Project fi voice doesn't support iPhone, so there will be some issues. You can somehow forward its voicemail to google voice, then use google voice as its voicemail.

While you’re right Project Fi doesn’t officially support iPhone voice, in practice it doesn’t work badly at all, other than the 4 quirky items I listed above - No VVM, MMS or Carrier Switching, and needing Android to activate.

It doesn’t always work for verification texts either - like from a bank - I’ve been told because Fi voice is basically Google Voice with cellular bolted on.

Is anyone with Verizon as primary with physical sim able to get At&t calls to use hd voice without having to set At&t as primary line and data? Only by doing that will it work properly or if the At&t line is on wifi calling.

That’s interesting. I wonder if someone “wipes all”, what the process is for adding the previously-active line back to the eSIM? Can the original QR/activation code be used again or are they single-use codes and a new one will have to be obtained from the carrier? All things we’ll learn as we learn more about the eSIM, no doubt.

This depends on your carrier. My carrier (Ooredoo Qatar) states that each QR code can be used up to 10 times for re-registration on the same device. They state that this code can not be used on another device.
[doublepost=1540729167][/doublepost]I don’t understand why they don’t allow you to have both numbers added to iMessage/FaceTime. It is literally a matter of sending the verification message to Apple numbers once in the device life time.

Tried several AT&T stores in Colorado with no luck. Anyone still able to get esim activated in the last day or two?

Since activating esim, I have been getting better reception. Anyone getting the same experience?

I am getting better reception as well, which is strange. I have always had good signal, but it appears to be a bar better now in the usual places I go to.

I might move my main number to the eSim but cannot think of what I might do with the feature past that. My phone is on a payment plan so its locked at the moment. I would only be able to use another SIM from the same provider. I thought about a data only line for hotspot use or something like that but I'm guessing it would treat the line like any other and limit me to 10G vs the 22G+ my regular hotspots provide. I might move over just to do it and decide later what to do next.

Edit: So, I went to the store and had my main line moved to the eSim. Works fine. I moved my hotspot line to a nano sim and put it in the physical slot for data only. I don't know how this is going to go since its meant for a hotspot device but it does provide data. I set the physical slot as my data line and the eSim as my voice line, I selected the option to move the data to eSim if I am on a call. I have tested with hotspot through the phone but don't know yet if it will show as hotspot data or regular data. This will determine how much I get. Very interesting so far. Also the signal indicator is split and shows both at the same time on the top right. Dots for eSim, bars for physical. I do see some signal differences between the two at times, one "better" than the other at times. After a few days of playing I should know more.

Edit 2: Data through the phone even on the sim associated with a hotspot service shows as hotspot via the phone so a 10G limit. I could with this setup get 20G total by using each of my lines. Interesting test none the less. If my data use rises this setup will give me 44G using phone and 20G using hotspot without slowdown. Not that I really need that but I don't want to lose the hotspot line at the moment so might as well use it for testing in the phone. Its not something I can add later since its no longer an option.

I went to a corporate store tonight. The guy thought I was nuts wanting to try to do this when it wasn't "official" yet. We got the esim setup with my number. It was a little clumsy as it was obviously his first time setting one up. Then he convinced me to try setting up my second number through AT&T. Only a little more than I would pay for Xfinity, and I still can switch because it's a no contract line. Seems to all be working now except my voicemail. For some reason it gets stuck on "retrieving your greeting" on my main line. On the new line it gives me the option to set up a new greeting. I will fiddle with that tomorrow. The charge for the esim was supposed to be $5 and then there was a $30 activation on the screen, I went to hand him my credit card and he said "nah, I'll just wipe it out. It was a learning experience." So I'm all up and running with 2 AT&T lines.

tried to chat with AT&T today and setup the eSIM but they told me that its not active due to issues with IOS and its being delayed to later this year!! is that true?

I doubt it is true. I spoke with an AT&T rep and got the impression it could be done without a QR code if they give you the stuff to enter over the phone.

I'm going to try later.

I just came back from a corporate store and got my esim activated! The rep didn't know a thing until I showed him a pic of esim from this forum. He was able to find one esim in the store. He didn't know how to activate it though. Luckily I was following this post and educated myself enough. I told him input the ICCID as he was activating a normal sim. Then I scanned QR code on the esim and my phone was able to pick my number up shortly.

My phone was acting weird as no signal shown in control center but was able to send/receive calls. The signal bar showed up after I upgraded to official 12.1.

Once you have two SIMs going your signal bars will split and show both independently. Dots along the bottom for eSIM and bars just above for physical SIM. Interesting they each maintain their own strength. Generally the same but not always.

I was curious about this. Will the bars always be the physical SIM or will it follow whichever SIM is the primary?

Called CS and they had no clue what eSIM is!! Notice any change in reception with the eSIM?

I keep trying in store and chat and I have gotten chat agents that say it's not active yet, or the "issue will be resolved in a software update". The AT&T retailer I visited said they don't have the "button" to click in their system, and were adamant that they couldn't do it no matter how I asked and led them with accurate info. And the corp store near me said they have no idea.

I wish they had the same info everywhere, I mean they have had the time!

I called back this afternoon and got 2 reps tell me that AT&T is not supporting it currently and they don't have a timeline for when it will be enabled. Very very disappointing.

Just went to a corporate store. The woman helping me had to do a little research but she got it figured out in about 10-15 minutes and I am up and running!

Awesome. Did she have to use a QR code, or did she just enter the activation info manually?

She scanned the ICCID bar code to replace my physical SIM number in the ATT system and then used my phone to scan the QR code. Was really quite painless
