I broke my iPad Pro and have not and don't intend to replace it, I have a M2 Max Mac book and iPhone 15 pro and that will do. I can't justify the $1000 + cost of replacement.
I’m thinking the same thing, having my next iPhone be a Pro Max. I may even go as far as removing my MacBook from my ecosystem at that point. I regularly use a bluetooth keyboard (and occasionally mouse) with my iPhone. It does everything and sometimes more than what I do with my MacBook. The mouse isn't required but makes working with spreadsheets and text editing a lot easier and faster. For me it’s 100% a consumption device. My MacBook does all the heavy lifting. And I’m thinking of getting a ProMax next time I upgrade my iPhone. With the bigger screen size do I really need another similar device that’s only a few inches bigger?
Kudos to all the creatives and people who use iPad as their main device—the new M4 iPP is a great machine. But I’m thinking of maybe simplifying my ecosystem and getting rid of this thing, that took me twice as long to type these paragraphs on as it would have on my Mac, lol.
I’m faster on the phone than when I put my iPad in landscape and try the keyboard. It’s much easier to move my thumbs quickly across the tiny surface, than to correct the multiple missed keystrokes that happen because of glancing blows or because I tapped two keys too rapidly.I see people speed typing on their phones and am amazed. But I'm old ...

But I’m still far faster on a physical keyboard than in my phone.
It took me many years to accept the iPad for what it is and find a way to work with it, but I'm glad I now have; it's justified itself both in use and cost.
Do you not use the Magic Keyboard then? For me it’s 100% a consumption device. My MacBook does all the heavy lifting. And I’m thinking of getting a ProMax next time I upgrade my iPhone. With the bigger screen size do I really need another similar device that’s only a few inches bigger?

Sounds like you’ve achieved my ideal state, nearly. I’m just waffling on the 11” vs 13” and waiting for the Studio to offer Thunderbolt 5.I hated my 12.9 iPad for a long time because it was a powerful but restricted device due to the OS. I preferred to use a laptop when moving, so the iPad was a costly content consumption device. That has changed.
I took the time to understand it and work with it. It's not perfect by any means, but it now does everything I would typically use a laptop for when on the move. Any other time, I am at my desk at home and have the Mac Studio, and the iPad sits on a stand. It is used for tasks that I don't want to see on my desktop, and that causes distraction from what I am currently working on.
It's still used for watching things and general browsing, but it is so much more now. Before, I also had a laptop to compensate, but now I don't—just a Mac Studio and an iPad. My iPhone is used as a phone (to speak to people), a camera, and nothing more.

Glad you posted this info. I wasn't aware of this feature.I just got a 10th gen ipad a few weeks ago after not having one for many years. I found what I'm using it most for is as a compliment to my Macbook. It's so easy just to stand it up right to the side of my Macbook and move my curse over to it to control it (along with using the keyboard on the mac to type on it). Using that feature way more than I thought I would because it didn't exist last time I had an iPad.
Weird I just went from a Remarkable 2 to an iPad Mini6. The Remarkable 2 is an amazing device for what it does but suddenly when I put a paperlike screen protector on a Mini 6, it does pretty much the same for note taking and there is a whole lot more on an iPad mini: Safari, ToDo lists, Netflix, Spotify etc etc...I'm replacing mine with an e ink tablet
Still use the ipad sporadically for procreate and comics ...but yeah truth be told I tried hard to force myself but never could get into it and the whole workflow thingie. I prolly use it 4h per month. Worst investment ever lol
It doesn't feel good for writing . It has bad battery. It doesn't feel rly good for reading (compared to e ink that is) . It is severely limited in so many ways. Most creative stuff apart from drawing (video editing , photo editing , music ) I'd rather do on my Mac .
It does a lot and yet it doesn't do much, at least in my case . Jack of all trades and master of none. The paper like ****s text clarity sadly last I check and eats pencil tips like a 1k horses car drinks gasoline . And don't get me started on batteryWeird I just went from a Remarkable 2 to an iPad Mini6.
