I guess we'll find out soon enough. I'm interested in switching only if my Fan applies. If not it's not worth it for me. Once the plans go live, someone please confirm for the rest of us.

I still think there's a catch somewhere so I'm not holding my breath.

I have literally spent the last hour chatting online and over the phone with 5 different reps. Here are the results.

Three have said FAN applies, Two have said FAN does not apply. Not helpful at all.

Just wait until Thursday, until then just a waste of time.

The plan is live on my account online and it shows the FAN does apply! Just as they stated. 21% off of $115 base = $24.15.

Screen Shot 2017-03-01 at 11.04.35 PM.png

Looks like it is still updating because when I select it, it says tethering is prohibited.

They updated the fine print: "Discount applies only to the monthly service charge of qualified wireless plans, but does not apply to Unlimited Choice and Unlimited Plus data plans (except for qualified military personnel)".

But that doesn't explain why its telling me when I want to change the plan I see the FAN discount. Sigh, stupid AT&T.

Good job! Going to go try to switch!

I'm getting this: "Mobile hotspots aren't supported with this plan, except for eligible connected cars."

I don't know if that means no tethering, or if that means no sticking your SIM in a hotspot device. Kind of confusing wording. I don't want to switch over until I confirm, because I would be dumping my grandfathered UDPs.

Or it's perhaps somehow showing information for the current/recent unlimited plan (from the last couple of weeks), rather than the new one?

Its entirely possible, but the price is correct and when I click "view plan" it shows the $115 + $20 X 3 lines = $175, unlike earlier today it stated $60 + $40 X 3 = $180.

I'm chatting with AT&T to verify and she said the plans don't start till the 7th. Another useless rep.

I'm also getting the 'mobile hotspots only supported in cars' error:(

Thats the unlimited choice, right? If you click the plus it should go to the Plus.

I can't get confirmation about the error because I am being told the plan doesn't start till Tuesday. Sigh.

I guess I will just wait till 8AM to call AT&T. :/. But I am very interested in the FAN. Fine print says no, plan changer says yes.

Yes thanks for that. It was a bit confusing. Going to switch now and hope for the best!

You are already on a MobileShare right? Maybe test hotspot after you change over? Report back please!
I'm on UDP grandmothered. Switching doesn't work right now, the page just circles back to account screen if you try to add it. I'll try again tomorrow.

I really think the "Mobile hotspots aren't supported with this plan, except for eligible connected cars." means that its for actual hotspot units not using Tethering. They don't want people sticking their SIM card into a mobile hotspot.

Ahh okay. The person changed her story and said it just launched 45 minutes ago. She suggested waiting until the morning time. Better safe than sorry. I am also on grandfathered so I really don't want to mess things up.

It says 10 gigs of hot spot usage per month on their advertising page. It will include it, I think that, like always their system has not caught up with themselves yet.

Okay I have an update for everyone. I just chatted online with a rep and I called in to be double sure. FAN discounts do NOT apply to the new plans. Agent apologized previous agents were misinformed. She said since the plans weren't available they hadn't been trained yet. So if you have the old DIRECTV unlimited plan, it DOES apply. Do not switch over to these new plans because you won't be allowed to go back to the DIRECTV unlimited plan. So I guess you can say we have a grandfathered unlimited plan.

And yes, I have a 57% discount in addition to being able to still do contract upgrade for 1 year...you read that right. 1 year, not the regular 2 year contracts.

Wow so I have a grandfather udp and 23% fan I wonder if the new plus plan is worth losing the FAN ? Seems that you get more with the new plan

So you wouldn't "loose" the FAN discount. What would happen is that the FAN discount would not apply but will be active in your account until you can use it for a new (future) plan or any other available plan (other than the plus and choice).

I confirmed this with a rep.

I went in to change my plan to at least see the price difference. It does not even offer the unlimited plans like it did yesterday. Only the mobile shared plans? Again, I am wonder if their system is overloaded or glitchy.

Same here. I currently have unlimited with DTV service, but don't see Unlimited Plus or Unlimited Choice as plans to choose from.

And to make things interesting, the new web page advertising the unlimited plans says the following, which sure sounds like FAN discounts are being honored:
Qualified Military & Veterans will receive a savings of 15% on their monthly plan charge.

To get started, first check your eligibility for additional benefits with the AT&T Signature Program through your employer, school, or an association.

Check eligibility
https://www.att.com/plans/unlimited-data-plans.html
(scroll down almost to the bottom of the page)
This sure sounds like we're being told to check for a better than 15% FAN before trying to use the Military discount.
