iPhone 11 visual problems are different than the OLED iPhones but the root problem stems from the same evil pot of mayhem: flickering pixels, one way or another. Personally I can’t use an iPhone 11. Something seems very wrong with the display. It really bothers me (likely suspect- color dithering).

 has a love affair with flickering pixels. Devices that didn’t used to flicker, now do with newer software updates.
Is that with the newer iPhone 11? I bought my iPhone 11 back in 2019 and I’m still using it without any problems.

I took the leap of faith. Ordered a 14 plus and an LCD OEM. The seller told me that LCD needs more battery to work and it’s sth normal….. also that the battery consumption depends of the lcd quality you ll choose to buy. So i took the highest the shop provides and it is with the code JK (he told me that the highest priced LCDs are like using iPhone 11 in terms of brightness and color quality). He ensured me that 98% of the LCDs he has sold for OLED iPhones didn’t have any touch issues and that it also has to do with the panel quality (cheap OEMs more prone to have issues) and if anything is wrong it would be noticeable from first days of usage. At last he suggested me not to transfer the True Tone chip…. that it’s a lot work to be done and not take the risk to program it to the LCD panel….. and leave the chip to the OLED panel. So i ll keep you posted in the end of next week.

Fun fact: he doesn’t know anything of PWM. All the customers that put LCD are doing it to save money compared to even an OEM OLED.

I wonder how the screen looks in real. I assume the LCD screens need more space and the bezzels will be thicker? If so is the screen size smaller than 6.1 inch?

One seller told me it’s thicker and another one little bit wider. In both occasions nothing noticeable if you don’t know that the screen has been replaced. We shall see.

Awesome, best of luck. I just watched some videos on how to install a new screen and they do make it look easy if you have the right tools.

I did read this. I personally could care less for True Tone, but losing auto brightness would be a pain:

“Note: True Tone and auto brightness functionality are disabled after a screen replacement, even when using an original Apple screen. Face ID is also disabled unless the iPhone runs iOS 15.2 or newer.”

Seriously mate i wouldn’t care even Face ID wasn’t usable. I just want a modern iPhone with modern WiFi/5G and faster cpu. The last 2 months iPhone 11 has become slow on using/switching apps. Don’t know why……

But he told me no issues with Face ID. I will ask him again about auto brightness (fun fact i tried all the OLEDs with 90% brightness stuck so even this no issue…. you get used to it) but he didn’t tell me anything too. He only mentioned True Tone and it’s up to me if we are gonna try and move the chip to the lcd screen or leave it as he suggested to the oled….. because if it won’t work (pwm issues) then we just put OLED back as it was and giving it up for sale totally unharmed.

Keep us posted!! Sure hope it works well. I don't use TT or auto brightness anyway!! My 11 is on it's last lap too!!!

Sorry for the ping pong - are you taking it to a UK store? Which one? I'm now considering this myself.
No. I found an eBay user that sells these screens and specifically for 14 plus there are very few eBay stores that have LCD screens for that model. His location is in Greece so i contacted him because I also live in Greece and i wanted to have a direct conversation with him through the phone. I will share his eBay link only when i ll fit the screen and everything is working fine. I will upload a video too. I believe until Saturday i ll have news on how it went. Wednesday i am receiving 14 plus and Friday the LCD screen. The Uk shop i posted in a previous post was a little bit rude and uninterested to answer my questions.

I send direct pm’s to all the eBay shops that sell 14 plus LCDs. Only the Greek guy and the shop below responded to them:

This is the company for anyone interested to look at. They haven’t yet released LCDs for 15 series.

Hello all,

I thought I'd post here about an issue I've been having and see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

When I'm using the phone my eyes feel strained, like, they're trying to focus on the screen. Also, I've noticed that when I look away from my phone at something else, my eyes feel a little blurry and I have to blink.

Not sure why this is happening. I've tweaked with all the various displays settings (TrueTone/Night Shift/White balance), but nothing seems to make a real difference. Not using a screen protector.

Anyone else?
As you get older your eyes takes longer to adapt when looking at something at a close distance and changing to something far away. It is especially noticeable when driving when you raise your eyes from the instrument board to a sign further away.

I am very curious to see how this goes for you. This may be the last resort for some of us to stay with Apple iPhones.

Yes maybe a last resort but these are the same JK incell screens you get directly from Aliexpress. All of these and the variants will have problems with overheating, poor battery life, ghost touches and poorer colour. I have tried quite a few (EK, ZY, JK) on a 13 mini. In the end I was not happy with the quality.

FYI there are some YouTube vids demonstrating these screens

Even with those issues were they PWM free ?

Just did 15 mins of research. Seems like EK Pro is the best screen to use with iPhone 14 if you want to go that route. You're right, they are on AE and for very inexpensive prices. I would attempt it, but then I found something about "IC transfer" which involved some seriously precise work. Such a bummer. Like you said, the outcome probably wouldn't be great anyway. I couldn't live with ghost touches.

Really looking forward to hearing how its gone @DJTaurus. When is it being fitted?

If you have a positive outcome I will jump at the chance myself being in the UK.

While waiting for next week i contacted 4 shops to ask them their experience with lcd incells. They told me that lots of people with broken OLED iPhones put those screens because they don’t want to spend the money for even OEM oleds. And they reassured me that no issues with unresponsive touch has occurred and even that battery drain is minimal. They also give 6 month warranty. I am very curious to try that screen.

Did you choose 14 plus because that was you preference of phone size or because its easier for the screen swap etc?
