I’ve always used a flip/wallet case before but I’m finally being brave and just getting a back case. Decided to get the Apple Silicone case in Plum on my white 16. I tried a couple of Amazon cases first but they were slippery, the Apple one isn’t for me.

Yes I always use a case. However, Apple do not offer a flip case so I buy mine from Aliexpress. [https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007442449770.html?]. Previously bought this case for my iPhone 13 and it was excellent value for money.

In addition, I had Apple fit a Belkin screen protector at £34.95 And I returned the old iPhone 13 1Tb Pro Max for a replacement battery at £85. Unfortunately, but fortunately for me, they broke the wire to the camera and so they gave a brand new replacement Phone 13 1Tb Pro Max. Well chuffed!

I like reading these types of posts/threads. Obvisouly, metal, glass, titanium, etc. can all get damaged. No matter if it is a phone, car, golf club, tool, etc. But as many have posted here and in many other threads, it seems funny Apple should boast about all of the "durability", "strength", of the phone, frame, screen, etc., and then hawk both Apple and now Beats cases.

Even more ironic is how sooooo many debate about what color iPhone to get, just to throw a case on it. If you have a Desert Titanium iPhone in a black case, guess what color it is..... black!

I once had an argument with another user over Space Gray. Gray is not black, it's a shade of black yes, but it's not 100 percent black. They insisted that Space Gray phones were black, primarily because the screen itself was black. And my stand was that, again, gray is not black. I prefer black (100 percent black) for my phones.

The argument ended when someone else pointed out that just because a car has black tires, it doesn't make the color of the car black. :D

As to cases, the color of a case has been one reason I've heard for their use. People want a new phone on launch, but the only color(s) available aren't what they want. So, they'll buy a case in the color they prefer and get the phone in the color they hate because the case will cover it. Lately, I've not seen that reason popup, people seem to be waiting for the color they want now - but still slap a case on it. :D

Even with a case on, you can still see the color of the camera module and lens rings. My wife's 16PM Desert Ti has a white backing and Desert Ti lens rings - my 16P Black Ti has a black backing and black lens rings. My phone is always in a case, but I always use dark colored cases and I don't want a big white camera module poking out of it. It's not a huge thing, but it's a thing.

I was accused once of having created a Schrödinger's cat argument about a NIB legacy Apple product that someone had found a couple years ago.

To me cases are kind of like that. How do you know it's X color if there's a case on it? :D Unless you're the owner of the phone you have to take someone else's word for it, LOL! :)

Thank god for a case, I dropped my iPhone 16 Pro Max out of the drivers side door of my 4Runner and it landed on its back on the pavement. My Totallee case is scratched up but I’m so glad my iPhone is damage free.
I always worry about internal shock damaging components when I drop a phone. For that reason I pay attention to my phones for some time after a significant drop. Everything is screwed down inside and shouldn't move, but you never know.

Sorry, I'm not trying to say you're wrong - just that I'd keep an eye on it for a while just to be certain there IS no internal damage.

I'll bet if I put cases on a natural Ti 16 Pro and a black Ti 16 Pro and set them both face down on a table, you could immediately tell what color they were.

Probably. But I'd suspect that wouldn't be the case (ha!) if you were using Ottorbox cases. :D

PS, my quoted reply above was tongue-in cheek. Although, I have really been accused of the Schrödinger's cat argument I mentioned.

Thank you for the heads up, I didn’t think about that.

This is precisely why I prefer clear cases, personally. I want to protect my iPhone... but I also want to see my iPhone.

In a peripherally related event... when my wife and I upgraded to 16 series phones just recently, she decided that she specifically wanted the pink model. She and I were both migrating from 14 Pro Maxes... but the Pro Max doesn't come in pink. I talked to her about the technical "downgrade" of going from a Pro to a Plus... but she decided the cameras would be good enough, and the color was more important to her. So now, she has a very nice looking (cough!) pink 16 Plus, and I have a natural Ti 16PM.

And of course, both are in perfectly transparent cases -- aside from the minor aesthetic interruption of the MagSafe interface, of course. I mean, practicality has a small role to play, too... amiright?

I don't use a case but I have a screen protector. I just like the feel of the phone without a case but I do have apple care so if I break it I can just request an express replacement which usually means I receive a new phone the next day. I remember one time requesting a replacement for my 14 pro at around 5pm and having the new phone delivered at 9am the next day...

I'll say it again. To never take off your case and not know, not appropriate the build, the design is a crime.
Oh yeah when people keep saying every new phone has the same design as before, and then when there finally is a new design, they just cover it up with a case again. :p

I have a Spigen Liquid Air case and a screen protector. Case will definitely be coming off as soon as my dBrand xray skin gets here.

I went caseless after I got over the "newness" of my 13 Pro, but it did have a LOT of scratches, especially deep ones - and I even managed to get Apple to change the screen once during it's 3 year life due to the scratches. The steel frame also had a few small chips along the edges, but I was not particularly "careful" with it and would set it down wherever.

With my 16 Pro Max, I am opting for an Apple Silicone Case, mainly because of how large it is, and I do want to avoid those annoying scratches I could feed with my fingernail for as long as possible.

Honestly, I would love to go caseless for the 16 pro max. The phone is just too slippery. There is no way I could carry it around daily. I miss when phone used to be deign with a bit of texture on the back where you had some grip support.

I use a silicone case for my iPhone 12 Pro Max because I used to have an iPhone X, but I dropped it and lost it. Ever since then, I’ve been much more careful, using screen protectors and sturdy cases to keep my phone safe.

I have been hearing this argument (not necessarily from you) since at least the iPhone 6, if not before. It's not a new argument, although I do think it's relative to each person. It may be slippery for you, but not for others. I don't currently own an iPhone 16PM, but I do own an 11PM and there was a time when people were saying that the 11PM was 'too slippery'.

I don't find that to be the case personally. But that's just me.

I will remove case after few months, once iPhone is easily available in store to replace under Apple Care+

Funny how I think backwards. If I were to go with a bigger phone, that would be a bigger (hehe) reason for me not to use a case. I hated feeling like I was carrying a brick around when I had a 13 Pro Max and had a case on it, even if it was just one of the thinner Caudabe cases.

I have a 12 pro in Pacific blue and am looking for a Caudabe sheath type in a matching colour case (caudabe understandably have run out of these in blue).

Any recommendations for a slim as possible ocean view case please?
