That's me. I don't think I could wear the 45
My wife was 100% against anything bigger than the 41mm. I upgraded from the S7 45mm to an Ultra 2 and she decided to try my S7 for a day. That was over a month ago now and she hasn't gone back to the 41mm since. She adapted... others will too. If the 41mm isn't made anymore people will adapt. Its honestly pretty rare to see the 41mm in the wild anymore anyways. I bet their sales were less than 10% of total watch sales over the past couple years.

As long as the new smaller variant uses the bands of the current smaller variant, I will be okay with the increase in size. If it doesn’t…….

Yeah my latest thought while falling asleep last night is their data shows the 41mm isn’t actually wanted.

And maybe the increased body width:band width ratio works with more pancaked device thickness.

Not quite a released band but still cool to post for documenting purposes.

Prototype Apple Sport Deployment Band, in 42mm red.

The Sport variant of this came in White and Red as far as we know, and the Leather variants, which resemble Classic Buckles but with this Deployment-ModernBuckle hybrid style, came in Saddle Brown, Red, and a weird Hypergrape purple that is almost identical to the Black/Hypergrape Nike Sport Band color. As far as i know theres maybe <15 of these style of bands in total that have been seen in the wild, amongst all the known variants.

In terms of feel, this band is very much early stages still and not all the metal edges are perfect yet, but it is surprisingly comfy on the wrist. Getting it adjusted to the right size is a bit of a pain since the gap where the second piece slides into is very tight, though this could just be because the tolerances weren't yet dialed in. It sticks out quite a bit from the wrist since its effectively 2 layers of sport band with metal mechanism in between. The tolerances on the buttons is great, the locking feeling is very satisfying, and the actual deployment mechanism is a very simple mechanism, effectively just a Y piece that acts as a spring bar with buttons on either end and some locking teeth.

Probably one of my favorite collection pieces. I'm still working on getting the Leather variant of one to show it off up close

Wow that deployment band looks awesome, I’m a big fan of deployment buckles. Can you give us a little background on those pictures, are they prototypes, recent or old?

They are Prototypes yes. They would've been developed likely around 2015-2017 era since theyre only ever seen with 42mm tags on the leather ones and no tags on the sport versions although they are all 42mm. They also share a lot of similarities with classic buckles and modern buckles of that era to some degree. Why they were dropped from production and development is beyond me, though I do have a bunch of ideas about why ranging from clasp reliability to clasp production cost relative to target price, or too much overlap with classic buckle and modern buckle aesthetically. Who knows.

There's the other band variants that I mentioned above. Not mine but thats a good idea in terms of what they looked like.

I own a few Hermes bands, a leather and 3 rubber Kilim bands with the deployment buckle, the buckles are high end and very well made. So easy to put on wrist, comfortable as well. Apple probably didn’t make them due to cost of a high quality buckle which would have added $50-75 on top of the normal band price.
Thanks for sharing these bands with us, in my 2 years of collecting 125 apple and Hermes
Bands, this is the first time I’ve ever seen these.

Hermes 38mm Bleu Jean Double Tour.

I bought this off of someone who basically had it in their closet since 2015. has a T datecode stamp on it. Came with the original Hermes price tag too and I can tell this band only say maybe a day or 2 of usage before me. I barely see the double tour pop up in this color, so having an OG one is super cool

I’m really hoping new Apple Watches bring us something similar to the clay color.

Ever since I switched to an Apple Watch Ultra 2 earlier this year, I’ve been so mad I missed when the clay braided solo loop was out. 😫

Does anyone else have hope that band compatibility will remain unaffected based on the latest rumours that there’s only going to be a 1mm size increase?

It almost looks to me like they're going to move to a one size fits all system where 42/44/45/49mm bands will work on all S10 and Ultra 3 watches. They'll keep 41mm around for the SE, but series and ultra will all share the larger size.

Of course this is just speculation on my part. It's equally likely they just rename 41mm to 42mm and 45mm becomes 46mm, but this makes it suuuuuper confusing because now there will be a small 42mm and a large 42mm put there. This is why I don't see Apple doing this.

No I’m just glad it’s sane and we’re not getting the drastic size jumps. I think it’s been long enough they can safely memory hole the 42mm biggie.

The description in the store will say “this band fits 40, 41, 42mm watches.” There’s no biggie band with 42mm markings left.

Right? Check my work I just woke up

The Stainless Link Bracelets are still listed at 38mm and 42mm as they have not been updated since launch with the Series 0, but I believe they are the only ones.
