T-Mobile eSIM working, here’s how to set it up.

1.) Go to settings/general/about and get the EID for your phone. It’s a long number, make sure to validate this number is correct if you write it down.

2.) Call 611 and request a SIM swap for your line. Advise them that you only have the EID number available.

3.) T-Mobile rep will swap the SIM using the EID, and will send a confirmation PIN number to you to validate the SIM swap.

4.) Sit back and wait for the confirmation text that the SIM swap has completed (took about 5 minutes for me). Do not proceed to step 5 until you receive this text, as it will not work.

5.) Go to settings/cellular/add cellular plan, and click “enter details manually”.

6.) Enter the following address under SM-DP+ Address: cust-005-v4-prod-atl2.gdsb.net

7.) Follow the prompts on the screen to setup your eSIM how you would like it to work (primary/secondary/data only) .

Hopefully this helps others get this activated. I am using it currently with no issues, and have my work line in the physical SIM slot as well.

Just did this and it worked. Only thing I also had to do was remove any SIM card currently in the iPhone and do a power cycle.

Now running T-Mobile for both eSIM and physical SIM.

No I did not have to give the EID. I entered that server address and it went thru the screens and setup a new eSim.

I saw the posts around having to register EID, it’s very much possible that it’s required and mine is provably already registered. I had attempted with eSim long back with support where they tried using the IMEI and EID like how it’s done for iPad and it has not worked. This was long back, sometime late Oct or Nov beginning. I am guessing this so if EID being registered is something that’s required for others.

I had a similar issue last night and putting in another SIM fixed up the trouble. See this note in the VZW thread:

After I configured the eSIM line as the data service line, I took out the other SIM and all was normal.

Damn! This crossed my mind after we did all that. Thanks for the info!

Is anyone else’s esim signal lower than the primary sim’s?

I'm in a place where I'm covered by Bands 2, 4 and 12.

Sometimes one of my phones will latch onto a lower signal strength band than the other phone.

It's probably the same thing happening with an eSIM + a physical SIM active at the same time. You're probably on two different bands.

Just a guess.

Do you have a prepaid or post paid account?

I have prepaid and it didn’t work for me. I didn’t take my SIM card out thou.

I am on a postpaid line.. You may need the EID registered probably as I read.

New question: I added my personal (VZW) line to the eSIM and put my work SIM card in.

If I’m on vacation and want to disable the work line, is it as simple as flipping this toggle?

Yes, that’s what I do with my work line at 6pm on friday right now.
My VZW line is on my Esim and my Work (T-Mobile) line is on the physical sim.

I noticed missed calls may not sync BUT voicemails will. I haven’t tested to much so far though.

What would be the best scenario for primary line and traveling? Have my primary line on esim and physical card open for traveling? What if I wanted to use GigSky for traveling as well. Whats the best solution that everyone is doing? Thank you

Does an iPad connected to an iPhone via WiFi have the ability to send SMS from any of the two SIM/eSIM numbers on the iPhone?

Didn't work for me. Called in and they still say its not active yet. When removing the sim and typing in the address above it says the code has already been used

The trick is to call in and ask to add the eid to your account. Don’t say anything about eSim or they’ll say no. Once the eid is entered then scan or put in the sm-dp address. And your all set to go.

Evidently I'm not telling them something correct. I have asked 3 different operators to change my sim using my EID and all 3 keep saying its not possible and can only be 19 numbers for voice lines? They keep saying there is no where to enter the EID for a SIM card? ***** T-Mobile....

I got my T-Mobile esim working via the posted instructions.

Sounds like Apple has some improvements to make on this though:

1. I should not have to delete my entire conversation to text someone from a different number.
2. If I'm trying to return a call, let me pick the line I'm calling from.

That's all I've found so far, but seems like basic functions.
