yeah, i know

2 things: when i talk to apple, they keep talking about the warehouse. of course, they could just be using the stock response. but also, that guy in europe, someone telling him that his shipment was on the 3rd... staging kinda makes sense... but then there's the multitude that have been shipped directly from china over the last several years. Can you tell i'm starting to go a little nuts waiting?

This is inaccurate. Remember, for example, that custom engraved ipods ship direct from the factory in Shanghai. I'm sure FedEx doesn't charge apple more for that.

I work for a consumer electronics company. We ship a lot of pretty boxes that sit under TV's. We also get to take advantage of that "we ship a lot of stuff" fact and get crazy cheap rates on shipping. I shipped an external USB HD to my mom, from California to South Carolina, next day air, for $16. Apple ships way more stuff than we do.

That, and the fact that all of the 15" MBP purchasers that have been getting tracking numbers have been getting individual tracking numbers, not group numbers, and they originate in Shanghai.

Ffs!!!

My order just changed from a Nov 6 shipping date to this:

"Apple have advised that your MacBook Pro 17 2.33GHz Intel/2GB/160GB/SuperDrive is currently on backorder. We are waiting on further shipment advice from Apple and will advise a more secure ETA as soon as possible"

Not happy.

Not happy at all.

You and me both, man.

I currently have this thread, another c2d mbp thread, and the order status page refreshing about every 30s.

And then there's my earlier post :)

When did you order your MBP? And did you order through a distributor or from Apple directly (which it doesn't sound like from your post)?

:( very :(

Was hoping to see ship notices tonight. On waiting list at local Apple Store, but it's not looking like they'll get any until at least some on-line ship notices show up.

but, day ain't over yet... ;)

You guys could still get yours on time, I ordered mine through work on the 27th, but the shipping date was still said to be Nov 6.

Not good news at all.

Yeah, that's not good news for the rest of us, either. I have a feeling (just a feeling) that a lot of us are in for some bad news tonight/tomorrow.

It's my fault. Our football team (the Redskins) beat our HATED rivals in the most improbable sequence of events I've ever seen in a football game. This after a major upturn for our company/business on Friday. And then after all that, I get home from the stadium on Sunday to find $50 in cash laying on our driveway.

I think I used up all the good karma I've got. I was thinking on my way home from the game that my MBP will probably get delayed a month now to even things up. I'll take it. :D

Mine is still reading as expected to ship on the 7th.
I'm going to wake up and this'll just be a bad dream...

It's already Nov 7 in Australia (and has been for 12.5 hours). Mine was supposed to ship yesterday on the 6th.

I'm seriously giving up this waiting game now.

I don't expect it to arrive this week.

Maybe not even the next.

:(

Thats not good news. I am in Aus to and my expected shipping is by the 10th, arriving by 14th. I was hoping it would be ready before that but i guess thats the end of that. I just keep looking at my empty laptop bag that is waiting to be filled. its driving me nuts

Is it possible that your supplier was just being a salesman and stating a date that wasn't possible? I mean, mine was ordered on the 24th, 3 days before yours and my date has always been the 7th.

I actually don't think the date you ordered matters that much. Apple has always said the 17" would be shipped later, and I was expected to get one from the first shipment to Oz, but I guess you're right, my supplier should be shot.

Hopefully you guys will receive positive news tmw.

I just checked Apple's site and my Nov. 7th ship date is still there. I also checked my bank account and they didn't charge me yet. I hope I wake up tomorrow to some good news.

I hope Apple doesn't let me down. I really don't want to start off my switch on a sour note.

It is 11:18 AM on Tuesday, November 7th, 2006 in Tokyo right now!!

I guess it's . . . 10:18 AM in Shanghai!!

So maybe the shipping, if it's going to happen, is going to happen within the next couple of hours.

The FLAGSHIP Apple Store in Ginza better have the damn thing tomorrow or I will have to cry myself to sleep -- again.

Well I would keep calm about the dates. These are New Systems right off the factory floor. I am anxious too about getting mine. And I am checking every few minutes. But it will come soon. So far Apple told you the release date, the never said which timezone. So I wouldn't be too disappointed if it gets shipped at 11pm hawaii time.

Initial demand trend

Anyone with experience ordering newly released Mac's in the past tell me when the initial demand tapers off? I want to order the 17 when I see "ships in 2 or 3 days" or abouts that. I can wait.

What you think.... after December, January?
Thanks

I don't get it? Why would you want to wait until it's 2-3 days and then order? Why not just order earlier and wait in the queue rather than out of the queue? Or are you waiting for them to get the initial bugs out?

It's nearing the end of the 7th here in Australia. I ordered within an hour of release on the web site, and was scheduled to ship on the 7th. No sign of shipping yet.....
