Please Apple, developers or anyone with any connection if you are listening please give us an option to turn off or reduce the PWM/flashing of the iPhone X.

I know the people who don’t have the problem do not believe this but it’s bad. I know every release people complain about screen issues but this one is real.

Lower rate is more flicker however what he test doesn’t show as clearly is the depth of the brightness change. At 50% + the depth is much lower hence lower brightness variance than at minimum brightness. Apple is increasing the PwM rate at low brightness to compensate for the greater depth of brightness change.

I agree and just hope users are reporting the issue to Apple. Really loved the X and hated to have to trade it in for a 8+.

Apple just has to realize it is an issue worth addressing.

The lighting at your house looks a lot worse than the PWM of the iPhone display. Personally I use incandescent lighting at home for that reason — less eye strain and less blue light keeping me awake at night.

I’ve also returned my iPhone X because I use my phone a lot in dim lighting conditions, and the strobing effect strains my eyes. The black smearing also makes it hard to read text while scrolling. These effects are both much stronger under low brightness, particularly if “reduce white point” is used.

Not my house or video :). I still have hope that Apple will address this.

I plan on giving Apple a month to fix this. If they don’t address it, I’ll return my 256GB iPhone X and just buy a 64GB iPhone 8 or 8 Plus to hold me over until next generation which will hopefully use a flicker-free display.

No way they will change PWM dimming into voltage dimming I am afraid.
Other visible shortcomings will be present with voltage dimming. Like display uniformity

That’s why I’d be ok with an Accessibility option that comes with trade-offs. Or at least a software update that modifies the PWM’s modulation.

Yes, it can be modified or disabled but it will come with compromises unless Apple comes up with some ingenious way to switch to voltage dimming that masks the uneven brightness.

I think PWM has also to do with saving battery and burn-in. I really hope Apple will fix this, one way or another.

What kind of resolution? I haven't been able to find any kind of "fix" except for the Galaxy S7 kernel that removes PWM.
