I dunno if its just me, but Quadra is such a cool name. It sounds so sophisticatedly powerful. I think they should call the 4 processor core Mac Pro's "Mac Pro Quadra's".

It just sounds so cool...

Jeep has "QuadraDrive" and "QuadraTrac" and there is a catalog called "QuadraTec". Those are all pretty cool names.

Sorry for rambling

I always felt that way about the Quadra name, too.

wow that is a really really really nice setup. i love your room!!! the wood on the walls is really amazing! suhc natural colours in it. nice old mac lappy u got there. wat year/model is that one?

The laptops are a Lombard (Powerbook G3) and a 3400c.

The wood on the walls is fake wood paneling that's been here since forever.

backsidetailsli:

Too many posters, and I don't like Rotosounds much to be honest (yeah, I saw the poster)

Not bad though, might get one of them Axioms for my set up at some point, when I have more space.

Personally I don't think to be a metalhead you have to like Iron Maiden, unless of course you like to hear galloping constantly...........

yeah i agree, i use DR strings, much better.
i recommend the axiom
and i never said you have to listen to iron maiden, and no, im not a metalhead.. im in a ska band..

Dude, your setup is awesome! I love that setup, teh bullets and of course Eddie!

I have that bass DI! its awesome! loving the eddie stuff too

thanks!

well, the iBook may have a buyer ($400 bucks too), but I think the PowerBook's staying for a little while longer. Grimace gave me a nice deal on it and I intend to use it in school for essays, web stuff, etc.

And even if I were to sell them all for one unit, I wouldn't get a MacBook. I personally hate the design and think it's flawed in many ways (don't start a war here, just saying). I'd probably spring for either a PowerMac G5 or a newer iBook or PowerBook. I'd ideally like a MBP in the future, but I have a few more sales to do in order to work up the cash.

Are you in high school or college? I don't like the macbook very much either, and decided to go with the macbook pro. Good luck!

H.S. student myself, and I feel an 800MHz G4 is more than enough for my needs (and 1GB of RAM).

The PowerBook feels about as snappy as my Dual 500MHz PowerMac (Had this one the longest, love it to death), which has 1.12GB and a Radeon 9000. I have used the new Intels and don't find the speed boost that impressive for the stuff I do, only the processor intensive junk that I rarely do. And even with that, rendering some PS filter at 4 seconds rather than 2.06 seconds isn't really going to bother me (fake figures, just giving an example).

Plus, when my computers run circles around my other friends' PCs, i get the added bonus of saying they're 5 or 6 years old :)

Ya, I'm in high school too, and I want to get through at least my sophomore year in college before I get a new one (I'm a sophomore right now), which is why I went with the macbook pro.

Funny you should say that, because thats what I plan to do with my next unit.

Hopefully a 1.67 PB or a MBP will grace the surface of my desk soon...

13.3 inch White MacBook Core 2 Duo 160GB HDD 1GB of RAM

Extra stuff:
30GB iPod Video
4GB iPod Product RED
Canon iP4300 (not opened)
Sony Cybershot (not sure what model)

Sweet setup, but seriously, sell a couple of those and buy a newer machine like a MacBook!

I actually disagree. Both of those are fantastic computers, and both have quite a bit of life left in them yet! I think you should never replace a computer unless it becomes unable to do what you want it to do.

My thoughts exactly.

It's becoming apparent to me that no one seems to be noticing my poor little G4 tower under my desk. That's the image displaying on my cruddy CRT (the Dell LCD is dying and shuts off randomly. I decided to go with something what works every time you turn it on)

Oh well, I suppose the TiBook and iBook are the stars of the show anyhow.

I love older iBooks and Mac laptops, they feel really 'used' and 'experienced', not that that actually makes any sense...
