Also wanting to know this.

I want to do a clean install now with this GM, but if this does not auto update to the final version (if this release now ain't it), then i might wait . . .
Curious about this as well. My impatience got the best of me last night so I did a time machine backup and then went ahead and installed. But of course I have this stupid feedback assistant installed now. Hopefully the last GM update will actually be the official version.

What is the terminal syntax to create a bootable install usb from El Capitan Public GM?

anyone experiencing the same issue?

I was able to download like for about 150MB but I have to cancel it earlier coz I need to go to work after it wont allow me to download anymore...

Update: Have fixed issue. Seems Apple servers doesn't want to talk to UnoTelly DNS.

I'm confused, normally the betas are available via the Updates tab, now I have to download the whole installer via the Purchases tab?

Would that update my currect version (15A279b) or would i install a clean install?
El Capitan downloaded from the "Purchased" category will be the latest and greatest version. You won't have to do incremental updates to get to the GM.

I understand, but will running the installer (downloaded via Purchaes tab) install a clean version, or will it upgrade my current version of Capitan to the GM? In other words: will I keep my settings/apps like a regular update?

If you download the GM and click on install, it will update your system leaving your files and settings intact. Make sure to do a backup first, just in case something unforeseen happens.

I'll +1 for being curious about what happens when the real final goes live. Can we just upgrade via the App Store? Or do we have to clean install to get a non-beta/GM candidate?

if I launch the installer it does it things and restart it , but then nothings happen and it back to the old version?

anyone with the same issue?

downloading it right now on my macbook pro. Looking forward to it but yet nervous that it may screw something up.

Tried beta builds before but this is the first time on my macbook pro.

Just installed to my retina iMac, big improvement in performance of safari. Not noticed any problems.

If I installed this GM, once the official version is out can I just update or do I have to reinstall everything?

GM means Golden Master -- that's the version that gets released to the public at the end of the month. At this point, if any show stoppers show up, there will be an update through the App Store. Bottom line: GM *** IS *** the official version.

Anyone having a blank black space while playing Youtube videos in Safari?

Yes, I get that quite often. On 10.10.5. I usually open the Web Inspector, find the video and run it from there and it works fine. Really annoying. Happens often with vids embedded. E.g. on MR.

*edit: tested on 10.11 Beta (15A278b) and videos show as they should. Now I'll install GM and see how that works.

* another edit: installed GM PB and videos seem to load normally.

So is this good to install on my main machine now then? Never really messed around with desktop betas/GMs.

Except.. this is a GM "Candidate"....

What you're talking about are GM Candidates, which are considered betas since multiple GM Candidates can exist. The fact a build is a candidate for becoming GM doesn't mean it's actually GM. The GM however is the final shipping retail version and as such can't be considered a beta.

I didn't realize until yesterday that they called them GM Candidates. It's true that a final GM would not be a beta anymore, but we truly don't know that it's not a beta until it is officially released with that GM build number.

In Yosemite my Intel iris powered retina MBP was very sluggish in UI animations, so i had to disable transparency to make it useable. Now i can use it nd everything is super smooth. Amazing what software can do.
