I tell myself every time I try dial in a light roast, not to go down that fail path, keep that for pour over go buy a dark for espresso. I never listen to myself. Ahh, its a fun frustrating hobby.

was the use of a light roast a result of not having an espresso roast available?

Mostly. I don't like dark roast that much, prefer medium, and for pourovers I like light. So much more forgiving to make a dark espresso. For me (my lack of skill) and my machine, with anything light or light/medium I will pull a bunch of bad shots before I get to an average one. I just add milk to the bad ones so I am not wasting them.

Reminder to all to try the “Ross droplet” technique for improved extraction of your coffee beans. A little spritz of water to the beans prior to grinding can go a long way.

Ah.

Do enjoy, and what a lovely, thoughtful, gift.

Where does the coffee hail from?

It's from Rwanda; bright, fruit focused, sort of a wine-like mouthfeel, and just really nice to sip.

On Saturday a couple of youngsters I know had unexpectedly stopped by; out riding their bikes and found themselves nearby my place and had decided to say hello, so they said. After they had left, I discovered a small package sitting in front of my computer.....I suspect their mother was involved in selecting the coffee

That is absolutely wonderful, and a lovely thought and appropriate gift.

Do enjoy.

Disgusting here too. Enjoying 100% pure Kona coffee from the Mamalahoa Estate. It's rich, balanced and tropical according to the packaging, and I do not disagree.
Enjoy.

These are the sort of days when coffee is more than a necessity.
it's a sunny morning here and I'm enjoying some of my current supply of Ethiopian coffee.....and putting off chores that need to be done until later
Enjoy your coffee and your sunshine.

Got home from a week away (son has been house minding, feeding the cat and re-arranging the household network so he can play his games on the big TV). Went to make coffee (Jeds, from the house of Douwe Egberts, the people who make Moccona). The milk was off. Had to make do with some UHT Lactose-free milk, which is not quite the same.
The Jeds beans are nice, but only because I was able to get them at half price.

No, UHT milk is never the same, unfortunately, which is why I mostly tend to take my coffee black when abroad.

A Knockbox alone I don't need, and I've seen the Sage/Breville's Boxes.
I'm more thinking along this line. There's a few that I'm comparing - might be this one!

I bought this one 😄
Now it goes in return - no good fit for my porta filter.
See what ideas will come next? Maybe not buying it online until I know.
Might take a check down town.

No complains on my espresso or my new cups though - perfect 👍🏻

I will say this, all the Costa Rican coffee I had this year has been knocking it out the park.

Sipping a Costa Rican coffee right now and smiling at the sky.
