I would second the Vitamin C recommendations. Easily my favorite color of the season in loops. For bands, Cactus is just such an awesome color. I hated it when I ordered the color for my iPad Pro case. But I LOVE it in sport band form.

I am actually working on a 3D print CAD for a new watchband holder so I decided to lay out the collection. I am missing a handful I own that aren’t pictured (dragonfruit/spearmint and a handful of Nike releases). I laid them all out to measure and count and was kind of taken aback by the count. Whoops!

Woah. Awesome collection!

If you can, add a track in your CAD to insert a piece of paper above the band, where you can then write in the name. Would be a good way to keep inventory.

There's nothing stopping us from setting up a subreddit...
OK, so what is the advantage in having 2 places for the same conversation?

I’ve never felt the need to become involved with Reddit - Google can search it and find me useful info that I’m looking for on occasion and that’s enough for me.

Not joining unless someone explains why I’d want to read the same stuff posted across two places. This thread already takes up plenty of my time. It makes the band collecting obsession more fun, but I don’t see why it isn’t enough.

Yeah, I end up spending more time here than there. Only recently have I actually become a member here instead of just using it for search things. EDIT: Oh wait, different subreddit, I’ll join that one too.

I can’t seem to find a cornflower loop, lucky you :( it’s high on my band want list.
I’m looking and I got the 40mm cornflower as recently as January for under thirty bucks...hopefully the market hasn’t dried up and a diligent eBay habit (I like manually searching every few days) will turn one up!

Seeing I got the cerulean in November right after I decided I needed both light blues to pair with the white case, so maybe only a few more months. Trust me I’m right there with you just with nectarine, so many in the 44mm size for cheap but $100 for the 40mm grr 😩

Yeah we have a beautifully crackling human linear and completely searchable and hyperlink-nesting thread right here, folks. Upvote culture sucks.

edit: we also have the killer show off thread here with the same energy but a little more of that “post whatever” Reddit feel

The Reddit r/AppleBandMarket is still pretty useful since this forum doesn’t let you sell anything (without sufficient post count) even if you’ve been a member for years 😓 I just did some spring cleaning on my band collection and listed a bunch. It was getting out of hand. But now it has a chance to grow out of hand all over again.

It’s definitely enough. Just nice to have options, even if you don’t use them!

All good, I just don’t see the need to dilute what is posted here with another thread, and I certainly don’t need to see 90% the same stuff somewhere else from 75% the same people.

I guess also I like a bit of moderation. There’s one particular user on here that I have noticed repeatedly and frequently post unsubstantiated and sometimes incorrect opinion as fact on all sorts of threads. I got my wrist slapped (and legitimately so) a few weeks ago for getting a bit pointed with my replies calling that user out. If it hadn’t been moderated that could have escalated and arguing on the internet is just a total waste of everyone’s time.

Selling is fair enough, I think the marketplace policy here is perhaps a wee bit too restricted. I don’t think I have access to it yet. I was told when I’d earned access to a religion and politics area I have less than zero desire to even look at, but nothing similar regarding marketplace.

I just checked. I think I’m 14 messages away from access to the marketplace. Woop

I come here because there are people with interesting viewpoints who can provide interesting and useful information (and fabulous pictures). Reddit can do that too - in general - it remains to be seen if the subreddit in question can do that well. But if it can, more information from more different sources is often a good thing.

Reddit, in general, has a much larger active userbase than MacRumors, so has a potential for more interesting viewpoints, though the subreddit in question has a small userbase. I joined it, because it looks interesting. I'm on a lot of different subreddits, but mostly don't pay attention to most of them (attention comes and goes over time, depending on what topics currently hold my interest). So... we'll see? That's not a ringing endorsement, I know.

Is it expected that Apple will release a new Pride band this year?
It would certainly follow established patterns. Which is about as good an indicator as we can expect for Apple, short of an announcement.

Ok I will hold off. I have been contemplating buying a pride band and the 2019 one is still available but I’m curious to see what this year’s will look like first.

