2 things: when i talk to apple, they keep talking about the warehouse. of course, they could just be using the stock response. but also, that guy in europe, someone telling him that his shipment was on the 3rd... staging kinda makes sense... but then there's the multitude that have been shipped directly from china over the last several years. Can you tell i'm starting to go a little nuts waiting?

This is inaccurate. Remember, for example, that custom engraved ipods ship direct from the factory in Shanghai. I'm sure FedEx doesn't charge apple more for that.
I work for a consumer electronics company. We ship a lot of pretty boxes that sit under TV's. We also get to take advantage of that "we ship a lot of stuff" fact and get crazy cheap rates on shipping. I shipped an external USB HD to my mom, from California to South Carolina, next day air, for $16. Apple ships way more stuff than we do.
That, and the fact that all of the 15" MBP purchasers that have been getting tracking numbers have been getting individual tracking numbers, not group numbers, and they originate in Shanghai.
