Yes, I get that quite often. On 10.10.5. I usually open the Web Inspector, find the video and run it from there and it works fine. Really annoying. Happens often with vids embedded. E.g. on MR.

*edit: tested on 10.11 Beta (15A278b) and videos show as they should. Now I'll install GM and see how that works.

* another edit: installed GM PB and now the black video windows are back :) Would be interesting to know what causes it.
I'm not getting this myself. What triggers it? (I'm on the PB build).

I have no idea. I went back to MR front page and now the embedded vids load up normally.

I suspect it has something to do with the Click-To-Plugin Safari extension. I used that (Flash is removed from my system) but it's nice to have some control over what is loaded. I use Ghostery and AdBlock as well no other extensions.

This is on the GM PB.

So is this good to install on my main machine now then? Never really messed around with desktop betas/GMs.

If your Mac is for work its better to wait until 10.11.3 is released, by that time most of the bugs should be gone.

Otherwise you can install it but make backup first to external drive and don't be surprised if you ran into bugs...

Personally I'm going to wait at least until 10.11.3 or 10.11.4. I am not taking any changes with production Mac!

Me too. Going to download now.
Better be careful OR at least make a backup of your previous beta...

I've been in the El Capitan beta test group since it came out. I am or was running Parallels 10 (latest version) when I initially installed the beta a couple of months back. Parallels ran fine from the first get-go and on through all the beta updates. I should note that I installed the current Windows 10 program that ran well also (again with Parallels 10).

Last night i received what looked like the final edition of El Capitan which I installed. After the installation all seemed well. Clicking on About shows only 10.11 without any beta codes. A few minutes ago I wanted to go into Windows 10 via Parallels. I got to the first screen where the "dot circle" stopped moving and then apparently hung up. After waiting a few minutes, I shut the computer down and rebooted. Now my Parallels icon was missing from the desktop so I went into Applications and clicked on the Parallels program which then started it up, only to hang up as described above.

The short version of above is that this update blowup my Parallels installation that ran great though all the previous beta updates to 10.11

The next paragraph is probably for a Parallels forum...

Unfortunately I did NOT make a Time Machine backup before installing the latest (final?) software for El Capitan. Maybe this time I will do so. Wonder how I'm going to get back into Parallels operation? Should I delete the Parallels application in Applications and then run the Parallels installation disk again? I assume my Windows 10 installation is still there even though I can't access it at this time. Any other ideas?

What is the terminal syntax to create a bootable install usb from El Capitan Public GM?

Same as it has been for Yosemite. You just need to change the name of the app in the command line, in two places.

I made the USB stick and did a fresh install on an external disk (a disk I was using for the various betas, but this was wiped and is now a clean fresh install of the GM, 15A282a, since I am on the Public Beta track).

Sadly, Disk Utility is still crippled. You cannot even resize the window, and there is no software RAID function. Other functions are gone as well, such as "Burn". That's the only real gripe so far. I was hoping they would add these functions back as the final release approached, but it appears not to be.

Sorry if this was answered already but if I install the GM Candidate, will I get the any additional updates via the app store if this isnt the final? Like will I get the true GM on the 30th if this one isn't it?

On the 30th you'll get the Final Public Release! Not a Beta or GM. There may be more GM Candidates before the Final Release, but as of Right Now THIS IS IT!

I am so confused, the number I have is not the number listed here in this thread (see my previous post), but not only that, after a reboot the beta 6 shows up and wants to auto install, so I went from Beta 5 - > GM - > Beta 6 ? .. this does not sound safe to do :S
Any more experience people here that can give me advice?

Seems as though I'm getting marginally better battery life with the GM. 2012 15" rMBP. Could be my imagination. Maybe the placebo effect. ;-)

Just want to confirm... does installing the GM (via app store purchases) over the the public beta act as a clean install or is it still considered an update and retains user files and applications?

Thanks

I couldn't wait any longer so I went ahead and made a separate partition to test the GM Candidate (Build a) and found it to be very stable. No crashes or bugs to speak of. However the Feedback Assistant app was still visible, which clearly suggests that Apple is not quite done yet. With that in mind I will hold off until the final GM build is released before I properly upgrade from Yosemite to El Capitan.

Well Apple will still be releasing beta builds (10.11.1 etc) even after the public release of El Capitan.

The battery life seems to be shorter than Yosemite. Less than 5 hours on a Mid 2014 MBPr only for web browsing. It was 7-9 hours in this condition with the former OS...
