no mac yet, im waiting until tomorrow, but I probably wont be able to get it until the end of the month as i don’t see any time for me to get up to the apple store (schedule is "booked" solid)

some specs:

left part of desk:
TiVo
GameCube
HD cable box (time warner)
PS3
DVD player

also: calc, psp, DS

32" HDTV
22" Samsung monitor
iPhone (8 gig, vaja case)
19" monitor
wacom
30gig iPod

when i do get my mac im getting another 22" and going to use the maxtor thing, and their all going to be wall mounted.

also my desk usually does look like this, except some more papers on the monitor side (homework, notebook, etc)

Nice. I have the same HD Cable Box (Adelphia/Comcast/TimeWarner)

so what exactly do you do that you need a mac pro, 9 gig ram, 30" cinema display and a blackbook?

1) HDV editing
2) Aperture work
3) Maya + other 3D apps

Sure I'm still in school but I do lots of work outside of it with video editing + modeling (helped me buy my setup, actually). Yes, my parents did help but I contributed around half overall.

The macbook is for school and for demoing movies etc. (much more efficient then burning tons of dvds)

Don't you hate it when you get questions if you actually need your computers?

We run a small Video/Image Editing/Consultant/Repair/Web Design company in my small town and there are usually three of us which between us we have:

2 MBPs
3 iMacs
1 G5 +studio display
iBook
Powerbook
and my Blackbook coming soon

Please explain your NEED for a MacPro AND a Macbook at the age of 16.

Why do i feel like this is just in your house and not really 'yours'(macpro)

Just asking.

Maybe if you actually READ the damn thread instead of automatically targeting young people you're jealous of, you would see WHY he needs it. He fully justified it.

Just asking.

I addressed my "need" for a macpro and macbook in an earlier post..

My parents do most of their work out of the house.. Though my dad does have a macpro at his office, if you're wondering.

I don't have anything to prove, though, so lets leave it at that :).

Very nice setups! I think it's awesome when young people are able to acquire high end equipment to go with their developing, and already high end skills. I don't doubt for a second that any of you with Mac Pros are using them for what they are intended, and then some. I think it's a fair assumption that anyone willing to take the time to post their setup and let others see, is quite proud of their equipment, and use them to learn, gain experience, play, and plain old enjoy. It doesn't mean you are a spoiled brat hehe. The vast majority of us adults were financially supported by a parent(s), and did our best to supplement with what we could earn. Don't even listen to anyone who claims otherwise.

I remember spending hours upon hours coding on my Commodore 64, and later Amiga (dating myself here!). I was quite proud to have managed to purchase them on my own with babysitting money. The skills you guys are gaining, and already possess, will serve you well now and in the future. Hats off to all of you.

To Customisbetter: Good for you for trying to build that system on your chair. I haven't seen an emac in a while. They're nice looking systems. Oh, and nice speakers! Is that an amp in the foreground? The colorful webbing I see hanging on the wall? What's that? Belts? Anyway, thanks for sharing, all of you.

very sorry my man. I didn't mean to come off rude or anything. This was a long thread and didn't realize you had addressed it prior. Like I said I was just asking. Good to see you are making use of your very nice set up

It's no problem :). I understand why anyone would ask questions like that after seeing that setup, and especially after hearing that the owner was 16.

Truth be told, I worked my @$$ off to help earn my setup, so I couldn't really resist showing it off here..
