"Washed" and "naturally dried" are two different ways of treating coffee beans once they have been picked.

What is of interest is that the exact same coffee bean crop can result in two coffees that taste quite different - sometimes, strikingly differently - depending on how they were "treated" (whether "washed" or "naturally dried" usually referred to as "natural") when they were picked.

A new year, a new fitness plan/idea. Ordered an Americano on the Costa app, walked the 10 minutes to the shop, picked up coffee and the 10 minute walk back home. I always go out for an half hour walk but sometimes find it hard if there's nothing to go out for, a paper, some mike etc so the coffee is a nice little incentive (if not 1/2 hour). A nice walk today as a lovely clear and sunny day. A bit chilly at 4C though.

I went for a short bike ride to get rid of the cobwebs, even though it's only 1°C here. I didn't stop for coffee (no cafes are open and I have too much coffee at home to buy a takeaway one), but there's something comforting about coming in from the cold and making a nice, big mug of caffe latte.

And in the manner of the 'scribe: Latin American blend of 80% Arabica, 20% Robusta (according to the packet!), full-fat organic milk, no sugar.

Edit: Added "C" so you know it wasn't 1°F!

The opposite problem of waiting too long to reorder coffee; too much coffee on the shelf!

For me it's mostly a problem that happens during the Christmas gift giving season.

My Mum’s birthday today. She’s 81. Made her a nice latte and took it over to her house for her. She has a flask that I gave her at the start of this COVID crisis and every now and again she’ll send it back over with my Dad for a refill.

She tells me my coffee is a lot nicer than “the stuff” my brother gives her. I wonder if she says the same to him?...
