Well I talked to att tech support last night and they gave me a date of 11/17 as the when they will begin to issue the esim again. We will see how true that is. Lol

I believe Apple needs to first release iOS 12.1.1 to the public for that to happen and Apple doesn't usually release updates over the weekend.

It’s already out. They released 12.1 at Halloween and it has the dual sim capability.

No. 12.1 is what enabled the dual sim. 12.1.1 is just an incremental small update bug fixes and such but the ability to use esim is here now. Some here have already gotten an esim from att. They only stopped because they were having some issues on the att side.

12.1.1 fixes Verizon's VoLTE issues and CDMA/LTE fallback issues. It also fixes AT&T's visual voicemail issue which was experienced by some early eSIM adopters. There are some Reddit threads about this.

Ahh. I had not seen that. Most of what I have read from those who have the esim are saying it is working quite well for the most part. Well I guess we will see. Apple has sometimes released updates on weird days like Friday’s in the past. So we will see.

Just had a very surprising on line chart with AT&T support staff. I was prepared answer on eSIM would be the same corp BS, out of my surprise, he asked me which BETA software version that I am running. After I told him that I am on 12.1.1 Beta2, he said eSIM is available to be activated on my device. Then asked my zip code, and checked nearest AT&T store in my area who has the eSIM QR code card (the blue one), and even made an appointment for me at store to activate my eSIM. Also told me that he had updated notes on my account to ensure the proper service from the store. This is almost "to good to be true" based on all the customer service experiences that I had with any cell phone companies in the past........ I guess that I will find out tomorrow if all became true.

It's one of the first answers in the Q&A: it persists restores.
To remove it you have to go in the settings and remove it.
I can’t remove my eSim for some reason. There’s no option to delete it in settings.

Any ideas?

EDIT scrap that, a new option appears under General > Reset to “Remove All Data Plans”.

That's not it. This will remove more than what you need. Try Settings-Cellular-Pick Your eSim Line Under Cellular Plans-Scroll Down to "Remove Cellular Plan".

I guess the feeling of "too good to be true" is always right. AT&T store has specific instruction the "DO NOT" activate any eSIM, and all eSIM inventory "NEED TO BE SECURED" as store manager showed me the corp memo. So, no luck still. I guess will just have to wait until official release by AT&T then.

LOL... Damn. You really had my hopes up. :)

Does the version of the iPhone XS Max with the two physical SIM have the same choices in the software that the version eSIM + 1 physical SIM has?

Does the version with two physical SIM also have eSIM capabilities the same as the USDM versions?

Thanks very much for your help.

It’s unbelievable just what a mess Apple have made with dual sim implementation, it’s that bad it’s hard to actually believe it was ever approved for customers to use.

Couldn’t agree more. It’s a total balls up at the moment.

1 All I want to be able to do is SMS somebody with either number without having to delete the entire message thread first.

2 Make a ONE-OFF call to any phone contact using either number.

I still don’t believe that no one at Apple took a look at how Android dual sim phones work.

I mean even a technically illiterate person could just pick up one of those and send an sms or make a call from whichever sim they wanted without any prompting.

No, it doesn't have eSIM.

I get what you mean... But can you imagine if Apple had looked at BlackBerry for the original iPhone? ;)

@cngrevolution gets what I mean, it’s as simple as having looked at the basic method of operation, ie having 2 buttons at the bottom of the keypad and message app, with a 1 and a 2 on them.

Want to call out on sim 1? Press the sim 1 call button. Want to send a text from sim 2? Write the text and press the sim 2 button.

It’s really that simple.

Have a look at a dual sim android phone and how easy it is to choose which sim to use or to change the sim for data use.

I think he meant capabilities as in features to turn off either sim use data from one or the other etc.

Exactly.

What I wanted to know was whether the A2104 (Hong Kong) had the capability of multiple eSIM, despite the fact that it was already dual physical SIM.
[doublepost=1542643468][/doublepost]From the answers in here, it looks like I'll be happier in the end waiting for T-Mobile's implementation of eSIM instead of getting the dual physical SIM A2104.

I can wait. :)

You know how it is, though. You don't really want to wait, and you might be willing to waste some money getting what you don't really need because...well...Apple stuff....

One thing to keep in mind about the version for China/HK/Marco with dual physical sim version. Yes, you can have to sim card from different carriers installed and be active without waiting for eSIM to be supported by carrier. HOWEVER, the versions for China market do not support Wi-Fi calling feature due to government regulation. Meaning anything like Skype will not work with the phone, so as the WiFi calling feature provided by US carrier. Other than that, phones are essentially the same.

Can’t speak with any certainty for China, but iPhones in Hong Kong definitely support Wifi Calling.

Having said that, the XS Max model A2104 is the same model for HK and China...

Are you perhaps confusing Chinese networks not supporting Wi-Fi Calling with the iPhone not supporting it?
