they did something strange: at 10:45 they changed the estimated arrival time to 10:34. hmmm... maybe it's already on the ground.

Yeah, that was probably the actual arrival time. So I see you're in the DC area, too. I'm in Fairfax county. Any luck figuring out the rest of the trip from here?

Wow, you guys are sick. Seriously, don't you have anything better to do with your time?

Every time I buy something cool, I think I'm not going to do this. But I always do it. I don't know how many times I've tracked boats coming here from Germany, flights coming in from all over, fedex vans, etc.

What can I say, once I buy something I just NEED it now. And everything else gets put on hold...

But in my defense, I am mostly tracking this at night while watching TV, etc. So far I haven't let it affect my work productivity. Well, not that much. :)

(of course, ironically I buy computer equipment to save me time and make me more productive. :))

Off to camp out at Apple Store...

I hope to get my hands on one at the Apple Store instead of waiting for mine to ship :D

Very entertaining thread indeed....can't wait for apple to put C2D Quad into these MBP!!!

Pretty cool tracking flight FX 24 with Google Earth. But somebody explain why the data makes it look like it is stair-stepping it's way towards Indianapolis. I can't imagine that the path between waypoints is that radical. It shows this on aeroseek.com as well.

the best place to track a flight is flightaware.com, and the odd path or curved path is because it is useing a great circle route. which when taking into account the curvature of the earth is the shortest path :D

shipping dates

so i know most of this discussion has been about when your pre order is coming, and we all know the planes are coming one by one. But has any one noticed that apple has changed their ship dates on the online store from "7-10" to "5-7". the interesting thing is that besides the typical "soon" answer that the local apple store gives, i once managed to get "a good test is we have them as soon as apple's online store says shippin out 1-3" so it looks like i will have to hold off for a week or so :( i need that new toy take it home and rip open the box feeling, i would go nuts watching the flight logs, and then it would come while i was at work, so i would still have to wait more.

Hahahah honestly the guy who said wait until they put Quad-Cores into the MBP, i literally laughed out loud.

Honestly, I was the same way when I was waiting for my 15" 2.33 C2D, mainly because I needed a computer to do my clinical write ups, and it was a free replacement for my 2.0gHz Core Duo MBP.

A free replacement from Apple is great, but waiting for it was such a killer time. I feel your guys' pain

17" MBP are in-country!

My MacBook's tracking number has been scanned in Indianapolis. Looking at past tracking histories of other macbooks, it looks like we arrived around the same time, and we should start seeing boxes clearing International Shipment Release shortly.

I think there is an -excellent- chance that those of us with expedited shipping in the CONUS will see macbook delivery Wednesday.

I really hope so, getting my macbook before I go to GenCon tomorrow would be an excellent end to the annoying twists this purchase has taken over the past month.

Looks like mine will languish in Indiana for another day. As long as I have it before the weekend I'll be tickled. :)

Actually, I think you'll see movement west tonight, assuming you got expedited shipping. Based on many previous tracking histories, you might even get it delivered tomorrow.

I'm hoping for mine.

I share your frustration! I got my TNT tracking number yesterday but they don't seem to know about it. I've heard the tracking is fairly dire with them so it's a case of checking every day or so to see if the choose to update the stats.
Friday will be an optimistic date, from what I've read of the trackings to the UK and Ireland I'd expect the MBP's to be in the country and ready for delivery by Saturday or Subday which realistically means Monday!

Well I did get expedited shipping, but I ordered on the 25th around noon. I don't think I will be getting mine as quickly as the folks who ordered on the 24th because it seems they've already passed through customs. I'm not sure how long that takes, so who knows.

I hope that it will be in the local TNT place on Fri so i can pick it up.
But.. might have to wait until sat, but might be able to pick it up then..

Se what Apple and TNT say later when i give them a ring

Aaaarrghh

All this tracking is just making my pain worse!!! Mine STILL hasn't shipped. Just try to consider the feelings of less fortunate folk when your 17"ers arrive will ya?

Although unboxing pics may be too much for me to resist a quick peek at...
