A lot of my "fun" stock is in Apple, that's why I like to buy their competitors stuff. Without the competition Apple would be nowhere near where they are today.
Without competition there would not be innovation, but it still took Steve Jobs vision to bring the first iPhone to market.
When I first saw my brother's iPhone, I knew what I wanted. It was so intuitive to use and configure compared to all the different phones I had up till then with their stupid drill down menus. Went to the Apple store and got my first iPhone, by the time I walked out the door I had it down pat. Now the innovations are much more refined and the differences are getting smaller. I currently have an 6s, but would love to have the X, awfully hard to justify. Hoping the stock keeps going up, then I can.

Bloomberg suggests Apple has lost its supply-chain mojo over iPhone X

The problem began, he says, when Apple decided to make the switch to OLED.

The decision to go to a near-bezel-free design forced it to develop another new tech – a Touch ID sensor that would work through the display – followed by yet another one when that plan didn’t work out.

... it’s hard to see what else Apple could have done. At this point, it was starting to be embarrassing that it hadn’t yet adopted OLED; all the other flagships had adopted near-bezel-free designs; and there were big expectations from a 10th anniversary model. It simply wasn’t a realistic option for Apple to push out yet another minor iteration on previous models. The iPhone 8 could not have been this year’s flagship iPhone.

Your rant aside, if you've used iOS for an extended period then using Android is an exercise in frustration. Android simply isn't as intuitive as iOS.

On the contrary, basic things like menu hierarchy on iOS are utterly confusing. Apple must've outsourced the work done on Accessibility menu hierarchy overseas because whoever they were have no clue as to the context of 'Accessibility' which are aids for people with visual, hearing, etc. impairments so non-accessibility options such as reduce transparency, reduce motion, etc. shouldn't be buried in there when someone is looking to optimize iOS from lagging.

Looks more like an opinion piece, but he raises interesting points nonetheless.

The Verge:
What if the iPhone 8 Plus is better than the iPhone X?

It's stuff I've been mulling myself. There seriously isn't a big advantage to the X if you're a Plus user. In fact, the advantage really boils down to aesthetics. The problem for me and many others is it's a brand spankin' new iPhone form so it's hard to pass up.

Honestly, the thing that makes the Pixel 2XL so frustrating is that it clearly has superior software to iPhone. Pure android right now is a joy to use.

It's not even a contest. Overall, Android Oreo is leagues better than iOS 11.

iOS still does most things fine and well, but when comparing, Android walks over it. With the exception of one or two minor things, everything in Android Oreo flows, makes sense, feels intuitive and natural, is fast, feature-rich, stable, and still highly customizable. And it does all this while looking really good; Android O's design aesthetics and animations are all on point.

It really is a shame about Google's hardware.

I can’t wait for Samsung to deliver the BlueBorne fix to my S8+ so that I could finally take it into full use. Granted, I’ll be missing the Apple Watch a bit, but I won’t be missing iOS 11’s horrible battery life on my iPhone 7.

iOS 11 is quite a blunder on Apple's part. But, then again, most of their OSs are pretty rocky in the .0 release.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Ok, so I’ve made my allegiance, I have a voucher card for John Lewis on the way saving me 5%, and I should be able to get around £240 for my old 6S although Music Magpie are currently offering £258!!

So I am going to buy the 7 Plus, well give it a go anyway, the screen is very good on it, plus it should mean I only pay around £480 to £500 for the 128GB model.
To me I am happy with that, I can’t really justify north of £800 on a phone really and will feel stupid I think? I mean the standard iPhone 8 255GB is £850 in the UK with no discounts! That’s only 20 quid of the RRP of the Note 8!!

So.........

My HUGE DILEMA is White and Silver, or Black and Matt Black????

What do you think? I’ve had two white and silver 6S now and the standard iPhone 7 in black and silver...

Hmm really stuck, possibly leaning more towards the Matt black??

Oh and does anyone know of a really good high quality screen protector for the 7 Plus?

Yeah don’t get the Matte or Jet Black. I think it may have been my case but small discoloured spots developed on the back of my matte black 7 Plus which stick out like a sore thumb and I have seen cases on Apple’s support communities and the forums here with even worse discolouration than mine. No problems with the gold iPhones I have.

So tonight's the night. I got my bases covered as well as I can. Gonna place an order at midnight like every other lunatic, and theres a VZW rep who is going to order for me in their system tomorrow morning. Whichever ship date is sooner is the keeper.

I'm going with silver 256gb.

I'd get silver it looks better with ios UI plus the Matte Black discolours very easily with time.

Thanks for the advice, I did see people’s saying the black chips too. So may stick to silver and white.
My black iPhone 5 back in the day ended up with edges that looked like they lost a fight with a chisel!!

What more does one need to do to pre order? It's been a while since I've pre ordered an iPhone...

Nothing. If you followed the steps suggested with the Apple Store app, made sure all your CC info is up to date and valid, that's about all you can do. The rest is timing and luck.

Thanks. I think I'm all set to go.

Goodness, after taxes, the 256GB version is nearly $1250. Insane.

Now, now, don't forget AppleCare and a case to keep that glass beauty from shattering into pieces when you drop it.

Ironically that is more than I paid for my 2017 Surface Pro with i5/8G/256G! (before adding AppleCare)

Dont really need a case when you have Apple care.
