With an overwhelming majority of 12% of all votes, the Orange Alpine Loop is a winner by far this year.
Hmm overwhelming votes for Orange Alpine Loop... I guess only Ultra owners have voted this time 🤣

Based on the votes in total and my experiences, you couldn’t be more wrong. Additionally, a lot of people enjoy the three new band types on a regular watch, so it’s absolutely not limited to Ultra owner.
If there’s something which might have influenced the opinion, it’s a new band type in a flashy color.
I never thought of that. Likely did play into it somewhat. Also, the Alpine was way more readily available when the Ultra was released than the Trail Loop so more folks „automatically“ got first-hand experience with it.
According to my measurements… it’s 23mm wide.Does anyone know the width (in mm) of the Apple Ocean band?
Great, thank you.According to my measurements… it’s 23mm wide.
And seemingly all apple nylon products, wow. Interesting that it all still goes to China or Vietnam for assembly and finishing.Happy holidays, folks!
For your consideration, I found a much more detailed article about the (relatively) small Japanese company that, as it turns out, does not only manufacture the Alpine Loop, but also the Trail Loop:
The fruit of collaboration between Fukui craftsmanship and Apple
Hearing Mr. Cook’s words reminded me of the word “Industrial Craftmanship” coined by a prominent Japanese product designer, Naoto Fukasawa. He used this word to describe Apple’s manufacturing.
Jay Elliot, who worked at Apple in its early days and was called Steve Jobs’ business mentor, described this kind of relationship between Apple and its suppliers as more like “insourcing” than “outsourcing”. (…) Mr. Nobunari Sawanobori, the president of Teikoku Ink, which supplies white ink for the iPhone, once said, “The loss of learning through working with Apple is a bigger loss than the loss of orders from Apple.”
makes me wonder how much they get per band, $15?Happy holidays, folks!

I’ve seen a few sport loops that come in this XL size. The only one I see direct from Apple in Canada right now is the midnight sports loop, but there have been others.I purchased this “XL” band on eBay because I thought it was a typo but sure enough it is longer than the average Sport Loop at 29cm instead of the usual 22cm. Has anyone heard of the any of the Sport Loop models available in different lengths? Only thing I can thing of is maybe this was sold exclusively at a Big & Large store. I have never heard of other stores getting additional sizes before.
