I just ordered a Nomad Horween modern leather case for my 16 pro max. I was going case-less, but decided I better get a case, mainly bc I don’t like the camera lenses exposed to any hard surfaces I may put the phone on. I had an apple leather case for my 14 PM and loved it - but bc they do not make them anymore, I did some research and Nomad seems to make some great quality leather cases - so I went with that.
I did the same exact thing you did, my iPhone 14 pro case was the greatest, after so many drops with the phone, yes the outer case was on it’s last leg but my phone still looked brand new. I was split between Bull and Nomad but ultimately I like the options Nomad offers on their cases, I’m loving it on the 16 pro max, plus it was one of the few ones that had a cut out for the camera button versus having it covered up on other cases.

How is the CC cutout on the Nomad leather cases working out for you guys?

I've also ordered the Nomad Horween leather case. Not got it yet. Thing they said November. Funny thing is is that I've been using my 16 Pro Max casesless all week.

For anything below iP 15 I would go with Apple's Leather Cases. I've had such cases since the iP 7+ and you can't go wrong with these. Just my 2 cents.

Hi I can try to answer quickly. With the iPhone 15 Apple stopped with their own leather cases, and from the 15 and up you need to get a leather case from somewhere else. Like the leather cases from Nomad for example.

I would not buy a leather case because of the hideous, unthinkable torture and cruelty requisite, to mammals as sensitive, intelligent and capable of love, as well as horror, terror and trauma as I am, and certainly as much as any dog. For shoes or belts, it's harder to find a good alternative. For iPhone, it's ugly and obscene to me, and completely unnecessary.

What about vegan leather?

Yes what do you think about vegan leather? Because as far as I know it was made up of artificial leather made from agricultural waste and eco-friendly materials is a sustainable alternative to traditional leather. It’s created using leftover plant materials and other renewable resources, making it both environmentally friendly and a great choice for reducing waste.
Still, you don't like Leather Cases?

Thank you so much Mike, for this thoughtful and inspiring post. I think it's a wonderful idea. I'm sure it will get better as time goes on and methods refine... so that it's eventually as durable and indistinguishable. If it's also cheaper... well, the market itself will take care of this issue. Even people who could not care less about the extreme cruelty they're perpetrating when they buy leather goods, the planetary destruction it guarantees... will see the value of a great product for less money. Also, I think social pressure will mount, and such people are unconscious and cowardly, so they'll be more easily swayed by that as well. It seems like animal testing is on the decline. I met this lady at a wedding last weekend who works for Loreal and I was thrilled to learn they have not done animal testing since the early 1980s.

Better safe then sorry.
Speak for yourself. :)

I don't use cases.

I've had smartphones since 2009 and an iPhone since 2011. In all that time I have dropped only two phones with enough force to merit repairs or replacement. And both of those times I was groggy from an antihistamine.

What's your record?

By all means trust a case if you want to. I put my trust in myself and my awareness.

Hi there!
I don’t know why, but I’m too careless. I drop my phone several times a week, whether I’m sitting in the car or at home on the stairs. That’s why I prefer to use a case; the last time I dropped my phone, it broke the back glass.

My personal record is 5 iPhones since 2016, each dropped between 40-50 times on various surfaces. No damage, cosmetic or otherwise, on any of those devices. I do use cases and screen protectors though.
