Is eye tracking new in this beta? Never seen it before and it seems quite useful.

How hard would it really be to let us set our own Dark Mode wallpapers separately?

Imagine this comes out and your (insert relation here) and they leave your RCS toggle off.. 🤣 …but we can’t do that because it’s system wide.. should be per contact. I like android users not knowing about my status of the text sometimes.

The slight edits I made to the control center on B1 were erased with B2. I half-expected this so I did not spend a lot of time customizing CC. Nor have I done much to the home screen, as this has created big problems in previous beta cycles.

Mine stayed the same.

The photos app really needs to be completely remade. It’s just an absolute mess in this beta.
Also I can’t save photos from Google.
Agree completely. They have to scrap this or else it’s gonna be another Maps fiasco.

The article lists of few specific carriers
I’m well aware.

“Right now, the ‌RCS‌ toggle only shows up for U.S. ‌iPhone‌ users who have a carrier that supports ‌RCS‌, which includes…”

The list isn’t exclusive and I meet the criteria. So they have failed to provide the caveat that actually there are plenty of US carriers that support RCS that aren’t in fact enabled. Ergo, the article is incorrect.

Some users appear to prefer SMS over RCS for some reason.
Over on Android, I've been part of the Google Messages beta program since before RCS. When they added it and people started using it, my messages cache started getting huge, with all the locally-cached gifs and custom images and stuff. Gigabytes instead of a couple hundred megabytes. So I shut it off for a while when my space was low, and now clean it out a lot more often.

I'm thinking about disabling RCS again, because I've noticed some spammers now use RCS, which means they may get more info (I disabled read receipts, but who knows what else is sent; I suspect there's some "profile" interaction, with avatar and name getting returned, where SMS is fire and forget). I've seen a few spams lumping me in groups with strangers, and that seems more complicated to get out of than before. Since RCS can be end-to-end encrypted, this means no carrier filters in transit can identify obvious spam/phishing in a message body and block it before it hits my app, either, leaving it (and me) to do more work.

Beta 2 and CarPlay has new icons on the sidebar and also arrows to switch between screens.
The icon view and the split screen have new smaller (too small in my opinion) icons.
The split screen now has a small rounded square icon that looks like an old iPhone button (?) wtf?
I wish there was a way to customize de split screen into 2 or 3 and shift the size like on an iPad.
Also, all the popups for WhatsApp for example are smaller, fatter and not as nice as on iOS17...
I would love an auto hiding sidebar feature like a Mac's dock as well...

The article does not say that the toggle shows up for *every* carrier which supports RCS. So it’s not wrong.
Also, relax, it doesn’t even work yet. It’s just a placeholder toggle at the moment.

iPhone Mirroring is not working in EU. It says iPhone Mirroring is not supported in your region.

All right, we’ve gone through hours and hours now, has anybody else gotten the RCS to work. I see a couple of mattering of people on various threads saying it works.

So glad they addressed the power button in Control Center. That was super irritating.

The new photos app is terrible. Just give us folders already and be done with it.

And give us “Folders on Top” in the files app already.
I agree, I don’t like scrolling up all the way or tapping just to select my photos.

CarPlay went back to the original home button it used to have that went away a few years ago. It’s funny to hear everyone in here confused about it, I guess everyone forgot the old school iPhone/iPad/iPod home button pretty quickly 😂

It’s still wrong. It doesn’t need to use the word ‘every’ to imply meeting the stated criteria means it should be displayed.

Just because I’m calling something out for being wrong, does not mean I’m not relaxed. The article needs to be clearer.

Well there are two levels of work:

1. It actually shows as a toggle.
2. You have the toggle and it actually functions as intended.

Which one are you?

Been running developer beta for the first time on my iPhone 12 Pro Max. I am surprised it’s running really good, it seems to have made boot up times more shorter.

The dark App Store icon and tinting wallpapers darker ain’t new tho.
At least I had both those things in beta one.
Oh iOS betas, how much I didn’t miss your inconsistency.
