We all know that getting a new iPhone is a life-changing, earth-shattering, time-stopping event! 😅

But the question of the millennium is: will you protect your new baby this year with a case, or let it roam free in the wild concrete jungles of life?

I’m a no-case guy and proud.

iPhones these days are almost indestructible in my experience and they are too beautiful as objects, and feel so good in the hand, that it’s not worth it for me.

AppleCare+ is also there in case something unfortunate happens. Happily though I have never smashed any of my iPhones.

But in life, a lot of friends and even randoms have gasped about it and thought I was mad. 😅

Excited to see how the poll goes.

I’ll buy a Snakehive case as usual but I won‘t always use it, it always depends on how I feel

For me, it's as much about safety / protection as it is about using a case's built in kickstand to prop it up for horizontal or vertical viewing. I can't even picture what using a phone without a kickstand would be like.

Eek! I didn't see that thread. 😲 I did go back through several forum pages searching and saw nothing - and now can see that thread is a pinned topic which completely passed me by.

I guess the moderators can close this one if they wish!
The topic never dies, so I guess the mods decided to make one thread and sticky it at some point.

Haven't used cases on any of my phones. First smartphone was 2009, but not an iPhone. 2012 was my first bought by myself purchase, the iPhone 5. So if we are counting from there, it's been 11 years without cases.

In that time I have dropped exactly two phones seriously enough to merit repair/replacement.

Got it today.

The case is great, with good grip, it will stay on all the time. The phone with the case on charges on the wireless chargers I already have without any problem.
It works on the ones with lightening contact too with a little hassle, but not more than any other devices with lightening, really.

Not sure if I like the wallet though.
With it on, the phone doesn't charge. So it goes on and off.
it take 3 cards, I usually have 4 with me. The magnets are not that strong either, ah well...

I took my iPhone caseless and without a screen protector this weekend camping in the mountains for 4 days. We hiked 3 miles each way over rocky, dusty, wet and elevated terrain and I was checking the weather and taking photos. Camped in tents and placed my iPhone wherever it could lay on. Layed it on the grass, on a table, on a chair, in a chair's cupholder, etc.

Got back yesterday and cleaned my iPhone and discovered no scratches or anything.

I did probably the riskiest thing to do with this iPhone and it came out unscathed. Pretty awesome IMO.

I've always wanted to do this with a smartphone and see if it would be scary to use or to baby. Turns out I'm never buying a case or screen protector again. Who knew!

Good on you, inspiring and uplifting account of your camping trip! I’m a strong believer of letting the phone live the elements, even if I still use a case on rare risky occasions… and for color and style sometimes, but that’s a whole other story. Thanks for this!

14 pro is def not indestructible lol, especially the glass back. I’ve broken 2 but have apple care so still go caseless. I’m hoping the titanium is a bit stronger although my apple watch scratched like a mofo. eyeing the dark blue 15 pro

One place I don’t use a case is at the beach. Phones generally do fine if you drop them bare on the sand. Just blow the sand off. I have long enough hair so I also just grab a bit of my hair and use the ends to brush the sand off. But if there’s a case then the sand can get into crevices and scratch the phone.

This was a warning given to me years ago by a fellow forum member who doesn’t post much anymore. It made a lot of sense and has served me well to follow his advice over the last few years.

I use cases pretty much everywhere else. I take them off often enough to clean and inspect the phones and admire them. I’m definitely not one to put my phones in cases and never see them again.

I went case less on my 12 pro and recently went au naturel with my 14 pro and I really hate to admit it because I love cases but this does hit different.

I will be upgrading to the 15 pro but I don’t have the testicular fortitude to go case less out the gate but maybe some months down the line I may find the bravery lol 😂

I don’t know what iPhones you get in your country but they break very easily over here. Watched a kid sat on a curb a few months ago drop his purple iPhone 14 Pro from about 200mm to the floor and the back glass shattered good and proper. He didn’t look particularly impressed.

Personally I prefer the feel of the iPhone in a case and I tend to drop mine a lot more than I should. It wouldn’t last a week without being smashed. I love that other people go case-less though and actively encourage others to take the risk for my own personal enjoyment, as long as they talk about it here.

I find that if you use it right away & put it in your pocket, like as soon as you peel off the stickers off the screen, you'll probably not want a case. Slide it across a table as soon as you unbox it to get that scaredy cat fear out of scratching your brand new iPhone lol

iPhone 14 Pro Max
Screen protector no case
I have to admit, going ceaseless over the past year has really made me appreciate the actual design of the phone more. Phone is still in pristine shape 😎

Can’t beat the look and feel in hand of a naked iPhone. I have two cases for my gold 11 Pro Max, never in one whilst I’m at home. The fear of dropping it in certain situations makes me use one of the cases, hate the feel of cheap plastic/silicone though and can’t wait to take it out lol
Always got screen protector on.
