I love when people feel the need to specify their phone in every post when it’s more than likely on a monthly payment plan. Check out my new carbon fiber case for my iPhone 15 Pro Max 1TB.. lmao
Kind of like how everyone says "my car" despite the monthly payments on their car loan?

anyone recommend a good clear case without the magnet logo on the back. i found a couple but most of the company casekoo dont have the ip pro max 15 yet. ive tried spigen esr, torras etc.

I bet 90% of phone are on monthly plans, mine certainly is, I’m not that stupid lol.
Personally, I find phone plans to be a scam, similarly to PCP car deals, albeit you don't pay balloon or give back the phone in the end - perhaps this applies to those swap programs where you have to settle finance before upgrading? Network providers slap high interest rates and inflate their sim deals like crazy.

Anyways, I prefer buying my phones outright and buy a separate sim only deal as it works out cheaper in the long run as oppose to inflated monthly plans with all those extra fees/APRs, etc. Bought a 15P and a 15PM 1TB for myself, straight from Apple and outright. Definitely slapping on cases for both and a screen protector for the 15P due to it being in the handbag and getting all sorts of abuse from keys and what not.

Have bought mine outright for a long time now. Helps the resell is high.

That’s why I switched to iPhone this year, after being a Samsung user since my last iPhone 5. Kept my phone for 2 years but recently got tired of losing money. I bought a Z Fold 4 512GB last August for around £1800, but after six months it was already selling for £900 on eBay. Joke to say the least! Sold mine for £700 a few weeks ago. Definitely do not think I'd have a problem with reselling 15PM 1Tb in the future, after like 3 years.

I am picking up the phones today and I am very excited to learn about iOS and its features.

Very nice and enjoy. Let me know and other users if you have any questions. Been an iPhone user since the 6.

Smartish has cases available for new phones before anyone else I’ve seen. I’ve used them for years. This is a clear non-MagSafe case.

I guess I just don't see a scam.

I've been with T-Mobile for eight years. In that time, under monthly payments, I have bought several devices. They show the total price and your monthly payments, plus final payment when you start the plan. It's a 0% interest 'loan' and sometimes requires a down payment.

Doesn't change.

I don't chase promos and we've been using the SIM cards issued to us in 2015. If I add lines I go to eBay and buy a $3 SIM card and then have T-Force activate it. Technically, I could just ask Apple, Best Buy or Target for a free SIM if I wanted to.

I am impressed with the Apple MagSafe clear case. I was using the Pro 15 naked but it is sort of slippery and so light. I almost like it better with the case on it.

In the UK the total price of the plan is declared at the start so you can see the phone cost and the plan cost total. I’d rather pay monthly and have the cost absorbed with my other bills than pay out £1000+ in one go for a phone. If I was paying upfront, I probably wouldn’t be buying a current iPhone and settle for something a bit more sensible. Probably why very few people opt to buy outright.

If you’re paying £1600 outright for a phone like you say, you’ve got a totally different set of priorities than I have anyway. I’m not a heavy phone user for one and have no need for it.

Went naked with my 14 Pro Max after I came back from Italy. So I only used a case during the trip (3 weeks). I did leave the screen protector on so I could put it face down when out or at home. My 15 Pro Max I planned to do the same thing, had a screen protector on it but I really didn't want to baby it, so yesterday while I was at the Apple store, I picked up the clear case. Love the look and feel. Lets my phone be seen and enjoyed and the benefits of some protection.

I don't know why I did that. I flip flop occasionally.

Why would it be stupid to not have a phone on a monthly plan?

I always buy my iPhones in cash (well, by card, but I pay it right away), and I resell them 1 year later.

It always goes like this (approximate prices in $, I pay in CHF in my country)

- buy the new iPhone for $1300
- sell the old iPhone for $800

Costs me $500 every year for a new iPhone = ~$41/month. I do my own financing without any third parties involved, by buying and reselling. I don't find that stupid at all.

About the topic: I always have a case on the iPhone, so it doesn't lose resale value (as it doesn't get banged up if I drop it).

I mean, whatever works for you. I'm not a yearly upgrader and couldn't think of anything worse than going through that hassle after just 12 months with a phone that is still essentially new. If you have to have the new phone every year for personal reasons and like paying up front, then great.

If you are paying $1300 for the phone and a data plan on top, I am sure you are paying considerably more than I am. I think plans are a lot cheaper in Europe than the US too.

Definitely agree with you regarding a case. Helps retain value, feels nicer in the hand and tones down the exterior appearance which are all a bonus for me.

That's a quite impressive plan you got there. I am from Switzerland and our plans are pretty bad, in the sense that you always pay the phone on top if you wanna get it from the carrier. It's never included in any way. So what you get is a payment of the full phone price over 24 months in installments, which usually includes a tax on top. So it's just a way of not paying everything up front. But in the end, you end up paying the same, if not a bit more.

Regarding myself, I happen to work for a mobile phone carrier so I get the subscription for free 😉 so I agree I'm probably not an average user.
