit card has not been charged (i purchased on line - 3GB RAM, 160GB HD) and the computers arrive at the APPLE store tomorrow.. Can I just cancel my (online) order and purchase a computer from the APPLE store? With no $$ penalty...?

cheers

yup, we're all on flight 24, shanghai to indinanapolis via anchorage.
(lands at IND a little before midnight... hopefully it'll make the regional flights that leave in the morning... (usually around 4-5.)

Well, according to that flight tracking page someone posted earlier the flight landed at 6:21 pm EST I think it was. It got there almost 4 hours early.

your card may have been charged... and the charge just hasn't hit your account yet... this happens occasionally... the bigger credit card companys update constantly... the smaller ones not as frequently.

but a temp authorization went back on my card shortly after shipping.
rest assured that apple charged your card at the same time they shipped.

also, some credit cards don't show the purchases until they totally post. but your available credit will usually change as soon as the charge is initiated. check that, not so much the posting of individual charges. those can take a day or so.

ok, if it already shipped, you'll have to return it and pay a restocking fee... it's not free. oh, and you'll prolly have your MBP before the stores get it.

oh, and don't be that sure that they'll show up at the apple stores tomorrow... if it's already shipped, your's will prolly show up tomorrow or the next day.

whether it's going to your house or the apple store, it's going by fedex. and they all seem to have shipped at the same time.

There is no charge on my card and the available credit is full. I had a temp auth that expired with no charge last week.

i'm pretty sure apple didn't forget to charge you.
did your's ship yet?

if it shipped, you'll have to pay a restocking fee.
(unless you bitch and moan like MrGadget)
then they'll prolly give you what you want just to shut you up.

but i seriously doubt that you'll get what you want faster by getting it from the store. oh, and getting the extra gig may be a little problematic.
oh, and not that many will be coming in (most going to people that ordered 3 weeks ago, like you), so there'll be a rush.

no, customs makes sure that all the taxes are paid.
and that no good stuff comes into the country, or that if it does, the taxes are all paid.

security, not so much their thing. PURE REVENUE.
and you're kidding yourself if you think the govnt cares as much about security as it does about getting it's money.

Hey customs protects you from terror so .......yea.

i'm not sure what they saw...
but it wasn't 4 hours early.
they could have been looking at the wrong day.
flight 24 was used to go other places yesterday.

http://www.flightstats.com/go/Fligh...e=fx&flightNumber=90&departureDate=2006-11-14

this info comes off the faa system.

Thanks for the site, Benk. I guess that other one must have had bad data but I am 99.9% sure it said Nov 14th. It said status: ARRIVED. Perhaps they didn't update "ARRIVED" from the landing in Anchorage.

tracking

My tracking number indicates that it left the sort facility in Anchorage at 2:14PM AKST (3:14pm PST), or almost 2 1/2 hours ago. I'd estimate it takes 5-6 hours to fly to Indianapolis, so it'll probably land in Indy around 12:15am local (9:15pm tonight PST). I'm somewhat unsure that I'll see delivery of my MBP to California tomorrow... but what a welcome surprise it would be.

11/14/06 02:14 pm | Anchorage, AK | Left Fedex Sort Facility
11/14/06 12:30 pm | Anchorage, AK | Arrived At Sort Facility
11/14/06 09:27 pm | Shanghai, CN | Left Fedex Ramp
11/14/06 12:22 pm | Shanghai, CN | Left Fedex Origin Location
11/14/06 12:20 pm | Shanghai, CN | Pickup Status

Here's to hoping. It's a possibility, but a slim one. Assuming it takes an hour at best possible speed to mass-clear them all through customs, I'm not entirely sure there's a flight that leaves for Oakland or San Jose that late (1:30am local, 10:30pm PST). But if there is, it'll make it to San Jose in 4 1/2 hours (3-4am local), which is early enough to be sorted and put on a truck.

Just spoke with MacMall and their date has been pushed to the 24th, so I will just resolve not to get mine until December. I will just keep enjoying my 17" Powerbook until then ;)

Don't forget to post those pics when you get yours please.

peace,
-Brian

My MBP has shipped as well. Must have been tucked in with all of yours on Flight 24 as it has already left Anchroage. I'm very excited!

Where have you guys been going to get your build week information? I went on Apple's site but the place I entered my SN into only gave me the number of days left on my Applecare.

Pretty cool tracking flight FX 24 with Google Earth. But somebody explain why the data makes it look like it is stair-stepping it's way towards Indianapolis. I can't imagine that the path between waypoints is that radical. It shows this on aeroseek.com as well.

Darkwing: They haven't charged my card either, and it's not a small company so I'm sure it's not that it hasn't posted yet. Oh well, I'm sure they won't forget ;)

Here you go....
I was just looking at the invoice and noticed that my 17"s serial number was on there. So of course I went to see what I could find out...

http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html

Production year: 2006
Production week: 45 (November)
Production number: 311 (within this week)

So (maybe) there are at least 310 other 17"s going out with mine :D

FedEx is still just showing "Package Data Transmitted" :(

So do we think our toys are on FX 24 or FX 14 (or both) FX 14 left ANC at 2:08 local. My tracking info says package left ANC at 2:14. Not sure how close the updates are to the actual flight departures.

Ok, admit it, how many others are watching the two planes fly across SK right now?

BTW, BOTH flights left 6 minutes late! Apple sucks!

(JUST KIDDING!)
