Would be great to also get a breakdown of cost.

Was it a brand new Iphone you got? Obviously voids warranty when you open it up. I'd be tempted by a used phone and then if not happy would put the OLED back on and re-sell.

On your video you failed to drag down the menu 2 or 3 times on the 14+, guessing that was the awkardness of trying to video and operate the phones rather than a poor response from the corner of the touch screen.

Cheers once again for this.

UK
I received a quote for an LCD screen replacement from a UK chain shop called iSmash (I looked for this as I felt a chain would be invested in their reputation and not a fly by night operator), and one of their stores is near me. They quoted £169, 1hr worktime and would only tell me the screen is "classified as an Apple approved copy". I don't see how this is possible as it is an LCD for an iPhone 14 Plus that Apple never developed or installed. This raises flags for me especially as I cannot know the brand of display.

They also said that truetone will no longer work and I will have the non genuine part alert.

How long would the 'non genuine part' alert last?

Is it on every full power on?

Or does it just sit in the settings alerting you?

Regarding non-genuine part message, I saw something on Apple discussion forums that said:
These notifications don’t affect your ability to use your iPhone or your display.

You will see a notification on your Lock screen for the first 4 days that you use your device and in the Settings app for 15 days. After that period, you can find the notification by going to Settings > General > About.
I'm not sure if this is correct information or not, but that is what some user said.

I am very excited to hear back from DJ regarding my questions.

After talking with Elekworld, they said IC transfer is not yet available on the 15 model, but it is for 14. I am not sure if a display repair shop could do that, however.

looks really good

if you lower the brightness can you see them lines in slow mo

this looks so promising if this works ill get an iPhone tomorrow and the same screen

in reality I don't see why it would not work and alleviate eye strain

sometimes placebo can kick in and make you think oh no still got eye strain

please let us know how you feel
I just did a slow mo video with iPhone 11. No lines at all like on 11.

You are a legend.

Before we all go and buy these screens, I have a few questions if you wouldn't mind answering:
  1. Can you measure any PWM with this screen at any brightness level? (Using slow-mo, OPPLE, RADEX Lupon, Pulsar Illumination app, or any other way you have of measuring?)
  2. What features don't work? Face ID, for example.
  3. Why did you choose the JK screen instead of EK Pro, ZY, or the other panel options? I read that EK Pro was the best, but I'm curious about your take.
  4. Any reason we should be aware of why we couldn't get any other size (14 or 14 Pro, for example) besides the 14 Plus?
  5. IC Transfer/Transplant + TrueTone: This looks like it requires some work. You have to solder the IC chip and also program something to make sure TrueTone works. Did your installer do this? If you don't, you'll receive a "non-genuine" message on the screen.
  6. Any reason you didn't go with the 15 generation?
  7. For buying, Ali Express has all of these displays (including 15, I believe). Any reason to use the same seller you used?
  8. Anything special you had to tell the display swapper/installer?
GREATLY appreciated. I'd be happy to donate a little bit to you for all of your hard work on this as well.

I am talking with Elekworld regarding iPhone 15 displays. I will let you all know how that turns out.
1)sorry I don’t have those devices. It just how i feel. It’s going better than OLEDs and se 3 for now. No major issues yet.

2)Face id is intact on these screen change. Works perfectly fine, accurate and super fast. You can also program True Tone to work but it’s a procedure that needed to be done: put the chip out of the OLED, put it on the LCD and program it. My technician suggested me to not bother. To leave the OLED intact and be ready to be placed back for future resale….if i had to.

3)i didn’t know any of these screen codes. The eBay seller told me that among the screens he is selling, JK is the highest quality he can offer.

4) the company that builds JK displays haven’t yet created LCDs for 15 line. I also preferred 14 plus because of the bigger battery and to counter back the potential battery drain. LCDs draw more battery than OLEDs.

5)On the settings i got the message: display not recognised. No message for True Tone. This option is non existent.

6)answered

7)i ll post details about my eBay seller

8)just tell them to put the highest quality of glue when they assembly the screen. The better the glue the lower the device temperature.

