I was optimistic about iPad Pro updates because the intro graphics video showed an iPad with keyboard, but I guess it turned out to be an iPad 10.2 with keyboard.

No MacBook Pro 16 announced so we must be getting another update soon. Maybe the iPad Pro in October?
At this point I'm not 100% convinced there will be an October event. I'm still hopeful that a silent update to the iPad Pros will happen though.

Or perhaps iPad Pros will get lumped together with new Macs for a combo October/November event? Mac Pro and 16" MacBook Pro. And ARM Mac?

How would we know if there is a silent update?

They wouldn't do a silent update, because no one would know about it. With Macs it's a bit different, they can mention new CPUs and new Radeons on the website, but with iPads, they don't really go into specs like RAM or CPU clocks, so literally no one would know unless they came out with an A13X update. But with that, they would want to talk about on stage. So I highly doubt there would be a silent update.

According to some rumours (which may just be false), there is no A13X, but there is a revised A12X. They could do something like marketing it as A12X Max, although of course that would be unprecedented.

Maybe I'm just trying too hard to will an update into existence. I'm prepared to wait a few months, unless Apple can finally discount the current Pros in Canada. Pricing at Apple and 3rd party retail for these is just ridiculous.

The classes have started, and I need an iPad. And I'm afraid I can't wait much more... It's a pity, but I think the 2018 Pro will be a good tool anyways. It just socks to not be able to have the latest and greatest iPad Pro. Damn...

If there is a new A12X (which would be weird - I mean.... why would they make a new A12X?) then what would they say on the page.... now with a new A12X chip? I mean, they will make a new iPad Pro and announce it on stage, this year or next. They will almost certainly not do a silent update with a revised chip or anything.

Also, am I the only one annoyed we got no smart folio colors for the 12.9”? Darn you Apple, I like white, but blue, red, green, or camel-back leather would rock.

They’ll probably do what they did in 2016 where they boosted storage options, but maybe also add RAM and some light updates.

If they are still on that 16" MBP, title tracking chip, new airpods, release date for the mac pro/xdr display...they will do 1hour-1.5 hour event in October for sure

Several new iPhone 11 series Geekbenches have been posted, and every one of them, including for the Pro and Pro Max, indicate that it’s 4 GB. Furthermore ksec states that Xcode itself indicates they’re 4 GB. Furthermore, it turns out that source the 6 GB leaker quoted is from a third party retailer, so not a good source at all.

I think at this point, in the absence of any other information, we can be pretty sure the iPhone 11 series is all 4 GB. However, I do think it makes sense for an AX chip endowed iPad Pro to have more RAM than an iPhone. While 4 GB RAM is perfect for an iPhone in 2019, 6 GB RAM seems perfect for an iPad in 2019, esp. at the eve of the launch of iPadOS.

You’re so adamant of it happening smh. iPadOS is still basically iOS 13 underneath. They know what they are releasing in their pipeline. If the pros really needed 6GB of RAM they would of included it in all models last year.

That’s not how Apple usually operates.

iPhone 6 with 1 GB
iPad Air with 1 GB

In both instances I waited one year and the next generation both went to 2 GB.

And both had 1gb for a while. You act like it lasted a year. If you want 6gb get the 1tb enough said and done.

No, my point was iPad Pros have been 4 GB for 4 years already.

Ok? And when did iOS ever need a lot of RAM? It never has and Apple knows this. They will add more when necessary. If they thought it was necessary they would of added it in all models. Apple could wait 2 MORE years and the device wouldn’t be throttled

Using your logic, the less RAM intensive iPhone 11 wouldn’t have been upgraded to 4 GB, from 3 GB in the XR.

You’re comparing an Apple to an orange. I’m comparing the same model line. They obviously want parity in all their phones. The only differences in the 11 and pros is the screen and camera basically. I might of glossed over some other stuff but that’s the big differences

This is a clear misconception. The OS didn’t need RAM cause it could do less. Now that it’s going to be able to do much more, it will need more RAM: Future IOS updates may improve external monitor support and increase the possibilities of multitasking. Then refreshes are going to become a real issue, even with 4GB RAM. Not now, but in a couple of years...

Apple’s PowerBooks in the early 2000s could run a 30” monitor fluedly while topping out at 1.5GB RAM.

They surely don’t need more than 4 GB to run two screens individually now.

It’s not a matter of running 2 screens, it’s the multitasking you can do with 2 screens. Also the internet at that time did not require as much RAM as today. The closer the ipad gets to a desktop OS the more RAM it will need. Desktop OSs mainly use paging, which slows down the system but preserve data, IOS uses compression and memory ejection, which does not slow down but can cause data loss

Nothing is set in stone, and no one knows. remember those are rumors as its still rumor season. October events are not common. Spring 2020 events happen every year. That event the earliest.

If they are serious about macs...October event will happen. If they are not ready than WWDC2020
