Have to say that the LavAzza Gran Riserva Intenso beans beats the dutch dark roast I’ve been having lately. Had expected that.
Intense darkroast, but a bit sweeter and softer.
Glad I have almost 6kg ahead of me.
Will take break though with other beans I have.

Really Looking forward to roast and try the green beans I found.

Machine is cleaned & happy too :)

Currently having some pressed Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. Something brighter for this terribly hot weather. I hope you're fairing better than us downstate, @mobilehaathi.
Last year around this time we had a heatwave where it was hitting 100+, so I can handle a few days of 85 around here.

Although, I just spend a week in New Orleans, so this is comparative bliss to 95F with an 80F dew point.

Ah, New Orleans.

There are not all that many places I would like to see in the US (a country that, for all of my travels, I have never visited) but New Orleans is one of them.

No coffee or other hot liquids for a few days after tomorrow. Fine by me with this weather. I poured out a pressing of Kenyan AA (after having Ethiopian) and couldn't sip it down even with the house very cold.

Quite an interesting place geographically and historically. We had a nice time in spite of the weather.
Did you have the beignets?

Naturally, and they were quite tasty too. Chewy and custard-y on the inside, crispy on the outside, and hot out of the fryer.
Made them once a few years ago in 2011 or 2010 using a recipe I'd gotten off the net. It made a lot of dough and it took while to get through it (froze most of it). If I made it again, I'd probably add a tiny bit of saffron and turmeric for color. Just so that it's prettier than the off-white. Orange zest to boot.

Drinking mildly cold water right now. Had to stop myself several times from eating or drinking (booze or coffee or tea). Gum procedure was relatively quick. Private appointment at 5 AM. Minor stitches that'll dissolve in a couple weeks. Water and mild salt solution. Hadn't eaten anything until a half hour ago and it was a fairly bland fruit smoothie. Not very hungry given the soreness and general weather affecting my mood.

But I can have coffee after 48 hours. It just has to be room temperature or cold. No hot drinks for a short while.

Going to blend some Kenyan AA and Ethiopian Yirgacheffe for a cold brew. I should user cheaper coffee for this but I don't feel like navigating town in this weather and likely getting stuck in traffic.

Glad to hear that things went well for you.

When do you expect that you will be able to sip and savour proper real (hot) coffee?

Probably 3-4 days from now. I want to avoid any issues or stinging pain which OTC pain killers fail to subside. Though with this weather we're having I'm not in the mood for anything hot regardless of how cold it is inside the house. Not worried about the power going out either. The second it does the natural gas generator kicks in. Tested it out last week for its annual inspection.

Perhaps some near body temp herbal tea would be soothing.

An excellent idea.

Whenever I am feeling a bit under the weather, tea seems much more appropriate than does coffee.

A soothing herbal tea, at close to body temperature, or perhaps white tea (which I have come to really like) - allowed cool to close to body temperature - could offer some comfort in the meanwhile.

Can't fault that choice, as it is one I would probably choose myself.

But maybe not for healing gums until the process of healing was well underway.

Awww. It was a recommendation for a minor ailment. I don’t think I have any cognac in the house; I’m not sure I’ve even had it....yet. (I only know/heard XO and coffee is a good combination.) I’ve also heard it’s good with a cigar....that’s definitely out for me.

XO cognac (on account of its quality of velvet smoothness and perfect balance) is an excellent combination - the best possible combination - with coffee.

When settings -or context - suggest, company is congenial, and/or funds permit, this is my post prandial beverage of choice.

Atmosphere and company definitely can make or break a mood or cocktail. That’s why I limit my contact with the outside world. :)

And well said, and how right.

Have just been perusing the website of the Ethiopian Coffee Company in London; they are due a phone call from me.

Meanwhile, off to prepare some coffee. Ethiopian, naturally.

Trying some very diluted cold brew. Had a brain fart earlier and had some lemonade which sent me reeling from the sharp burning sensation. Diluted cold brew isn't very tasty. Tastes like a spoon of molasses in a liter of water. Something your nan would give you when you were terribly sick and couldn't eat. Yuck.
