You'll laugh, although I tolerate the iPhone 15 Pro Max well, I'm currently using the iPhone SE 2022.
I wanted to reduce myself somehow and see if I could handle the iPhone SE 2022. And it's just great.
The size, the technology, everything is completely sufficient. I don't watch any series or films on the display, so everything's fine.
It feels so good to have such a small, handy and completely sufficient iPhone in your pocket. I'm excited.
It can do everything I need and has incredible performance. A big advantage is that you are on your smartphone much less.
I no longer feel like following every technical advance that I don't actually need. I'll stick with the iPhone SE 2022 for the next few weeks.
I was so happy with the iPhone 6,6s,7,8 back then and now I feel like I've come home.
Even though I tolerated the iPhone 15 Pro Max well, the iPhone SE 2022 somehow feels better, I can't explain it.
Maybe it's the thought that I know that the iPhone SE 2022 doesn't flicker.
Agree with all of this. I've had my SE 2022 since it first came out and I keep going back to it despite FOMO-buying new phones every year(shame on me honestly, part of my participation in this thread is an attempt to hold myself accountable). I don't need anything "better" and I don't know why I'm so dumb I keep falling for the marketing every year. It meets all my needs and is a pleasure to use, it's what an iPhone should feel like IMO. This year I bought a 15. It's a really great phone that I can tolerate well enough, great for Pokemon days with the husband, but it's simply too big for every day and I definitely have buyer's remorse.

I have felt the urge to take a step back from technology in general for a while now, I even stopped wearing my Apple watch. I noticed it was causing some pain in the tendons in my wrist and once I quit wearing it, I'm not getting those jolts of pain in my thumb and pinky anymore. Plus there's just something so enjoyable about checking the time on one of my vintage Seikos or Chaikas rather than wearing the same uniform little glass puck that everyone else has ⌚

The jumbo phones are good in theory but too cumbersome to live with. Travelling around on the trains in London yesterday (a rare visit for work), all I noticed was everyone starring at their phones like zombies in every location. There wasn't enough room to swing a cat and yet people where holding these huge phones in their hands mindlessly watching tiktok videos or frantically messaging. The phones being so large you can see everything they are doing, zero privacy. No one is paying any attention to the world around them, it's no wonder people are having their phones snatched in public. The phone obsession is crazy to me now. Must be getting old....
It's crazy to me too. I actually get excited whenever I see another person using an SE or a Mini 😅 9 out of 10 people I see with their phone out in public have a pro max or some gigantic 7" Samsung. People stop in front of me in the aisle cause they need both hands to check their grocery list or send a text. Everyone says you'll get used to the size but I just can't, plus I'm not willing to carry a bigger purse just to fit my massive phone.

I have nothing against people who like phablets, but it makes me mad that it comes with the maddening side effect of companies discontinuing small phones and making their smallish phones bigger and bigger every year. iPhone 16 is supposed to be 6.3", and the next SE is rumored to use the 14 chassis 🤬

I really feel like I'm going to end up back on a flip phone once my SE dies.

You mean the galaxy flip? :)

The reviews on oneplus 12 are awesome. If we leave camera aside it’s on par with S24U.

At 2.50 another mention on the dimming tech. It’s obvious also side by side with oneplus 11 that 12 is not flashing at all.

The camera is excellent.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra can't keep up.
One Plus had already made a big leap with the One Plus 11.
The camera is now at flagship level.

Not flashing at all can be deceptive, as the rate could just be syncing with the camera.

I’d like to see this with an iPhone where it isn’t misleading, like with iPhone 14 Pro where it initially appeared not to flicker on camera. iPhone 15 Plus is on the brink of being usable, but then I eventually get migraines after use so it affects my daily life and makes other displays less comfortable. This is still distinctively better than any other flicker-afflicted iPhone, but not significantly or meaningfully enough.

Well the reviews of the One Plus 12 cameras are underwhelming so I’ll likely pass on it. Meanwhile the amazing camera system of the S24 Ultra has a screen already being criticized by sufferers. Are there any android US options? Admittedly I’ve not paid attention until now. I’m ready to make a move.

