Huh? The XR doesn't have a smaller screen than the 7+. It's slightly thinner width-wise, but much taller.Oh wow. Heavier despite having a smaller screen? Sucks

The height doesn’t really matter, as if you are watching something in 16:9, it is restricted by the width. Also pixel wise it’s much worst.
Much??
Most users won't even notice the difference.
Let's wait and see
1920-by-1080 vs 1792-by-828(with the usable really restricted to 16:9, which means 1472-by-828)
This is 50% more pixels in the case of iPhone 7+
Considering that the XR may use the same PWM implementation as the G7, this is good to hear. Have you had any PWM related eye strain from the G7 at all?Have been using an LG G7 since Saturday night and have noticed an improvement
+1
The X was just great for me in size, a little bigger than my 7 (and heavier) but the all screen design justify the "effort".
The XR is going far beyond... I know we are talking of a few mm and grams, but everything counts.. and it's always more, a few more millimeters, a few more grams... more and more...
Having had the xs max and returned it, I think the OLED screen makes your eyes work harder.I too am really curious as to exactly what it is about apples implementation that appears to make it worse than other OLEDs
I snoozed and I lost on mine, I am now past my 14 days (21 days tomorrow) was close to returning it a couple of times but as it was on the upgrade program I never did.
Anyway I’ve not had headaches so thought I was unaffected but noticed at the weekend just how tired my eyes felt. Have been using an LG G7 since Saturday night and have noticed an improvement. I guess tiredness is less obvious than pain and it is anecdotal, could have been another reason entirely.
Wondering how much mileage I’ll get if I contact support? Doubt they’d offer me a refund now. The thing is I want to keep using an iPhone but that XR is just not grabbing me.
Only video content is likely 16:9
Browsing and apps are not and shows more/same on the XR.
For me I am done with the old design of the 8 and 8 plus.
Enable reduce white point 50% and increase by 10 till it doesn’t affect your eyes.
Don’t hold device close to your face when using Face ID.
These will help your eyes
Not really. You keep having this unused space at the bottom and top.
And if that doesn’t work just just put the phone case in the front and block the screen completely.
Yep, I never use my phone below that range anyway. So if the iPhone XR has the same display as the LG G7 (PWM at 40% or lower brightness), you all are still going to buy it?
Nope, these don't do anything. We've already tried everything software wise, and Face ID has nothing to do with PWM strain.Enable reduce white point 50% and increase by 10 till it doesn’t affect your eyes.

Unused space at the bottom?
Not for Safari etc.
I don't know what you're talking about.

Come on!!
Have a nice day.

Doesn't work, unfortunately. The X/XS lines all have PWM at every brightness level, there's absolutely nothing that can be done with the current software to completely fix the flickering.Curious if anybody has seen this. Is it really possible that there are optimal settings that minimise the impact of PWM? Could explain why android devices with the same pwm numbers do not affect people as much or also why some people have no issues at all on the X/Xs

was able to return my X after nearly 4 weeks last year.Wondering how much mileage I’ll get if I contact support? Doubt they’d offer me a refund now. The thing is I want to keep using an iPhone but that XR is just not grabbing me.
