I plan on going fully caseless, but I still throw on the silicon case when I leave the house, and take it off once im back. maybe in one more month or so when im feeling more comfortable handling the phone ill do without a case, especially if the titanium holds up the way it has on my Apple Watch ultra.

I usually start off every new phone with a case, but I always end up ditching it after a while. I almost always prefer the feel of the phone sans case, and the newer phones are pretty durable--I'm clumsy and drop mine all the time (which is why I always get Apple Care +), and never had anything other than minor cosmetic damage.

Once you go caseless it’s really difficult to came back.
100% agree. Especially on the 15 Pro/PM

I have been using the phone caseless for a week or so and put my Clay Silicon case back on at the request of another poster wanting to see it compared to the AW Ultra 2 with Olive Alpine loop in some photos.

After obliging them, I could not get the case off fast enough... and I tried to want to use the case. The 15 just feels sooo much better, so much more special without a case than with one.

Couldn’t agree more with you. It just fits in the hand way better, I don’t think any case will take advantage of the shape. I’m considering getting like a sleeve so I don’t scratch the sides going in n out of my pockets

I did that for my 13 Pro I think, got a nice custom leather sleeve. Then I never used it cause the shape of the 13 and 14 pro sucked and I just used leather cases on both.

Might need to get another one now for the 15 PM.

I am really eyeing a bullstrap case but my checking account and family are saying “don’t you dare” 😂

I've always used a case, because my past phones have been either slippery or the edges have been uncomfortably sharp. Waiting for my black 15 PM to arrive and I can finally go nude. I'm different than most, I actually like imperfections and wouldn't mind if I end up receiving a defect one what comes to coating. I used black Apple leather cases, really enjoyed the feel of them and real leather is one of those materials that looks better with age. I looked at other brands for a while since they now have stopped making them, but decided not to buy anything.

How strong do the magnets on Bullstrap cases tend to be? I want a strong magnet for my wallet. It fell off my Casely case a lot but I found Caudabe to have a wonderfully strong magnet. If I’m going to throw down $85 on a nice leather case I really want it to have a good magnet.

Dropped my iPhone today and managed to volley it about 10 feet while I was walking. It would have had a lovely cracked effect if I didn’t have it in a case. One of those times I wish it was on video to post here as so many people can’t understand why some of us use cases.
I understand…

Back in 2010 or so I was walking to my kids school to go get them. I managed to drop my HTC Touch Pro from around chest height. It landed face down on the concrete sidewalk about three feet in front of me. When I walked over and bent down to pick it up, I accidentally kicked the phone. That sent it skimming down the sidewalk for about 20 feet. No case.

When I finally managed to retrieve it I found a slightly dented corner, missing a very small piece of the casing. The screen was fine - because the Touch Pro has a plastic screen. Everything else was fine too.

A few years later I'm leaving work after hours and it's dark. The starter on my car has a bad solenoid so I'm directly connecting a wire to the battery to start the car. But it's dark and I can't see so I use the flashlight on my iPhone 5. I'm handling the iPhone 5 with one hand. No case.

Of course, I dropped the iPhone 5 on asphalt from about waist high. Pick it up and the phone is kind of acting weird. So I go back inside and check the phone. Nice dent on the right rear corner. But a restart of the phone and everything's back to normal. Later on, I used emery board to file the corner down a bit so the metal wasn't so jagged.

Both instances were down to me not paying any attention. And please do not infer that I am implying you weren't paying attention. I am NOT saying that. Just for me, this stuff happened because I wasn't watching what I was doing.

There's also a very slight scuff on the corner of my 6s Plus because I dropped it in the driveway getting into the car. Again, I wasn't paying attention. Nothing else happened to the phone and it works perfectly. My wife did shoot me a "You're an idiot" look though.

I get it.

That’s where I’m at. It can happen to anyone. People fall and never intend to fall, but it can happen to anyone. I think it was my 6S+ that fell out of my pocket while I was bent over gardening, it had a case but the screen hit the corner of my front step and shattered. Fixed the next day with AppleCare+ but it still sucked. I did not have a screen protector.

I put my 15PM in my pocket with my keys on accident, now I have 3 relatively significant scratches on my screen— I have been waiting until my next paycheck to buy a screen protector, but it’s had a case since I unboxed it. Accidents can happen to anyone. I don’t plan on falling anytime soon but that doesn’t mean I won’t trip and send my phone flying.

A few years back I got a call from my mom concerning my dad. He was using his table saw in the garage when he just happened to slice off two fingers.

It happens. Especially when you aren't paying attention. Like he was.

I was angry at him - because he spent the majority of my childhood yelling at me with barely controlled rage about 'paying attention' about stuff and things that matter very little in comparison to losing a finger. Yet now, I was supposed to acknowledge that this was an accident and hold my tongue.

Phones are not fingers, but I had it beaten into me that I should be paying attention and that's heavily influenced a lot of things in my life since childhood, including not using cases on my phones. It's why there are a bevy of rules I follow about where my phone should be and should not be when doing any particular thing.

Us women typically (not always) use a handbag of some sort and keep our phones in there when we go out. I'd say we are a little less likely to drop phones when sitting down etc... Can't even imagine wearing anything so loose fitting that I could actually squeeze a PM phone in my pocket :D

My wife is more of a jeans and t-shirt type. She has a Ridge wallet (like I do) that she puts in a back pocket and that's also where her phones (yes, plural) often go. For work she has a dual phone holster. She sits on her phones too.

But she also uses cases - unlike me. If she's in a dress or skirt though (or just wants to) everything will go in a backpack. The only time she has a handbag or purse is if we happen to be going out to some formal thing. Even then, she tends to gravitate to the two purses she has that are made out of old license plates. :D

Yikes! I am compulsively careful with my phone nowadays because even an AppleCare repair might require money I simply don’t have. I am poor but I was able to upgrade through T-Mobile financing, I could never buy a phone outright let alone pay $1200 for a replacement. Chances are I couldn’t pay $99 for an AppleCare replacement, so I am really, really careful.

Yes. Happy with this combo!

Well, we usually tend to upgrade every 2.5 to 5.5 years. And when we do it's now (since 2021) to a non-current model iPhone. That allows us to get what we want while paying a lesser price monthly. We are also on T-Mobile and usually get EIPs. All of this is simply because we are roughly in your situation in regards to paying for stuff.

It's just that I don't want to use cases and my response to the danger that imposes is in large part to train myself to be aware, pay attention and protect my phone. Sometimes I simply take a different phone when I perceive a danger to my primary phone. My 6s Plus is the phone that goes with me on walks in the morning for instance.

I have only dropped two phones sufficiently to warrant repair/replacement since 2009. The last one was May 2022 when I shattered both the front and back of my current phone (11 Pro Max). Fortunately, I'd allowed the Applecare that the T-Mob employee had crammed on me when I got the phone to ride. So, replacement was $99.

Both times I dropped the phone I was under the influence of an antihistamine and really not paying my normal attention.

I went no-case on my 14 Pro because it was so heavy I hated using it with any case that I could find. It ended up with a few dings, but nothing bad and I wasn't particularly nice with it.

I think the feel of the 15 Pro with a case is fantastic - because the phone feels lighter and rounded, it's a lot more sleek than my 14. I always hated the feeling of putting the camera lenses right on the table, I dno't mind having a case even things out.

I might change as time goes on, but I'm really happy with the feel of the 15 Pro now.
