Today is a holiday in the States, so that lazy fellow, @SandboxGeneral, is probably sleeping late...although his beloved kitties might well have awakened the slug-a-bed to provide them with their morning treats.

I,of course, have been up since 5:00AM as I am a peppy and alert gentleman who greets each day bright and early!o_O

I have enjoyed my first cup of coffee, a magnificent brew of French Roast blend.

I greet all, here and abroad, to this day!

Have you been in contact with the NSA again?

Indeed I was lazy this morning and slept until just now, 7 am. I have the best boys in the world I tell you. They allowed me to sleep in and forgo the compulsory 6 am cat treats I am to dole out. They did not beat my bedroom door down with the force of a large truck and permitted me to slumber a while longer and I only woke up when the light from a star, about 93 million miles away, started brightening up my room through an open window.

Needless to say I have not had my morning espresso yet, but the Machine is warming up right now.

Yes, when one has responsibility for other lives - be they animal or human - one's time is not always one's own, and cannot be called upon as needed.

For that matter, I have small doubt that cats are more than capable of requesting their human companions - a tapped paw on a human face is one method I know that produces results - to abandon the comforts of the duvet, arise, (howsoever reluctantly), and provide them with their (doubtless well deserved) treats.

Be afraid...be very afraid!

You are watched...

Morning espresso has been consumed.

Dessert Oasis Colombian "Bella Vista" blend. 17 grams. Delicious.

My day can begin now.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Espresso is important.

But, so are cats, especially cats that have been kept waiting for their treats.

Now, then, how are the cats and how did they cope with having to wait just that bit longer for their treats?

The feline overlords were quite generous with me this morning in allowing my additional slumber. Once I was permitted to emerge from the bedroom, they offered me the opportunity to serve them their regularly scheduled cat treats one hour later than normal. They're benevolent in their treatment toward me and in general to the subordinate human species.

As of right now they are napping next to me, Puma at my feet and Cassini to my left as I watch a movie on TV which I was gracefully allowed to do. Previously throughout the day they granted me the privedlege of reading a book for many hours which I am grateful for the opportunity.

Presently, they encouraged me to warm up The Machine for an afternoon cup of espresso which shall be enjoyed in about 45 minutes or so, feline approval notwithstanding of course.

How fortunate you are to have such benevolent, generous and gracious feline overlords.

Enjoy the espresso made from the Expobar.

To my astonished delight, they have just (this very August of this very year) launched a new model of the legendary GS/3 Model (the one our friend @Kurwenal teases me with a picture of, every so often).

A new member of the flock.

;-)

Hello friends, I have been absent for far too long. But I have returned with momentous news! After long thought and consideration.....I have decided that I like coffee!

How's that for news.

I can see why you wanted to return after a long, and much missed, absence.

That bit of astounding news, completely unexpected, shocking to me, knock me over with a feather was certainly a good reason to post again.

I have missed your presence, good friend...and am thrilled at the news.

If I can provide any instruction on technique, as I am sure that liking coffee (as you have revealed) also means that you would like to know how to make it properly.

Just ask me any question and I will provide an answer (whether I know what I'm talking about or not.)

I didn't see your new toy...fairly nice.

Just to catch you up on a few of our regular denizens...

@SandboxGeneral is still struggling to get a decent cup of coffee out of his Expobar. He is also frequently sarcastic and cruel to me. But, of course, being a gentleman of perfect manners I forgive him.

@Scepticalscribe still enjoys her coffee, and on very rare occasions might deign to drink a bit of Ethiopian coffee. She also continues to write extremely short posts. But being a wonderful gentleperson, she is always sweet and supportive of me.

@mobilehaathi, as always, goes camping and sometimes comes home to drink coffee. He's also mean to me.

I hope you've noticed that a sweet, kindly, frail, elderly gentleman like myself is often the target of abuse as I am too weak to fight back.

This is all about me, isn't it?

No, no, my friend, I'm just here to keep your senility at bay!

As I said...cruelly reminds me of

Ah, always is mean about

Tries to make me

Well, your newfound love of coffee is surely a shock, but you'll be welcomed here nonetheless. Maybe you should start out with a bit of Folgers Vanilla Biscotti beans and take it from there?

Not sure whether this is the new GS/3, or the venerable and justly famed earlier model. But lovely to see it. (And yes, some day, I think I still want one).

Either way, @Kurwenal, you have been missed and it is wonderful to see you back here, ready to put the rest of us mere mortals right on matters related to coffee preparation and consumption.

My cat is not so kind if she does not get her treats from England, she has been known to get very surly.

So, she remembers that the treats come from England, or associates your re-appearance after a period abroad with a gift of delicious treats?

Yes, I have long assumed that cats and dogs have pretty good powers of recollection and a sort of cognitive capacity for linking memories.

It's my wish to own a La Marzocco linea edition espresso maker. I can't really convince the missus we need one, it's quite pricey (but worth it) and I believe I'd need an RO unit installed in the butler's pantry to feed the machine. Unless they come with an optional tank?
