has anyone noticed the hotspot options missing in beta 2?? I was using it fine in beta - yeaterday. In fact it was running much faster in beta 1 than iOS 17. But after updating to beta 2 I cannot find it.
Found it. They moved it into the Cellular menu… I figured it got moved.

Has anyone else noticed that when playing music from Apple Music, the volume defaults to the earpiece speaker as though you’re holding the phone to your head and not to the speaker. I had to actually select speaker from the control panel to hear the music playing. Even after doing that, the volume was lower than before. I submitted a description to Apple in hopes they fix this in the next beta.

Yes I've had this issue, not always due to Apple Music too.
After selecting speaker too, you then see two listings for iPhone. The top one is the really quite max volume, bottom one being nearly back to normal volume.

I should have clarified that the issue is not with Apple Music, but how they are sending music to the speakers. I have the SiriusXM app and tried it, and it did the same exact thing so the developers made a change that I don’t feel they thought through and need to tweak. In my opinion, when you play music, it should default to the speaker as before.

I believe it's just some issue with audio switching in general, as had it with scrolling a normal app and a video started to autoplay - it then triggered the quieter/ear piece speaker instead.
iOS does sometimes quieten other audio for certain things, it's like it's not auto switching back to full volume mode.

Shortcuts on iOS18 now seems to be working properly again. Actions such as Call Action were not available on Beta 1.

I actually had issues with CarPlay this morning. It was only playing through the front two speakers in the car, no amount of resetting and adjustment would fix it and randomly on the drive it suddenly rectified and came through all speakers, then crashed.

Didn’t have these issues in beta 1.

I did not have anything quite this serious, but there do seem to be some memory issues with CarPlay. If I have maps up and try to navigate (my car has a control knob), the audio stutters like crazy.

Scrolling the notifications on the locked Home Screen is working fine now with the Beta 2.
With the beta 1 it was a struggle .. :)

RCS is working.. and enabled. for me.

I can text and RCS my pixel 8 pro .

Typing indicators, , images, delivered, and read indicators all work. its LIT.

It also tells you that its using Text messaging - RCS

I had a similar thing this morning - several apps I tried showed as playing but audio either wasn’t audible or played out of my phone rather than the car speakers. A reboot of my phone seemed to sort it out, but I’ll see if it happens again next time I’m in the car.

Have they fixed reactions yet? I know when it was reported that someone hacked the first beta to get RCS working reactions were a bit messed up still.

So reactions from iphone to the android work well and put the reaction on the text message etc.

Reactions from android to the iphone work as expected for TEXT.

For photos reacted on the android the iphone will say so and so "reaction" to a photo.

Ok so it looks like they need to fix it for photo reactions, but since it works for text that's something that should be fixed as time goes on. I have a Samsung Galaxy, but a lot of friends have iPhones including family members so RCS will definitely improve our texting experience. Since you have both I'm sure you remember a time when both ways for everything it would say so and so "reaction to message. That was so annoying!

Hmmm ;)

it's the 17 year old icon... Too small and why recycle an old design? Can't the designers come up with something new and better? It's ridiculous...

I had to submit a bug report, it’s 100% repeatable for me. Interestingly - all speakers start playing normally as I arrive at my frequented destinations - I’m sure that this is just a coincidence for the 3 times in a row it has happened, but interesting.

I have a feeling THIS is going to be the beta that has quite a few notable bugs and issues...
You are correct. Beta 1 was fine for iPadOS 18. Beta 2 is crashing my M2 Pro a couple times a day and entire storage is used up with “Systems Data”. I even deleted 7 GB of movies I had download to Netflix, and as soon as I did, the “Systems Data” INCREASED and engulfed it, so have less space available AFTER deleting 7GB of movies.

There must be some other conditions because I see the toggle and I'm with a US carrier that supports it.
Mine works. I sent my buddy a .pdf (could never before) and a long video. I have T-Mobile. He also has T-Mobile.

Android users also have to enable RCS from what I’ve seen. I have a Galaxy 24+ I bought just to have and play around with Android. I specifically had to enable that feature when I first set up Google Messenger. Not sure if the default messages app on Android devices has it enabled, but Google Messages app definitely asked me if I wanted to enable it and use it.

I also don’t know that all Android phones support RCS. Android seems really inconsistent about updates and what phones gets them and when.

May not be on your end. Everyone’s settings have to be active and on top of that, it’s rolling out so maybe it just hasn’t gone live on your phone?

by accident i realized that with IOS 18 you can now record a video while the music app is playing, not sure if a new feature or a glitch (typically the music app is muted while the video is recording)