The camera on the One Plus 12 is excellent.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has the same problems as the S23 Ultra.
There are many video reviews that confirm that the One Plus 12 has an excellent camera.
Subjective experiences are not universally valid, even if they play an important role for you.
In addition, the One Plus 12 is a lot cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
The One Plus 12 is by far the better option than a Samsung smartphone, especially for those suffering from PWM.

Well the S24 series seems to have improved from the S23 series at least a bit according to this article from Nick Sutrich:

The OnePlus 12 screen is definitely better and I would like to have that, but it's their OS customizations and lackluster attitude towards security (I've owned a few of their phones) that have dropped them from my list, in addition to my Galaxy Watch having features that work only with Samsung phones. I wish we didn't have to choose between eye health and security.

These technologies were also present in last year's Honor Magic 5 Pro, but I never got to test it, I don't know if it was really something that was noticeable. The Honor Magic 6 Pro also includes it, in addition to the 4320 Hz, but we will have to test both terminals and hopefully one of these technologies will work 🙏

The Honor Magic 5 Pro had a PWM frequency of 1920HZ,
and the Honor Magic 6 Pro will have a PWM frequency of 4320HZ, more than twice as much.

Why can't anyone else but the Chinese manufacturers care about eye health? For their PWM dimming rates and DC dimming efforts I'd be more than willing to buy their devices especially when they are often also equipped with other hardware goodies such as insanely fast charging. However, when it comes to software, I'm not at all convinced that I'm willing to let my real data anywhere near their "enhancements" to stock Android.

I still remember how OnePlus advertised their "Secure Folder" for the OnePlus 5. It was supposed to be an encrypted area that you could only access with a passcode or biometric authentication, but in reality it was just a regular folder that was hidden from the default file manager (but not from any other file managers you could get from the Play Store) and the files in the folder had their real names swapped for some short checksum or completely random garbage. The actual file contents weren't encrypted at all, so they implemented maybe a third (and I'm being WAY generous here) of the bare minimum of what they promised and still decided to release and advertise the feature, potentially leading to some poor customer exposing their sensitive data to malicious actors when they thought it was encrypted as promised.

So yeah, I'm having a hard time trusting any of my data to a Chinese manufacturer's phone, which is a pity as those also seem to be the only manufacturers that actually care about eye health.

I'd try the Oneplus 12 if it was smaller and I had $800 😅
lol I hear ya. This feels cheap compared to the $1500 I shelled out for the PM. Man I miss that phone. It checked every box for me except one and that one has kept me from flagship iPhones for 7 years. I really don’t want to go android primarily because of iMessage, FaceTime, find my iPhone, and familiarity.

I loaded my mom’s iPhone 8 with some of my apps to see if i could live with a se3. It gives you a claustrophobic feel that you don’t have space to even respond in a forum message :p

Are you getting used to the screen ? What’s your experience when coming back to such a small phone. I am currently using iPhone 11.

I use the iPhone SE 2022 and sold my iPhone 15 Pro Max.
It's been gone since yesterday and I'm so glad I made this decision.
The iPhone SE is an excellent smartphone and the transition from 6.7 to 4.7 inches was very easy for me.
I had the iPhone 6,6s,7,8 and SE 2020, and now with the iPhone SE 2022, I feel like I've come home.
I'm now sticking with the iPhone SE 2022 and will only switch to MicroLED again.

The camera is excellent in normal light, the performance is excellent, the stereo speakers are excellent,
I just love it. And what's more, it's so handy and takes up hardly any space. I will no longer follow every
technical advance. The iPhone SE 2022 liberates me and as I already wrote, I love it.

Why didn’t you go with 11 ?

Battery lasts me 2 days.
The iPhone 11 was out of the question as I wanted the handier SE.
The SE 2022 will also receive updates for a few years longer.

But you were with max. 11 is not that big. But it’s heavy….