Absolutely no donation. Thanks :)

I am a right hander and i was using my left hand. Also 14 plus was further to me and 11 closer to me. Zero issues with finger registration. It is faster than 11. Almost (I ll come back to this on next post) everything works fine…. double tap select text, trackpad mode etc.

My technician took 25 euros to just swap screens. With no True Tone transfer. You can view the cost of these screens on eBay. I ll post details.

Photo can’t do justice. JK incell a lot brighter than 11. I use it at 25-30% when indoors and around 70-80% outdoors. To be fair it doesn’t have many layers when adjusting brightness levels…. I mean the percentage is not accurate….. you wont see great brightness changes when going from 15 to 20% but between higher differences. But it’s brighter and that all matters to me.

Thanks for the time and expense of taking the risks.

I will be following you once the new Iphones are out later this year and hope other screens maybe available and also a good time to pick up a used device on the 2nd hand market to break open for the screen swap.

@DJTaurus, thank you for answering all of those questions and for giving us all hope! Please continue to update us on your experience with the JK Incell display for your iPhone 14 Plus!

I just talked to a few local installers and found someone who is aware of the IC transplant process. He said he has done it before and will do it for me.

I just purchased an iPhone 15 LCD Incell display from Elekworld (they have many YouTube videos). Their Ali Express shop is called "Speeder Store" (AE item # is 2251832766765199 for anyone interested). They sell the "EBR" version. Because they are a wholesaler, they sell 2 panels minimum quantity, but it's still affordable.

It will take a few weeks to ship to me from China. After I get it installed, I will, of course, let everyone here know what my experience is.

Is this photo at 100% brightness for each phone?

Have you noticed the additional battery drain in every day use?

Is the new iPhone 14 Incell display noticeably hotter (temperature)?

Are you UK based? I know of a couple of local repair places but would really like to find a reputable shop that will take on this with some expertise in the area too.

So here are my impressions:

1)Screen is thicker so I would suggest to put a case with higher lip and avoid ultra sim ones.
2)As i said screen is a lot brighter than 11. I have noticed that it has a purple tint. Text is crisp and no issues with resolution. Also to add that while watching videos it’s a lot better experience than 11 not only in terms of bigger size but the video seems more vivid and with clarity.
3)3d touch and finger registration is perfect. The only issue is when swiping with the back/forth gesture on the sides. On safari for example you must be precise to register it… click at the edge. On discord for example it’s fine. You don’t think of it.
4)Battery drain is almost non existent. For example with my 11 i was at 50% half the day. Now i am at 70%. Ok my 11 is at 83% battery health and 14 plus is fresh now. But it’s a good indication that consumption is pretty normal.
5)Auto brightness works but it’s not accurate. So i turned it off
6)I am on my second day of usage and no issues with nausea or headaches.
7)Those who will try this screen don’t put it near an OLED iPhone and be disappointed. It’s unfair. You should compare it with 11 or 8 plus to get a better indication of the screen.
8)After heavy usage it can get warmer a little bit but nothing to be concerned of. For example yesterday that i uploaded the YouTube video it happened. But after 2-3 minutes at idle it cools off. I want to monitor more when it happens. Yesterday we had 40 Celsius in Greece. Today it’s 35 and it didnt occurred. For example i am watching a basketball match now on a streaming app and it remained cool.

I don’t want to promote the Greek guy i found on eBay. I am just posting the link if anyone is interested. He is super responsive in DMs.

I contacted many shops from eBay and the Greek guy and the uk shop below were the most well commutative on DMs.

Both phones were at 50% brightness. To be honest small battery drain. Insignificant. It got warm the first day. Today it was fine.

When you take a slo-mo video of the screen at different brightness levels, does the video playback show any flicker or have lines like OLED displays?

I wonder if the thickness is less with the regular 14 size compared to the Plus.

I am in the US.

If the screen is thicker, does it create a raised edge you can feel and see?

Does the new gasket cover the edge of the glass?

I'll be honest, a flush screen which transitions into the phone body is important to me - aesthetically and feel-wise (I obsess about the small things). I do edge-swipe a lot, so your comment about Safari having slightly less response does give me pause for thought.