If I had to guess, 2018 Woven Nylon Pride in sport loop style?

Nah, that might be a bit of an outdated design. Pretty good chance it’ll be a sport loop though, because there’s nothing else they can really shove 6 colors on.

Like I said before, all the Summer 2020 bands are likely already in production, so there are definitely people in the production line or even distribution who have seen the new colors. Man, if only people were as excited to leak the band colors as much as they are to leak the iPhone.

Edit:

Actually, looking back, I don’t think they’ll go with 2018 Pride’s style at all. Pretty sure that was only chosen to match the striped nylons they were selling alongside the Pride.

I actually like the 2018 style and would love to see that in a sport loop. I like the inclusion of the white stripes which makes it feel fresher to me than the 2019 one which feels a bit too saturated.

Great idea. I actually will be using a clear hard plastic channel to go above each row of the rack so I can slide the names around easier as I move and reorganize bands. Which I expect would happen fairly often

I am trying to size it so it ends up being the exact same length as my dressers (2 IKEA MALMS) side by side. Should be able to get roughly 50 bands across or so.

The other challenge is making sport loops look decent hanging. I might also whip up a small clip to hold the band tighter together. Some of the older lengths have too much loop slack.

I feel the same way trying to find 44mm! The 40mm seems to be way cheaper in a lot of instances when I’m looking for something.

Waiting for them to do a lavender Nike band with the holes being a rainbow of colors.

Those words don't make sense when applied to colors - I mean, I know what "too" means and what "saturated" means, but a color being "too saturated"? What kind of gibberish is that, I can't understand it.

Was thinking the same thing, using a Nike band for 2020 Pride, but then you’d get a bunch of legalities with Nike associating with Pride (don’t know if they want to do that) as well as raising the question of if Nike would even want to make a band that’s not using Nike colors. Also, how would it look from the backside?

Aweone idea, but unfortunately I don’t think there’s a good way to execute it.

I'm really bad at modelling, and nothing is to scale, but reading that gave me this idea:

Basically, at the top you have the extruded channel for the paper to slide in to label the band, and the indentation you see right under that is to hold the top of the band. On the underside of that, you have a hole in which you can insert an optional second piece (preferably in clear plastic) that will run the length of the loop (behind it, out of sight,) which then holds the loop tightly at the bottom with a removable rod.

If you really know what you're doing, putting an LED every other band or so sort of where the orange dot is would be really cool.

Probably not the best way to go about it, but it was the first idea that came to mind!

I just realized the knockoffs beat Apple to it.

Not great quality, but gives you a good idea.

Also, find it funny how they stuck a S4 face on a S3 device. Why not just keep the S4? weird.

That’s in-line the whole branding of pride though, isn’t it? Besides.. we have enough muted options already! Let the people have some color, I say! Bring on the saturation. Can’t be alone in this thinking, as some of the most prized bands are indeed the more “saturated” ones, too.

It’s the sub I tend to frequent the most, although the main AW subreddit is pretty good lately. Side note, I believe I snagged some bands from you tonight if you listed around the same time this post was.

That’s a really cool idea around the rod concept. I might try to scale something to size tomorrow if I have time. There’s got to be a clean way of doing it while accounting for the various lengths of loops over the years. For LEDs, I’ll probably end up putting a shelf above the display with a downward facing HUE strip to hit the bands. I need a new shelf for shoes anyway (the other bad habit)

I found this on thingiverse, though it'd look really really cool hanging on a wall.

If you have a 3D Printer, can you try printing maybe 10 or so and hang them on the wall? Would love to see how this looks.

That’s really cool! Haven’t seen that one yet. If I get around to printing one I’ll share here. The only downside I see is for hanging leather loops. Probably would say too much. And I could see the design getting messy for the bands in the middle needing to be slid off. But I think for maybe the “favorite” pieces you’d want to display it could work. It’s nice to use my printer for fun stuff finally!
