Elvis? Your mother had a point. Elvis, to me, was never something you could dance to or even listen to. Personally, I've always found that he had one or two songs that were alright, but the rest were awful. When in doubt, classical is always appropriate.

Prior to Elvis and the "Rock and Roll" era, I believe big band and swing was the norm. Correct me if I'm mistaken.

My first espresso of the day was consumed at a small coffee bar in the foyer of a large, impersonal hotel, where we are having meetings. Prior to attending the afternoon sessions, I plan to fortify myself with several more espressos.

Any port in a storm has it's limits.

My in patient experience is the proof.:(

Indeed.

But circumstances can ensure that one is a little more flexible - or understanding - of the gap between what one desires (coffee perfection, god shot) and what the world can provide. Sometimes, it is possible for an accommodation to be reached between both of them.

Just found out what is wrong with America.
My kid revealed to me that at the cafeteria in his High School Red Bull and Monster drinks are served for $1 a can. Coffee is not available. Tea is not available.
I am appalled.

I am also appalled. Disgusted even. Coffee or tea would be far better for high school students than those garbage energy drinks.

What disturbed me is that they don't even give the choice. Coke, Pepsi, Monster, Mountain Dew, Red Bull. but no coffe?!

May I inquire which state you reside in? I've never heard of coffee being served to students in high school. Let alone energy drinks. They serve coffee or swill marketed as coffee to university students. If not, there's always an on campus coffee chain location such as Starbucks.

Had a cappuccino dusted with cinnamon this morning to warm me and my cold soul up.

Having another espresso. I think I'll be taking tomorrow off. I've been feeling under the weather most of yesterday and today. I must have caught something. I'm gutted; I planned on working on walking with the children this week. Decaf coffee with honey and milk fine for a cold? Getting out of bed this morning was a chore. My body was aching all over.

Won't make your cold any worse, but won't make it any better, either.

Unless you have a sore throat...honey might be a bit soothing.

Lots - and that means lots - of hot drinks, as in litres (or pints?) of hot drinks. Lots of water. And bed rest, plenty of bed rest, and sleep.

When I have a cold, I don't even want to touch coffee; candidly, decaf is missing the point - the whole point of coffee is caffeine; personally, I'd prefer to drink water to decaf coffee.

Agreed.

No, not yet. Had a lump-like feeling earlier in the day but it's dissipated. I abhor honey and avoid it when possible. But I don't think I can avoid it now.

I've been fighting a cold all week, it hasn't gotten better, or worse. I've been doing some delicious hot tea (from the UK via friend that just got back) with a locally sourced honey (wildflower, it's got a huge range of flavors, so good), and a nice big pour of Bulleit bourbon :)

Also a local organic OJ with vodka ... and beer, oh, and some wine tonight ... and maybe some more bourbon, straight rocks.

:D

Let's see...bourbon, wine, beer, vodka, more bourbon. I suggest some single malt scotch, and possibly finish off the day with a nice large tot of fine cognac.

Won't help the cold, but you won't give a s**t either.o_Oo_O

When I saw this thread I thought it was for the Espresso application from System 7.5. It was a calendar or something.

You seriously thought that a thread that is all of 299 pages long with almost seven and a half thousand posts was about an operating system that some of us - including your humble scribe - have never heard of?

Anyway, the thread is dedicated to a most civil, and courteous discussion about coffee. And, one of its more sublime variants, namely, espresso coffee.

Like I said. I did when I saw it in the sidebar list. There are always people using crazy old stuff. I quickly realized it wasn't. Thought I'd make a comment anyways in case someone found it humorous. Maybe bring back some memories of a long forgotten product.

Coffee is good too. lol

Had my first double shot espresso this morning at 6AM, reading a couple of articles on the WSJ and the FT. I have to admit I am particularly sleepy in the AM as of lately.
First cup of joe at the office is now gone, looks like it's going to be a slow day. Time for the second cup (while I listen to Dave Ramsey show)

Don't be. Vicarious satisfaction is one of the less appreciated forms of empathetic support.

Anyway, I managed one espresso before having to undertake a trip to an airport and then a flight........

My dear friend...as alway, I appreciate your support.

And while I am jealous and miss my espresso...I am quite satisfied that I am able to enjoy my delicious, and well prepared (if I do say so myself:p) FP coffee.

As I approach the second anniversary of My Great Stupid Act, I am quite happy with what functions have returned. So many with similar injuries to mine are in much worse shape. So even though, for example, I walk funny...stumbly and staggery...I can walk. The same with my coffee...it's not espresso, but it is great coffee, nonetheless:).
