Wall Street journal says Apple will ditch Lightning connector for USB C in the iPhone 8.
Yeah, go read the front page story on it---the Apple fanatics are losing their **** over the prospect of this change.
I'd personally love to see it but I also highly doubt Apple will do it. The benefit of this change lies solely with the consumer--Apple has nothing financially to gain doing this, thus why I'd be willing to wager a sizable sum of money against it happening. Bottom line is the driving force at Apple and this doesn't improve that.
I will admit though that Apple following through on this switch would be a step in the right direction towards improving my faith in the companies direction---just a step but, at least a good start.

"t's important to note, however, that in the scope of the report a failure means a device not functioning as intended, no matter the reason"http://www.phonearena.com/news/iPho...an-Android-devices-according-to-study_id91587
iPhones fail much more often than Android devices, according to study
according to device diagnostics firm Blancco: in a recent report, it claimed users of Apple's mobile devices experience a failure rate of 62 percent, which is a staggering difference when compared with Android's 47 percent.
I think these are the same folks that publish this report every year.

I won't be happy if the usable area if the screen is only 5.1 inches. This seems like a new source that also suggests there will be three iPhone models this year.
Apple again said to be releasing iPhone 8 w/ 5.8-inch OLED display & two smaller LCD models this year

I wouldn't be a happy Apple iPhone fan right now. Seems more and more evident that the iPhone we finally all want will be another tier up. A brand new tier, at the highest price imaginable.
And it might not even launch until later in the year, if that other rumor is true.
I won't be happy if the usable area if the screen is only 5.1 inches.
Honestly I'm tempted to keep my 7 plus and rock a S8 plus. Obviously my opinion could change come September but the 5.1 inch usable screen is putting me off big time. I want bigger screens and if it's between a 5.1 and 6.2 screen it's a no brainerI am now considering switching to Android more then ever, fed up with Apples poor quality displays, my Nexus 5 STILL has a better screen then the iPhone! It's crazy, I wonder if they'll even bother to boost the resolution on the new OLED devices.
I refuse to pay double the price of my iPad Pro for a bigger screen phone with an up to date screen, which is what all the rumours say, so I may well give the G6 a go, after I've allowed any bugs to be sorted on it, at least when Android gets an update, unlike iOS, it doesn't break the sync to my car... But it will mean losing Touch ID and a default browser that supports as blocking add on's...
Hmm yeah am definitely thinks it about it more then ever.

I've been using a Pixel now for 4 months. I still miss Safari with content blockers as well as the password manager add-on in Safari and other apps.
I can't find a good browser that allows me to run in private mode all the time with content blockers. YuBrowser is close and also has gestures to swipe left to go back and swipe right to go forward, but it was causing my phone to freeze and then restart.
Also with chrome when posting here on MR, if I went to another tab to look something up, then came back to the tab, it wouldn't allow me to type anything here unless I closed the browser and reopened it.
I'm now using Firefox with uBlock Origin installed. None of the above issues exist, but Firefox is extremely slow and the scrolling is so choppy. I wish Android had better web browsers but in my opinion Safari with a content blocker installed is the best mobile browsing experience you can have, the scrolling is so smooth and it loads fast. If this is a lot of your use, I can't say Android would be any better for you.
I've heard good things about the Samsung default browser so I may consider trying out an S8 to see how that works for me. If not, I will have to think about moving back to an iPhone.
