Trust me, you’ll be in M1 iPad heaven once WWDC is over ????

The iPad will never be the same again ?

Lol you’re going to have some serious explaining to do next week if the M1 iPad Pro isn’t getting its own OS.

You can actually install the game on any iPad with A12 minimum. The game will refuse to play though.

I don't think the App Store currently has a way of limiting its compatibility list based on graphics performance.

It limits the ability to buy or download it. This is what that app looks like from my iPad Pro 10.5 even after I bought it on the M1 iPad Pro. Note that even the cloud/download is grayed out (as was the ability to purchase prior to buying it on the M1).

As a software developer, I'll wait what is going to be with WWDC and M1 iPads. If there's going to be better ways to code with iPads, I'll buy one. If not, MBA M1 it will be.

Apple could just let minimal MacOS run in a container, just like Crostini in ChromeOS. In that way, you could install MacOS apps (even GUI apps) and other tools what is needed. It would be sandboxed, so security would be ok.

Be cool if you could do that with both MacOS and Windows actually!

I guess you also could think of no other reason for the RAM configurations in the 2018 model either. What Pro apps did those users get? The answer is nothing.

With the 6GB of RAM, there were two Devs (Adobe & Procreate) that updated their apps with additional abilities tailored to 6GB RAM models. This did not apply to the 2018 model, however it did apply to last years model.

Procreate got more Layers on the 2018 6gb too after updating the app.

I never said it's getting it's own OS ?‍♂️ I said it's getting pro apps, if you're waiting for macOS on a iPad, then a iPad isn't for you.

Can you please show me where I said iPad is getting macOS?

I bought mine on an Air 3. Apple's official compatibility list shows iOS 14.2 on A12 Bionic so any iPad with A12, you can buy and install. You just get the attached message.

Yours is iPad Pro 10.5 which is A10X so not on Apple's official compatibility list. It won't install on my A10X iPads, either.

They are all looking at the new M1X macs. That’s why the M1 iPad came now, to clear the way for M1X.

I expect final cut and logic coming to the ipad, simply because there have been hints of the new subscription model for them. That’s exactly what this ‘current’ Apple likes, more subscriptions, more monthly income.

I don’t expect anything more, especially not Xcode. At the absolute best there may be a slightly upgraded version of swift playgrounds, but it won’t be anywhere near Xcode level, that just cannot work without major changes to the way iPadOS runs. Certainly wouldn’t come in one iPadOS update given the amount of past improvements.

Anything less than VM support or macOS support is meh to me at this stage. I’m sure there will be another stepping stone in the right direction but I’m not paying to jump to it, there’s a lot more stones needed for me before I’m buying another iPad Pro.

I’d be less hung up about the iPad if Apple could just bring some new form factors to macs ? It baffles me why Apple haven’t even got an iMac like device that works with the Apple Pencil yet. Crazy…

If FCP and Logic Pro X apps are revealed, does anyone think Apple will release a subscription based model?

Maybe bundle it up with a few others, they seem to be driving the Sub bus a lot… and loving! brings in buckets of revenue for them.

I never said you did. I'm not sure how a couple of pro apps are going to "make the iPad never the same again." A couple of apps aren't really going to make much of a difference. And if there are Pro apps, they will work on all of the iPad Pro's.

If that happens I don’t think that’s gonna be what some had in mind. A one-time purchase, yeah.

Oh believe me, I will be watching. I hope it does but if not you will have a little bit of explaining to do around here.
I’ll be here ? like I said pro apps are coming and more, the beast that is iPadOS 15 is coming and things will never ever be the same again ?

If you think it ends there, boy oh boy are you mistaken, wait till you see the new redesigned MacBook Pro, it’s going to blow your socks off, you’ll be lining up for 3 years at your nearest apple store just so you can get one. ?????

Mate I’m telling you once Tim Cook comes out on stage and says these words ? everyone will be buying a M1 iPad and iPadOS 15 will have a 100% adoption rate. ?

Lol you seem very sure of yourself @LFC2020

i agree it’ll be an interesting WWDC this year, especially since not much is leaked.
with M1, Macs and iPad platforms are going through exciting evolutions.

I had lost most of my excitement over the last few years with apple because everything was getting so stale (less so for the iPad but for almost everything else)
- Macs : very few design changes except for crappy ones like butterfly keyboard, incremental updates
- iPads : made more exciting since the redesign and iPadOS13. Before it felt like it was a product on the decline.
- iPhones : still pretty stale in my view, but that’s smart phones in general. Just overall boring now.
- Apple Watch : great product but not enough serious competition so in terms of innovation it’s very very slow to make significant steps forward.

Tim Cook will solve your problems once WWDC rolls around ? Sure is interesting that not much has been leaked, going to be a exciting event.
