I’m finding HomeKit more and more issue prone and I’m ready in my next home to find another solution. Apple just hasn’t been staying ahead of the game and others are getting tired of the games they play too. Probably contributing to the lack of adoption.
Yeah, when it doesn't work it hits the companies making Homekit products just as hard. Understandable that fewer and fewer opt in.

That’s possible lol. Allowing the ability to assign ownership would also also better interaction with Siri. Instead of saying “turn on/off Infinity Vortex’s bedroom light” I could say “turn on/off my bedroom light.”
Exactly, I have some stuff I don't want my kids to accidentally turn off.

iPhone mirroring doesn't work with a Wacom display or tablet...no clicks are registered. Only with mouse/trackpad in my experience.

iPhone mirroring is already transforming my job! As a web-developer leading a million dollar project, this beta could not have come at a better time. I was able to much easier debug the site we just launched today using the already great Safari inspector for devices in concert with iPhone mirroring.

It was so much easier than glancing between the Mac Safari inspector and the phone. Made an already stressful day just that much easier.

Article is wrong. I am on a U.S. carrier that supports RCS and I don’t have the setting.
I’m with Xfinity Mobile who uses the Verizon network and I don’t have the RCS toggle. That’s a bummer, I’ve been looking forward to testing RCS with several friends who use android devices.

I’m guessing it’s a Xfinity Mobile issue. Some US carriers may not be ready to support RCS on Apple devices.

I found an article from Beta 1 where someone had somehow been able to see the RCS code in there and it basically stated MVNOs are not supported. That code was on the Apple side, so there maybe some work needed in both sides.

I’d find it difficult to believe this won’t be widely supported at launch, at least by networks that currently support RCS.

I am running the Beta 2 with Verizon and T-Mobile and I am confirming that RCS is working for me with both carriers. Have had a few conversations with Android users and everything is working as expected with a few formatting issues when sending reactions.

iPhone Mirroring is not working in EU. It says iPhone Mirroring is not supported in your region.
I believe that its due to the EU’s Digital Market Act. Apple have disabled this on EU registered devices. Not sure if that’s based on SIM card or Apple ID if the later you could setup a US located Apple ID but that could also require the laptop to also be on same Apple ID. It’s the only function. In IOS that I was looking forward to. But being EU based looks like I miss out. Here is the article I read detailing the issue. https://nltimes.nl/2024/06/22/apple-postponing-launch-ai-products-europe

What kind of issues are you talking about? I'm very happy with the way everything works.

It’s AppleID on both sides. You need an US (UK or CH (Switzerland)) AppleID on iPhone and Mac running ios18/Sequoia
Region needs to be set to the same country, then it works. But is a big effort losing all Wallet entries )

HomeKit bulbs are changing brightness on their own lately. No changes to my system otherwise. Also seeing issues with my ecobee not connecting anymore. All Apple devices and systems rebooted. It’s sporadic now, but I’ve never had good reliable performance with HomeKit communicating to the lights. But when I use the hue app it works every time. Perhaps when HomePod OS is out and I can lock down the active hub that may help. But it’s very obvious how little Apple is pushing HomeKit anymore and I hear from companies when I ask about support like level that Apple is notoriously difficult and almost impossible to work with. So I think it’s several things.

This MacRumors article explains the current state of RCS support pretty well:

Here is the important part of this article:

...RCS support on the iPhone relies on Apple working with carrier partners to get them to update their bundles shipped with iOS. Right now, only a few carriers (such as AT&T and T-Mobile in the US) have updated their carrier bundles to support RCS on the iPhone.

Of course, there’s still time for more carriers to work on enabling RCS support on the iPhone by September, when iOS 18 will be available to the public. But at the same time, this means that most beta users probably won’t be able to test the new feature.

has anyone noticed the hotspot options missing in beta 2?? I was using it fine in beta - yeaterday. In fact it was running much faster in beta 1 than iOS 17. But after updating to beta 2 I cannot find it.

It would have been sent as SMS, RCS isn't active yet - just the toggle ready for it.
RCS is active for some. I am currently using beta 2 with it active on T-Mobile and Verizon in the US. Confirmed with Android users that it is showing up as RCS.
