Nope, I upgraded from a 12 pro max, ProMotion alone is worth the upgrade. I was going to buy the new MacBook Pro that’s getting released soon, wont be buying it anymore until it gets ProMotion.
I can relate but maybe for a different reason..
The iPhone is now in a price bracket where I still expect to get something substantial for my money.
Might be that I’m just getting old and still remember when my $1-ish weekly allowance gave me both a comic book and some candy and that was all I needed in life to be happy..
But still an iPhone today can cost the equivalent of a down payment for a car or even a home in some areas..
Where I live you could get a masters degree or maybe even a PHD for less money than you would pay for an iPhone..
It could also just be a much needed rainy day fund to reduce some stress in life..
Back in 2004 I spent 3 months backpacking in Asia for about as much as a 1TB iPhone Pro Max would cost me today. Plane tickets included..
Due to inflation/exchange rates it would likely cost a bit more today but even so I would not be happy to trade that experience for an hour or two extra battery life, a new case, a MagSafe charger and a few seconds saved per day in load times on random apps..
Sometimes I also think that maybe it would be better upgrade to my life to actually buy a worse phone, so I would be less inclined to waste my time on random apps..![]()
No, I live in Sweden but it would be a similar cost in many other European countries as well.Where do you live that with the cost of a new iPhone you can get a masters degree or PHD? I bet not in USA.

Books and materials won’t be much more than $1000 over 5 years.
A 5y student loan (optional) will cost you about $1000 in interest and admin fees over 20 years.
Worst case scenario you spend about $2000 for a masters degree.
In comparison,
128GB iPhone 13 mini, $1000
1TB iPhone 13 Pro Max, $2300
(Inc taxes..)
Basically, in most European countries as well as in many countries worldwide, your degree would be cheaper than in the US. But that's a side questionDammm then I overpaid for my degrees here in the states (Miami)![]()
I'm taking a screenshot of this and putting it on a note in my iPhone. To remind myself to read it every time I feel like getting a new iPhone.I can relate but maybe for a different reason..
