Early Saturday morning, just getting the new machine in.
I feel kinda “guilty” at this, the current one is fine.. the new one power switch is on the back, the Breville is on the front, I like front better.
Need to learn the new settings .
New one slightly bigger.

All 3 here this weekend, my daughter getting the Breville as “hand me down”, she’s excited.
Bonus is when I visit her, great espresso there and I know how to use the machine

I would think most people would have the machine on their kitchen counter with the back very close to a wall. Why would the company put the power switch on the back?

After reading the quick start guide, and the owners manual, nothing mentioned.
However.. after using it, kept on, seems 3-4 minutes later it does go into a sleep mode. Touch a button, it wakes up and starts the pre heat cycle. Found that out by just observing and testing.

Now off to testing this new thing

I also have a DeLonghi - not as fancy as the one above though.

Main power switch is at the back, but there's a button on the front to turn the machine off (standby) in addition to a (programmable delay) automatic standby.

Lovely story and lovely pictures posted, @mtbdudex, thanks for sharing this with you.

Well wear on your new DeLonghi, and I hope your daughter enjoys the Breville that she has received.

Meanwhile, I have enjoyed several mugs of sublime coffee from El Salvador today.

“Less is more”, well I’ve gone back to a pure single shot espresso, instead of a double-double. The foldable raised holder for single shot small cups is nice touch to ensure easy centering .

I do like the integrated grind / tamper design, no more over spillage of grind.
That was my only negative for the Breville machine this replaced.

I’m am pretty sure my next Espresso-machine will be one with AI.

They do exist already, but my machine will keep me good for some more years, until AI machines have evolved some more.

Hope with all power of the Universe that Apple don’t get into this business with Siri, though.

Don't risk it! It may decide you've had enough caffeine for the day.
Fortunately that is not a problem for me these days.
I have been down that road, so I know for sure what causes it, and how to set things right too.
Honestly I even skip the caffeine and the espresso(s) some days, and that is not a bad thing here and there.

Not today however, sipping on a great late double espresso at this very moment.

This machine just made the best, smoothest, richest cup of coffee I’ve ever tasted.
Was not expecting that.
Good for you, but that also reveals that you haven't visited many good barisra/espresso-shops 😉

The best espressos I've got served, was in the many excuisite espresso-bars I've visit in New York.
Can't say they are much worse here either - it's a joy every time you meet a barista that is that extra passionate and put his soul into the espresso making to serve you the absolutely best.

Sipping on a late espresso made from the Mexican beans, that is not bad at all either.

I can't speak for @mtbdudex, but I'm certainly in that camp. I prefer my espresso over anything I've had out.

Making the drink myself adds a lot to the enjoyment. Probably I'd think mine tastes better even if it tastes the same as something made by someone else. But, I suspect @mtbdudex drink really was better. That's one nice looking machine that I'm extremely jealous of.

I think I agree with your wife 😉

My 19 year old marine is home for 30 days awaiting his MSO to open up, he’s doing local recruitment while home. In the meantime he’s a coffee snob , well enthusiast, like dad.
He agrees our new machine does a first rate job making pressed coffee, so smooth and creamy taste.
6:20am here

The oz size it dispenses on a double filter is 6 oz. Guess us Americans are used to MOAR, but here less is more.

It occurred to me (yesterday) that my coffee supplies are beginning to run a little low; thus, today's trip to the city included some coffee - I bought two, one from El Salvador, and the other from Costa Rica.

Yesterday I felt the same about my coffee supplies, so I ordered more - one from Ethiopia and one from Colombia
