Wait...

This isn't a joke?

Also I got my first phone when I was 12-13. A Nokia 3310 or some variant. Only reason I had a phone was because I had/have a disability and use an electric wheelchair. Should there have been an emergency at any point with my health or chair getting stuck, I'd have needed to call for help.

Just to clarify, the child is quite a bit older than 4, I just mentioned Apple's age rating, that they technically think the image is ok to be forced on a 4 year old child.

No offense meant to Dolly Parton I'm sure she's a great person.

Ok fair enough, it seems I'm being a bit silly here, sounds like the image isn't that bad. Thanks for the replies.

Some women have big boobs, that fact is not going to scar a 4 year old.

Nothing inappropriate about the photograph in any way shape or form. However what is completely inappropriate is to give a four-year-old a phone.

And to answer your question, yes absolutely you are massively overreacting to the photograph.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. As a protective parent I don’t want my kids exposed to inappropriate material. However her dress is completely appropriate. But it is highly inappropriate to give a 4 year old a phone. 🤦 Some parents these days.

I'm trying to figure out if I'm overreacting here. I open up the Apple Maps app and search for something, and this Guide pops up.

Dolly Parton in a skimpy low-cut red outfit, with her huge fake breasts. Right in my face. Apple Maps is rated for ages 4+.

I'm trying to keep this sort of porn-y content away from someone in my family for as long as I can. I know it's a losing battle and I'm probably wasting my time. I think I'll have to move everyone in my family off of Apple products if this keeps happening.

Am I overreacting or do you think this is a bit over the top on a Maps app?

Is there any way to disable Apple's forced Guides?
It’s not appropriate if you’re located in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

I don't think they were ever fake.

I don't think there is anything wrong with that photo for any age.

If you think that photo is bad for a young a 4+ child, you should check out the Katy Perry Sesame Street episode, where she and Elmo sang together:

There's far, far worse on tv, facebook, instagram, TikTok...
Nothing inappropriate about that photo.

If a child is too young to be seeing that in your view, then they're surely too young to have a smartphone?! Why not just get them a basic call/text phone?!

Nothing wrong.

It seems that some people have it in their minds that big boobs = inappropriate. What's she supposed to do with them? She's showing about as much cleavage as any other woman.

I passed Dolly Parton in the Nashville airport when I was younger. She was being taxied on some sort of cart driven by a dude. I remember I recognized her and waved at her and she waved right back. She’s a spectacular lady.

She‘s a national treasure for who she is and what she does. If your kid can’t handle an image of a wonderful woman, artist and philanthropist, then you’re bad at parenting. Period.

The photo of Dolly is fine, but not sure that this is appropriate.

It‘s super easy. Dolly Parton is a pillar of her community. She‘s beautiful. She’s got the voice of an angel. She’s down to earth. With all her fame, she will look you in the face and shake your hand. She’s not some random grotesque Disney creation.

So yeah, help your kid differentiate between Dolly and the ubiquitous garbage they’re exposed to every day. All you gotta do is tell your kid the truth. She’s golden. She’s a role model. And she’ll damn well dress the way she wants to.

A 4 year old can't comprehend appropriate or inappropriate. Their parents make that decision for them.

Yes OP you are overreacting in my opinion. There is nothing inappropriate about that photo at all. I'd let a kid of any age view it.

Nah, you're overreacting. For a 4 year old, breastfeeding isn't that long gone. Also, I wouldn't even call that picture erotic or something. No child is going to see anything sexual in this - that's only in your head.

Apple is probably one of the most prudish companies in the free world, I wouldn't worry about them.
