I started with the iP5, enclosed in an Otterbox Defender w/ glass screen-protector (I have a 12-mini enclosed in a OD+GSP, now).

I carry it in the small of my back with the belt clip.

Work outside in some rather harsh conditions, and it's not uncommon for me to find myself backed into a masonry wall, a muddy trench, or some sort of steel machinery.

The screen protector has alleviated most of my squeamishness over getting dirt/mud rubbed-into the face of the phone.

I do remember one day when I was in a hurry-up moment, and I distractedly reached to get the phone off the back-clip, which sent it flying/tumbling about 13m across a tarmac surface . . . upon retrieval, the case had a few scratches, but the phone was intact.

As beautiful and perfect as my 12-mini was when I first peeled-back the cellophane protector upon receipt, all I now physically know of it is by-virtue of the light emitted from the gorgeous OLED screen ;)

My AW6, on the gripping-hand, has always been naked. Its superficially-blemished veracity (in the face of all the abuse to which I daily submit) is a testament to the robustness of the ceramic-glass tech.

I can't really comment on what my phone would look like (or how well it would have weathered) had it been naked from the get-go; but, if a belt-clip product existed (sans-case), I might choose to use that.

Until then, I'm entirely convinced of the necessity of keeping it wrapping it in an OD, and will continue to forget about scratching, etc., et al., &c.

Always buy a case then always end up caseless. Once you get used to going without a case it's "easy" and safe. I also have AC+ for piece of mind.

Same for me. Always a clear case from spigen, an Apple product red silicone and an Apple Leather. And I will always finish caseless 💸

If my occupation was similar I'd also be using a case. I've always been a non-case user (as many here know), but since 1999 (before I even had a cellphone), my current career has been all about me sitting in front of a computer screen all day. I can afford to not use a case because I am not working around machinery or in the elements.

So, in situations like this I begrudge no one using a case.

I generally prefer no case and that’s only because for some reason sometimes when I pull my phone out of my front pocket it’s got a bunch of fine white dust on it. Kinda like lint but almost powdery. And when I have a case on my phone the dust/lint has nowhere to go. I can wipe the screen on my shirt but then it all just gets pushed to the border of the screen.

But after explaining to my daughter why I dislike letting her use my phone a.) it’s expensive and b.) it takes so much time to set up all my apps and work stuff (ashes dropped her iPad at least a dozen times and it has a crack across the entire screen) she was like “well…shouldn’t you have a case if it’s that big of a deal. I look at my wife, she looks at the kid and says “thats what I keep telling him”. So I got peer pressured into getting a case lol

As said many times, there is no correct answer to this thread. If people want to go case-less and it works for them, go for it. If someone like me regularly drops their phone and uses it in industrial situations where it could get damaged, use a case. Some of us dislike the feel of holding an iPhone without a case and that’s perfectly ok, as is not liking a case etc. This thread seems to be a battle of people trying to convince others that their preference is the correct way and those people are totally wrong. It’s simply down to personal choice and needs.

I use a case on all of my apple devices. I go w. Otterbox Defender. If I'm spending a big chunk of change on an item I'd prefer to keep it intact. I bought a case for a family member's device and they said "I don't need that". 2 hours after I put it in the case we were walking across a parking lot and they did an ADC, accidental gravity check. The device hit the asphalt and bounced several times, ending up about 6' away. The person said "Well, there goes that.". AAAND they were wrong. Still worked fine.

I've always used the LifeProof FRĒ (now OtterBox) on my iPhones.

They keep the device immaculate and protected, without adding too much bulk. I just like keeping my iPhones in perfect condition...always have done.
Hi, does the MagSafe ring inside the LifeProof damage or mark up the back of your phone ? Are you still using this case ? I may switch to this to prevent dust

I believe that it's more people thinking their own opinion is the only correct choice.

Ex: Lots of people say "I use a case because the phone is slippery." Well, it may be slippery for THEM - but it is not for me.

Ex: Lots of people say "I use a case because I take care of my things/stuff." That automatically implies that those who do not use cases are abusing their things/stuff simply because they do not use a case.

Ex: Lots of people say "I use a case because I protect my phone!" Again, an implication that non-case users are not protecting their devices and/or that by not using a case it is guaranteed that you will drop it and break it.

I don't care if people use cases or not. I just have a problem with people making assumptions and judgements about ME not using a case.

What’s the general view about Benks arimid fibre vs Pitaka? Which do folks think is best?

I wish apple would sell a case that also covers the front. I dont see the point of a case if it doesnt protect the glass

I adored the Apple folio case for my iPhone XS years ago. Great quality leather, protected the screen, closing it turned off the phone, and held a few cards. I hope they bring it back for future iPhones.

Screen protectors.

I prefer 2 piece cases now which encase the entire phone and have built in screen protectors.

Presently no I am not using a case despite me just getting this iPhone yesterday.

However I am reconsidering it because I did accidentally drop it on the floor. Thank god it didn’t crack and I did r see any scratches yet. It slipped out of my hand.

You know what they say, you learn once to not drop ever it again... by dropping it hard one time. You'll automatically be more mindful now since it had you shook that you couldve easily shattered your iPhone and it's an expensive device.
Unless you're naturally a clumsy, then I'd advise a case. :p but you'll never feel that cold glass and steel in your hands ever again. Although Leather cases would be the next premium "step down" in terms of feel in your hand.

So I also use this case and have done so for about two maybe three months now. The MagSafe ring inside the back of the case does not mark nor damage your phone. There is no dust under the screen nor the camera lens either.

I considered going caseless while at home, but I now have a medical condition where I am prone to falling, thus making my decision to use a case a necessity for me. I fell last week when I lost consciousness, and my phone flew out of my hand on the concrete several yards from where I fell. I’ll be using a case for good here on out.

i only tend to take my phone out of my case when its been in the pool and i need to shake it dry. i do prefer it being in the case for safety, but wehn its out, it does look so much better!

Wow! I hope you get better soon!

Yeah a case is definitely a must in that case. Because it would be a pain to get everything replaced/fixed if you shattered it.

I’m completely careless at this point—don’t even own one. I did go with the glass screen protector though. I didn’t use one on my 13PM, and I had tiny micro scratches all over it. It wasn’t the biggest deal—I wasn’t sweating resale value or anything like that—but it just didn’t have the shiny new look to it any more. Since it doesn’t take long at all for a screen to get to that point, I’m giving the prophylactic a try on my 14PM. Let’s see if I leave it on.

Thank you. Even though I have AppleCare, I would have to find time to make an appointment and then have to pay for parking, which is hard to find at my closest location. I‘d rather not deal with that inconvenience.
