store.apple.com not up?

store.apple.com not up?
i was trying to check my status, and I can't get to it.
maybe nothing, maybe they're updating all our orders to "shipping?"

grasping at straws, i know, but when there's nothing else to grasp...

credit card same as 11/1... just a temporary authorization.
But sometimes posting charges can take a little time. (ok, seconds).

and yes, this IS a support group.

Hello everybody, my name is Ben, and i'm a macaholic.

10 minutes ago my available credit on the cc went down by EXACTLY the amount of the 17" order. Things are happening ???

This happened to me a week ago on my Apple card. They even called to confirm I authorized the charge. However, still shows nothing in the transaction field.

This morning, my credit card is showing a marked decrease in the available credit limit that more or less equals the purchase price of my 17" MBP so maybe something is happening. An actual transaction won't show up until tomorrow because my credit card company does transaction updates on a nightly basis whereas credit line limits are done real time.

Is this the second time you've seen this for this purchase? Because they will do an authorization before they ever do a charge. I had my authorization last week and the funds were released a couple of days later.

I am still seeing the same available funds, so from my perspective "nothing" is happening. :)

It is too bad that Apple doesn't give you detail on your order. I would love to see status like.
Order on hold until November 6th.
Order Check Credit Card.
Order Debited Credit Card.
Order Sent to Manufacutring
Order Manufactured
Order Sent to Custom Configuration.
Order Custom Configured.
Order Packaged.
Order awaiting to be shipped
Order Shipped FedEx Tracking Code #######

I would like to see a little more detail. At least this site has assured me that Apple just didn't skipped me, or give me low priority. But like an expecting parent I would love to know the stage of my MBP is.

scheduled to ship on the 7th

I talked to apple today. They said that it was scheduled to ship on the 7th. I made sure that it wasn't the estimated ship date; he insisted that that was the date it would be shipped on, as though it were sitting on a pallett waiting.

It's not interesting, but so far, it's all i've got.

i'll start checking the order status page CONSTANTLY this evening.

Has anyone else called apple?

This the post from last week? There was a lot of calling of BS on that post, since it was over a week before the first scheduled availability. The guy then claimed to be an Apple Store employee and to have placed an advance order, which lends more weight towards the BS call, since AS employees dont get advance notice.

I called them today too. They had me on hold a few times while they were checking. They assured me that it would ship tomorrow for what that's worth. I hope its true!

I called about my order and got the sam story. it will ship as indicated on the status page, Nov 8 in my case. He mentioned limited availability was the reason for the delay to the 10 days shipping quote at purchase and then upgraded my shipping to 2 days for free! Hopefully, I get it by Friday but I'm sure canadian customs will cause some delays.

Looking at the FexEx Contest thread. My best guess that they will be starting shipping at around 9:00PM-10:00PMEST Today. That is the time the 15" MBP were released. Hopefully they will be done soon. So they can travel all night an be here next morning or Wednesday.

Its now 12:11AM in UK on 7th Nov, therefore it is my shipping date.

It hasn't shipped yet, lets hope it does within the next 23 hours and 49 mins..

Remember it is only an estimated date and may not ship today*:(

The euro apple store assured me that despite my shipping date being 8th Nov and my delivery date being 15th Nov, that their system showed my ship date was 3rd Nov with delivery on 8th Nov.

Ive checked my order status obsessively to watch for the change ...which still hasnt happened. So, Im wondering? Does Apple UK get the shipment of macbook pros first, and then distribute them? That would explain the dates that the rep assured me were accurate!

This is interesting... Could the macs already be in the country?
Perhaps distributed around the various warehouses?

They could just be holding them to avoid a mad rush for which they cant' meet expectations? i'm not sure how the marketing would work on that.

Shipping lots of individual orders from china would be more expensive than shipping large pallets to distribution centers and then parsing them out from there. Of course, this is just random speculation.

This is inaccurate. Remember, for example, that custom engraved ipods ship direct from the factory in Shanghai. I'm sure FedEx doesn't charge apple more for that.

I work for a consumer electronics company. We ship a lot of pretty boxes that sit under TV's. We also get to take advantage of that "we ship a lot of stuff" fact and get crazy cheap rates on shipping. I shipped an external USB HD to my mom, from California to South Carolina, next day air, for $16. Apple ships way more stuff than we do.

That, and the fact that all of the 15" MBP purchasers that have been getting tracking numbers have been getting individual tracking numbers, not group numbers, and they originate in Shanghai.
