They're currently going for about 2K. But honestly, it doesn't look like there's a lot of interest in mine. Maybe because of my Nov 10 arrival date. I have no problem leaving them up until closer to the date. Maybe someone will bite then.

Do you have them listed on eBay already?

Based solely off the graphic, I was initially a bit surprised. However, after thinking about it, really makes sense. As large a company is with such a successful flagship product, the other companies here are even more dominant in there respective areas.

The iPhone is the best selling smartphone in the US but it’s still below 40% market share. The Mac has a far smaller % of the computer market. On the other hand, Amazon is the overwhelming leader in online retail and it’s not even close. Google has a near monopoly in internet search and Google services are likely used more than anyone else. MS Office and Windows are still ubiquitous. Any of those 3 disappear and there are giant holes in there respective areas. If Apple disappeared, yes it would be noticeable but we could all transition to one of their competitors without too much difficulty. Coupled with hr fact that Apple’s image has really transitioned from underdog 15-20 years ago to a greedy bully in many people’s eyes and those sentiments expressed In the graph seem pretty accurate.

My Nov 10 delivery just got changed to Nov 3!

Mine too, for both models!

Wow. Maybe supply isn't as bad as it was made to be?

All true. I think the competition has also changed some people's perception of Apple, too.

Maybe it is due to the demand outside of US is not as good due to much higher price outside the US.
The iPhone is selling at US$1250 for 64gb model where I am at. I came to know quite a few existing iPhone users lamenting the price and decided not to get the X.

Or, maybe demand isn't "off the charts" after all. This thing was supposed to be nearly non existent until well into 2018.
Didn't I read that after the lukewarm sales of the iPhone 8 Apple told suppliers to cut back production of the iPhone X?
I think Apple saw the coming. I thing sales will be off the charts in the US. But at the price point the X has....make not some in other countries. I mean it is an expensive phone.

In fairness to Apple, they're not the ones who projected insane supply constraints. It was the tech blogs that promised that would be the case. If they got that wrong it's pretty janky to claim this means there's a problem with Apple sales. I mean, the device's shipping time slipped to 6 weeks in a heartbeat. That doesn't suggest sales aren't where they're supposed to be.

It’s still 5-6 weeks on new orders...that isn’t exactly around the corner. At that rate, any orders not placed in the next 2-3 weeks won’t arrive before the end of the year.

I think they cut back production of the iPhone 8 by half, not the X.

I’d say it’s been quite a muted reception here in the UK. It’s the first iPhone launch I can remember where I don’t know a single person preordering the latest iPhone device.

I’ve seen an article claiming the X sold out in minutes but nobody really knows what the allocation was to begin with. The Guardian wrote an interesting article about the bigger picture suggesting the poor sales of the 8 so far is the biggest concern. Apple need the 8 to do well in the UK to prop up the void the X will leave. At the moment the focus is on the X but we all know it’s not going to be the mass contender here. The price has been a major blow I think.

How is the note 8 doing?

That’s another device where I’ve never met anybody that owns one, but again I think price plays a major part even if the Note 8 has already dropped in price. You can pick it up for around £700 already and contracts are competitive. The S8 is pretty popular I’d say and I think those in the market for a Galaxy tend to choose that. Not everybody is bothered about S Pen features when the screen size of the S8 fulfils the larger screen demand.

I’d still say the iPhone is king in the corporate world, but the newer models not so much. I think people and even companies are keeping phones longer and this pattern has formed due to minor incremental updates and rising prices. This is just my observation though, but I’d like to think I see a good segment of smartphone user in my line of work. I’ve certainly noticed a shift in the last 2 years.

I don’t know anyone that owns a note 8 either. But it’s right up there in price although the price-value equation is hotly debated. Delta committed to replacing its windows phones with iPhones; to your point about iPhone being king in the corporate world.

The launch price was very similar I agree, but the Note 8 dropped in price within a couple of weeks of going to market. I previously said you could pick it up for around £700, but after a quick google it’s a lot less than that.

If the iPhone X pricing dropped like this then we’d be laughing. I’d buy one a month after release no problem. Apple won’t do this though and keep prices stiff for nearly a full 12 months.

Despite the Note 8 being fairly cheap, I still don’t know anybody that’s bought one. I know quite a few with the S8 though.

Just got tracking info for my X. Still can't believe I got Nov 3.

Mine are both 'in store pickup' so I won't be getting any tracking updates. Still undecided if I'm going to try to flip them or not--market doesn't seem quite as ravenous as it might've been and not really interested in doing all the work for just a few hundred $. I might just cancel my preorders outright---have no desire to grab one for myself. Well, that's not exactly true but not $1000 worth of desire. ;)

I have a feeling I won't be flipping mine for enough profit to make it worth the trouble. Waiting to see if any of this changes after Nov 3rd. If it's a no go, I have no problem opening them to try what the "next generation" smartphone is supposed to feel like. ;)

I want nothing to do with an Apple store when a new iPhone is launched. I would have taken a later shipping date if that was the only alternative to a Nov 3 in store pick up.

It's actually a pretty quick and painless process now. You select a pickup time (30 min window) at preorder, show up, have your phone run out, sign to acknowledge receipt and you're on your way.

That being said, I would've taken delivery to my home but it was already pushed back to 2-3 weeks. In-store pickup on Nov 3 was still an option so took that instead.
