Well, it is a site concerning Apple products. I'd question the commenter who had no Apple products far more.

I also suspect this thread might have started in a different sub forum and was moved here.

Aye, would make sense if it was moved here.

People in this forum subsection tend to not have all apple products ;)

And wouldn't someone with no apple products probably have a better grasp on samsung? I'd wager yes. Many apple fanatics cant even take a clear look. They are just unable to

I was thinking the same thing. I haven't seen the OP in the alternative section before.

Well, it's pretty simple if you think about it:

-> Apple Devices don't get more affordable during a year.
So if I would want to get the Note and I can't? So what, I'm going to save good money for the few weeks I'm waiting. People even wait for it to get cheaper. Getting an iPhone later: You're just going to be late to the party and on top getting older hardware for the same money.

-> Apple's best skill? Marketing.
Look at the iPhone 6 event. Look at the Samsung S5 event. From a non-technical point of view: are you impressed? If you wouldn't know anything about phones, who would you believe this thing is the best thing ever? Samsung tries, but somehow their events end up weird. (despite their products being very interesting)

-> Apple is a trend.
For a lot of people the waiting for the iPhone is not just about the iPhone. It's about talking to people sharing the same interests and it's an event. Like a music festival. Or maybe more accurate: An internet trend like the ice bucket challenge. It's cool. (No pun intended ;) )

-> Apple is loved... by media
Own a news site. You have to generate clicks: Nothing (technical related) generates more clicks than: "New iPhone suffers from reception loss/Scratching/bending". So even if the news aren't all that good: Everybody knows there is going to be a new iPhone.. The new Samsung SWhatever? Not as many news (But they are catching up for sure).

Not questioning that they'd likely have a good grasp on Samsung products but rather would question why someone with no Apple products is hanging out and commenting on a heavily Apple focused blog/forum. Sadly more times than not it just screams trolling.

Yeah, this is a textbook example of trolling. Kind of sad, but I suppose some get a thrill out of it.

Me, I like my Samsung phones and am VERY excited about the Note 4. I like phones for how they improve my productivity and like to geek out about tech stuff and what new bells and whistles they have. Taking a step backwards technologically just to fit in with the cool crowd isn't my thing.

agreed.....we get a lot of the same in reverse here in the alternative section.
People who have only Apple products that want to stir things up by posting here....

I wonder if there are people who post in this forum who don't own any Apple products?

Of course there will be exceptions--someone who is brand new to Apple gear and looking to possibly get their first Apple device, or just the opposite, someone who recently switched and is looking for some perspective. But that being said, I'd say those are exceptions. Even most of the ardent Apple critics here in this sub forum generally all still have some Apple products.

I love all kinds of technology and gadgets but I don't hang out on forums for products I don't use or at least have some genuine interest in.

Yup, totally agree--and they're pretty easy to spot. ;)

Yes this is true, I still hold that this section is a gem of sorts, even for non apple folks. Other sites can be too anti apple for my tastes.

Pretty sure there are some good regular posters in here with no apple products. :)

no you wouldnt see that as Samsung customers know that Samsung can actually produce a decent amount of phones with no "manufactured" supply issues to create artificial panic. Difference between a company that actually manufacturers there stuff and one that well "designs" it and farms it out

I don't know if I would call 4 million units in 24 hours a "manufactured" supply issue.

Agreed--when on MR, this section is where I spend most of my time and I'm nearly fully back in the Apple bandwagon as far as personal device usage goes. It's very hard to find objective conversation online and this is one of the few place where it happens...on occasion. ;):D

Yeah I think so, to folk out yet another £575 is even too much for me. Guess it depends on the three contracts and how much they are.

going for white note 4.
Must admit that's tempting. But then in a year's time I'll most probably want the note 5 and will be stuck in a contract

Android buyers are smart enough not to wait in line for hours, for the same next thing :p

I would never in a million years, wait in a several hours long line for a technology device, no ***** way

If you have an iPhone 5, this iPhone 6 still does everything else the same with iOS8 on both devices, they text the same, make phone calls the same, read e-mails the same, etc... Why wait in a long line for pretty much the same thing again, on a slightly bigger screen ?

Plus, where's the fire ? Why the need to get it immediately ? If you have the 5 or 5S you've waited one to two years already, what's another few weeks longer, till it's in stock and can walk in a store and buy it right away.

I seriously think people are mentally handicapped, that would wait in a long line for a new phone. It looks so sad and pathetic, and 1st world problem. While people in other countries are waiting in line for fresh water, or for food to feed their families, we instead worry about having the latest new smartphone :(

I would never do it for a phone. Not when you just do it online. Those waiting in long for iPhone 5 to 5s was embarrassing

Apple doesn't release a lot of products per year in general.

Samsung releases a new product just about every month.

This will tend to dampen enthusiasm for the overall brand I would think.

I did this once and it kind of hit home watching the mall walkers look at me like I was a complete moron. Cue 3 hours later and Apple telling me they didn't have my model in stock and I REALLY knew I was a moron, never again, my time is worth more than that.
