wat kind of quota size do yous have 4 ur network drives???

our school has 30mb quotas, which makes our network fast. too bad i somehow haev a 250mb quota

Ha, I remember when I was still in high school, they didn't have any (ANY) sort of quota on shared network drives. Well, this may have been a few years ago, but we could also p2p through the school as we pleased, until they found out (that wasn't until we accumulated almost 20+gigs over a few days :D (I boarded during high school)). Anyway, one of those days, he left his computer with me to download things Simpsons episodes and whatnot, so I thought: "Hey I want a copy of those", so over that same night, I copied the entirety of every completed episode he had onto my drive on the school network, somewhere in the order of 9 gigs. LOL. I put them onto my computer and deleted it the next day, but still! They still didn't keep any sort of quota for a while, we all kept some movies, and music on them, some games, and of course homework!

oh god your so lucky!!!! our school has recently put extra locks on everything!
1. we have no access to write to shared drives (appart from our own home drives of 30-50mb)
2. our whole states public computers are linked, via the same proxy server. every proxy imaginable is blocked, apart from one which i have found and will soon be blocked because of high hits its getting.
3. i used to use a proxy server from the tafes that were on the same network as our school, but they upgraded and need passwords now. (i have a friend at the tafe so he will give me his password) i shall then be able to get to macrumors and msn at least on their server because the students are older.
4. little rat kids are abusing the computer, they have reset the administrator passwords so now i dont know them and i cant get them (SAN's files cant be copied while the OS is turned on) i hate that. bloddy kids.

rumble rumble.

sorry lol

Been meaning to post my setup for ages and thought I best get round to it since my 18th is quickly approaching. This is my bedroom at home...

web.jpg

This is where I spend most of my time.
iMac G5 20" 2.1GHz 1.5GB RAM, 1TB total storage connected to Sony 17" TFT
MacBook C2D 2.0GHz connected to Sony 17" TFT when it's not on the road.

Other notable items include a Behringer UB2442FX mixing desk, Shure SM57, Tapco S5 studio monitors, M-Audio MobilePreUSB, Bose Triport headphones, iPod Photo 20GB, Powermate, iPod Shuffle Dock (iPod missing in action :( ) New Apple keyboard (i like), K800i, M-Audio Keystation 49e, EyeTV for DTT. Oh and there's a PC hidden under there, one of many from my darker years.

As you can see I am into music although it is very much primarily used for web development and browsing/general computer use.

Then looking the other direction to my beautiful new Samsung LE32R87BDX

Hooked up to all this gubbins

including:

- 'Hackintosh' (till I save for a 'Mini) running FrontRow, EyeTV, sixtyforce, Joost etc. controllable with the amazing Remote Buddy and a Wiimote.

- Nintendo Wii, GameCube, N64, SNES, NES. All maxed out on controllers for good multiplayer times.

- Wireless Sennheiser RS120 headphones for late night films.

- Canon iP4200

- Buffalo Linkstation NAS, Linksys WRT54G

Just about exclusively funded by working, taken at least 3 years to gather this lot together (got my first Mac, an iBook in July 2004) and it's finally reached a state where I'm with what it does and how it all integrates. That was until the new iMacs came out. It never ends.

Sweet UB2442FX dude. I have a UB1622FXPRO & a UB802.

First time poster; long-time lurker.

Here's mine:

I'm at home right now. Will be going to uni in about a month, I'll have to take this stuff there... :/ I've had the macbook for a year, I'm just worried about moving around my new 20" cinema display.

Anyway I'm usually never this organized... I wish my drawers weren't always filled with crap so I'd have room to hide the macbook and all those cords in them. Also, I know my speakers don't match with everything else... I wish I could find something that did but ultimately sound is more important to me. And yes, I've heard the JBL creatures and the Altec Lansing hi-fi speakers, but I do some mixing for my band so I need something more in the lines of studio monitor speakers.

Exactly how it should be as far as I'm concerned, I can't stand all these rounded speakers which look pretty but the sound is lacking, but no-one cares because it matches.

My Genelec 8030A's may not look like they belong with a Mac, but if you can find me a matching speaker set that'll out perform a set of studio monitors like these, I'll eat my own head.

I looked at a few of your photos, and it seems that you are not using the vga for the mac input, what are you using?? My vga connection is messed up and therefore everything is a blue tint, so i'm looking for an alternative for i've tried the dvi to hdmi and the picture isn't very crisp?? ALso, where did you get such heavy duty cables? Thanks

I'm using a VGA to DVI connector. I know most TV's do not cope well with a standard PC output sent through the HDMI but I chose this Samsung as it specifically offers this on one of the inputs. It even has phono inputs too so you can send the sound through the same channel.

Have you made sure the DVI output is the same res. as your TV? That could make it a bit better at least. Mine is running 1360x768.

The cables I mainly made myself (the phono, component, composite at least) using some RG59 Coaxial cable and Neutrix connectors. All works out alot cheaper than the branded stuff. Though it did take me a great deal of time to get it all soldered together.

Well, after a hastle with my rechargable batters that seem to be messed up/broken I managed to get two shots out of some Duracells I found. Sorry they're horrible.

I paid for the everything. Except the tv! :p Stole it from our living room for the night, and hopefully weekend. Watching Mr Bean in 720p! Its 2:48 so the lighting wasnt the greatest either.

and a shot with the lights out. Actually, no just no flash. I do have a lamp on that lights my room up nice and ambiently, but I was using a lower end camera and have weak photography skills so it didn't come out like it actually is, but anyways, enjoy. Sold the G3 iMac, getting a MB for university in a year. :p
