Maybe Apple are intentionally making it hard so that they avoid the backlash from people calling and texting from the wrong number? The specific use case of using a work phone when abroad to avoid the cost to me makes me wonder why not just use the work phone full stop? Surely if you’re texting someone from two lines you have two different threads on the other persons phone, which personally would drive me mad, to the point I’d just settle on calling/texting on your work phone.

If you turned off the personal SIM, would it default to using the work line as the only one available?

Can’t speak with any certainty for China, but iPhones in Hong Kong definitely support Wifi Calling.

Having said that, the XS Max model A2104 is the same model for HK and China...

Are you perhaps confusing Chinese networks not supporting Wi-Fi Calling with the iPhone not supporting it?
I would like to know if the dual sim Hong Kong version works with Verizon. The CDMA bands. Please confirm as I am traveling to HK just to get the iPhone XR.

I find the implementation used by Vodafone DE and Ooredoo Qatar to be the best yet. e-SIM is supposed to be hassle free and an all digital experience! Why have the customers head to a store and get a piece of plastic. Carriers going to be carriers I guess.

I asked that at my local EE store and I was told they want to make sure there aren't any identity thefts.
Fair enough.. I guess there's no 100% secure way to do this. But I bet they could do something like.. the app shows you the QR code after video calling customer services and showing them your face and your passport...
[doublepost=1543154709][/doublepost]So my two questions for this thread

1) Does the hardware support dual sim but using TWO eSIM instead of physical+esim?
2) Is there any way to disable the physical sim entirely?

You can have multiple eSIM, but only one of them active at a time.

This is the answer I was given at 12.1.1 beta 2. I doubt they've changed since then.

Couldnt agree more. I have a buddy with a Dual Sim android and he mixer up the number he calls from all the time. Its a nightmare. Apples implementation is much much better

Model A2108 is identical to the Verizon version in terms of band support.

I just chatted with an ATT agent and she is (snail) mailing me a esim QR card. I just got the order confirmation email. She asked what my imei of my iPhone was and seemed to know exactly what was going on. She said I should have it in a couple days. She was not able to email me anything. So I’ll report back once it arrives. Funny I called 2 Corp. stores around me to see if they had any and they told me that they would not have them until January of 19. We will see. Lol.

Are you seriously arguing that his link is not an official Apple support page?
Sure it is Apple’s support page. Looks like an Apple web page. No?

Nuance, I said "Apple's official eSIM page". I think if Rogers were truly ready, It'd be updated there before that other page, but that's just what I think (and also no one so far got Rogers/Fido to activate it).

What makes your page any more official than his official page for
“Wireless carrier support and features for iPhone”

His page says “Published Date: December 5, 2018”, whilst yours is “Published Date: November 28, 2018” so is more likely to be out of date.

Because when you look at the dual-SIM page, it refers to the link I referred to, not the other one.
Anyway, no one still has been able to activate it with Rogers and they are still silent

Finally! Went to the local AT&T corp store, got my number moved to eSIM in lesser than 5 mins. Stick my oversea SIM card into the slot as secondary voice and SMS only, worked perfect! AT&T Visual Voice Mail also no problem. All the functions as expected.

It seems like this page hasn’t been updated since.. ever!

Remember when I posted here that Ooredoo Qatar and Vodafone Qatar both offer eSIM? Well, the page listing carrier features shows they offer eSIM while the eSIM page never did.

Except that at the bottom it says it was updated on November 28, 2018...

Ooredoo and Vodafone supporting the GSMA eSIM standard and Apple certifying it are two different things.

Again look at the date of your page compared to mine. Obviously Rogers / Fido are supporting eSim shortly.

Yes, I never said they will not, I was just pointing at the fact that the page's posting is premature because you can't activate it right now, and was saying that when you actually can, it will probably be reflected there too :)

Awesome! The visual voice mail bug was annoying
