Those apps are not bundled with the OS X installer (expect for Photos). You'll have to re-download them or restore from backup.

Thanks for the reply, is it possible for me to back up all my apps before I do the clean install? So that I don't have to re-download everything? Sorry this will be my first clean install, have alway just upgraded in the past.

Copying them over to an external partition and copying them back after the clean install should work for the apps you described.

Hopefully it's not the last GM. Mail crashes on launch. Seems to be a Gmail issue.

The install UI was a bit odd, it took way too long for the time remaining text to appear. Thought it had crashed.

Hmmm maybe I should hold off then.. Although, if I install this and there is another GM Candidate build, can I just update to that until the final build??

I'm confused, normally the betas are available via the Updates tab, now I have to download the whole installer via the Purchases tab?

Would that update my currect version (15A279b) or would i install a clean install?

So If I have been running the beta - what am I meant to do now ? Do a complete reinstall ? as that is the only option I'm getting in the App Store ?

wonder if they've removed the annoying bug using the search bar in safari whilst in fullscreen mode and it leaving the bookmarks history / suggestions box open leading to another click to remove?

this happens in google only, switch search engines and it's fine.

only minor but so annoying, reported twice as well.

A GM can still be considered a beta since there will most likely be multiple GM releases before the official release, just as with Yosemite, which I believe had 4 GM releases.
What you're talking about are GM Candidates, which are considered betas since multiple GM Candidates can exist. The fact a build is a candidate for becoming GM doesn't mean it's actually GM. The GM however is the final shipping retail version and as such can't be considered a beta.

It’s simply a complete upgrade again, as if you were installing El Capitan for the first time. The betas you have been installing after the first version were delta updates, i.e. updates that only contain the code/binaries that have changed. It’s not a clean install, because that would require formatting your drive. Your data stays intact.

I wonder if anyone can please confirm if it's safe to DL the GM candidate and upgrade the main system install from Yosemite to El Cap? Yes, no, or should I wait for the official release?

Someone asked earlier about the date on the download, I got the email late Wednesday and I'm just now getting around to grabbing the download and it shows:

Code:
September 10, 2015

Not sure that really means much but, technically it's the first "beta" of El Capitan I've even bothered with so, we'll see how things work out.

Download the GM. Apple has made it available for public beta testers. If you are not seeing it, then re-enrol your Mac on the Apple Beta site. You do not have to do a clean install.

I have to say... it is amazing... I feel like me Mid 2012 rMBP is a brand new machine... everything is butterly smooth for the first time since I got this computer.

Lets hope it stays like this.

Can someone test copying to and from various USB drives, especially if you have a USB 3 card in a Mac Pro. This was one area that wasn't working well during the beta phase.

Quick question:

What happens when EL Capitan officially releases on September 30 and you've already upgraded to the 10.11 GM Candidate or final GM? Do you have to install the official 10.11 build or what?

Also wanting to know this.

I want to do a clean install now with this GM, but if this does not auto update to the final version (if this release now ain't it), then i might wait . . .
