Very true, it's easy to loose track on the bigger picture while we're being in this torturous waiting state, but yeah, we ordered excellent MacBooks and we'll get them relatively soon. I just wish I was more patient :D
What was the configuration of your 16"? I ordered mine with 16GB of RAM with the full M1 Pro die.. I'm running the MBA1 with 8GB of RAM so I'm curious to see if the 16Gb will be enough for me for daily workloads.

But man the biggest upgrade for me is being able to connect to two external displays.

I'm "upgrading" from a 16" 5500M/8GB 64/2TB to a 14" M1Max 24GPU 32/2TB. I never really needed GPU or 64GB, so this 14" will be just perfect! My main upgrade will be working without blaring fans...

Hello! Joining this thread now as well to share my shipping status with others and read your updates.

I have ordered a MacBook Pro 14" with M1 Pro (10‑Core CPU, 16‑Core GPU), 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD, with US-keyboard layout (I am from Germany, but prefer the US layout for programming).

I ordered right after the keynote ended and my delivery timeframe is Nov 3 - Nov 8.
The status of my order is currently "Processing".

From yesterday evening it is shipped. Money were deducted from bank account as well.
I am wondering, Jára, which configuration did you order?

16” M1 Max 32 GPU / 32 RAM / 1 TB SDD - not happy with the price especially when I do not do many things on PC but I was looking for some great future proof laptop and want to run Windows as well so 32 GB RAM was a must and then there was not so much difference in price when taking 16/24/32 GPU.
I think for my browsing internet and student things it is overkill. And I have iPad M1 as well..

I have also been using a Mac with 8GB RAM, and for my workload it started to be not enough. So I ordered the base 16" - M1 Pro, 16 GB, 512 GB with English (USA keyboard; the German keyboard is not so convenient for programming). I think this should be enough for the next 5 years or so. And then we'll be having an M5 Pro or something, so RAM or not, it might be worth upgrading :D

Sounds like the 27th October - 4 November crew might only get a shipping confirmation on Monday at this point.
I called Apple Support once again today (the friendly lady recognised me from yesterday, lol), and she assured me that everything is fine and that we most probably will see the charges happening next week.

I‘m curious, why do you buy such an expensive laptop if you want to use it mainly for internet browsing?
But I agree, for running virtual machines, 32GB RAM is a must have!

Still processing. Ordered a 16" M1 Max / 64GB / 1TB with US-keyboard layout. (Netherlands) estimated 29 oct - 1 nov. Also looking forward to a macbook that doesn't take off with even the smallest of tasks :).

Sounds like an amazing config to me!
And I can't wait for us all to integrate it into our everyday-workflows!

To me it seems like those custom configurations are doomed for later delivery dates.
I don't know of anyone (apart from people who ordered the default configurations) who receive it on launch day.
Most people do customizations, and changing the keyboard layout seems to be the cherry on top (I am sitting in the same boat, but the US keyboard layout is way to important for me so I rather wait a couple of days longer…can't wait for November 3 ?)

Exactly, I'd rather wait (and be tortured every second of it) and get a US layout, than rush with a keyboard that's less optimal for me. Having said that, the waiting is killing me ?

But are we getting them on the 27th? I just wanted it until Friday because of the public holiday on Monday lol.

I gotta use the Migration Assist from my MBA M1 due to the amount of scripts I have on my Terminal

I’ve ordered the 14’ with M1 Max 32 cores GPU, 32GB RAM, and 2Tb SSD. With the education discount I saved nearly 500€.

Delivery window is Nov 8th-11th.

Coming from a first gen 2016 13’, it’s gonna be day and night.

That's the hope, let's see. I'll be much more relaxed once I see the charge on my CC.

To be honest. I do not know. Maybe learn new things. But I want to have one main computer that I will last for years. Now I am selling Macbook Pro 2018 where I suffer from 8 GB RAM and 256 HDD (Almost can not install Win on Parallels because there will be no remaining space).. and I want 16” because 13.3” was very small when I was studying MBA (but I got LG Ultrawide Monitor), it was the same size as iPad Pro and I do not like it.

So.. still thinking to cancel that and buy lower specs but if I take 16” and 32 GB RAM what I want, the price difference in CPU and graphics are neglectable in comparison to whole price ??‍♂️

I am not sure right now about my choice, I was looking forward to new Macbook Pro but the price is really bad, so I am still deciding to return it and take base model with 16 GB RAM. But I did this mistake with MBP2018 when I took lower specs and was waiting for new MBP to change it. And this looks like real revolution what I was looking for.

If you will keep it for five years or longer it will be worth it. But keep in mind that you burn money if you decide to sell your MacBook Pro in two years. The base configurations keep their value best.

Do not want to sell it in two years it should be longer investment but I love techs and I did not think that I will sell Macbook Pro 2018 two years later as well ?

If you interested in infrastructure or development the MBP will be a fine companion! I have seen a lot of people buying the M1 Macs during the early part of the pandemic and starting to learn to code!

Then your only job now is to make peace with the price you paid and hang on to it a little longer this time. ?

Yes I was pretty quick on the store, I did see a 26th delivery for all basic configs but any custom option was always a 29 - 01 so I was not suprised because BTO is always a bit later. Did anyone in Europe got a BTO for 26th? After multiple refresh and credit card attempts my order was finally in at 19:58 and I thought that was pretty quick o_O.
