Reading this is already making me doubt my decision to go from 13PM to 14Pro

If it were me I’d stay with the max size. I always had bigger phones then tried the 12 pro. Sure for a bit it was nice that it seemed to disappear easier into my pocket but it was still a heavy phone. I then got a 13 pro max and realized the perks of that nice big screen and battery life were so worth it and glad to be back to the bigger phone.

Regarding the weight between the two sizes of pro phones, something I was just commenting about in another thread, the regular pro almost feels heavier to me because it’s a smaller size yet still has a good amount of heft to it. The max just feels bigger in the hand so I think my brain just expects the amount of weight it has so it doesn’t really feel heavier (if that makes sense).

Is the battery life that different? I know the max obviously has a bigger battery but it also has a bigger screen. I’m quite a light user easily getting over 48 hours on the 13PM, I get similar on my work SE2 so anything in that ball park and I’ll be happy

Went with the regular pro, upgrading from the X, so The battery life should be better and with my usage my battery usually last to the end of the day.

I've owned only the largest iphones since the 6 Plus and I regretted going from the 7 Plus to the X as I wanted FaceID and Apple didn't make a plus size version back then (technically the X had a bigger screen on paper, but in real world use it's skinnier form factor felt smaller). It was my most disliked iphone. Was only too happy with the XS Max came out.

Yeah there was a noticeable difference to me (even with screen time) but the regular pro still made it through a day for me without issue. Sounds like with your usage you’ll be fine.

Went from a 12 Pro to 13 Pro Max. I did it for the battery life. Took some time to get used to the weight and size, but I eventually acclimated to it. It doesn’t bother me at all really.

I’ve only used the Plus/Max sized phones because they had the better camera. The X was the perfect size for me as the regular Pro is slightly larger than I like but much better than a Max.

Switching from a 12PM to a 14 Pro and can’t wait to go down in size. I have an iPad Mini that I use if I want to consume content.

I've seen a few threads about going from smaller iphone sizes to the big boys but I'm actually considering the opposite. I've been getting plus and pro max size phones since they started being offered during the iphone 6 era however since the iphone 12 pro max the weight and flat edges just make the phone more difficult to use.
I was able to make the 12 pro max work by getting a soft leather case so the flat edges wouldnt dig into my skin. 13 pro max same thing but the weight is also becoming an issue. With the 14 pro max I will again have to use a case even though I dont like to and the weight is increasing yet again.
Conversely as everyone knows going to a pro size phone means less screen size and less battery.
For anyone who has gone from plus/pro max sizes to regular pro sizes can you please share your experiences? Did you end up going back or were you able to live with the change?

Tnis question could also be asked of iPhone XR, 11, 12 and 13 users, all of them having a 6.1” screen, but now with an option with the same 6.7” screen as the pro. Is anyone thinking of going from one of these older phones to the new Plus model? Or more interestingly are any Pro Max users going to the 14 Plus because it’s significantly lighter?

For me personally, it came down to the fact that I don't watch movies or videos or anything on my phone. I have a lot of larger and better options for consuming that content. Sure maybe the odd video here or there on a lunch break but the trade-off of having to carry around a considerably larger phone every single day just isn't there for me.

I think women who carry their phones in bags maybe don't have the same consideration but for me the bulk in my pocket isn't worth the extra .6 inches of screen real estate once or twice a month when watching a video so rarely.

EDIT: My progression I believe was something like 5s > 6 Plus > 7 Plus > X > Xs Max > 11 Pro Max > 12 Pro > 14 Pro

Being forced back to a smaller phone with the iPhone X kind of put things back into perspective for my use case personally.

Currently have a 13PM for personal use and a 12 for work. Decided last minute to go with the 14 Pro this time. If I hate it I have 14 days to return. But, I doubt that I will because I feel that the PM is just too heavy for me. Before going to the PM I used the 13 Mini for a little bit. I decided to keep the Mini just in case but it spent the entire time in the drawer. So, I'm thinking the 14 Pro being the in the middle option will be better for me. I will only miss the battery life of the PM but that only matters to me when traveling and I haven't been traveling much due to other priorities.

Because of the slight dimension changes both the Pro and Pro Max should feel a little lighter this year but I'm not sure how perceivable it will be once in the hand.

I had the 11 Pro, was a great form factor for me. Then switched to 12 Pro Max, because it had better camera. Then I stayed on the 13 Pro Max and battery life is simpy crazy. I do miss a smaller form factor, so I ordered the 14 Pro.

I only worry about battery life. On 13 Pro Max I stopped taking battery backs (and sometimes also chargers with me). Two days easy. Screen is nice on the Pro Max, but I rarely watch movies, for reading this simply means a bit more scrolling.

Can someone compare 13 Pro Max and 13 Pro in terms of battery life in practical use?

My iPhone 13 Pro has a Ok battery. It lasts nearly 1 day. Not more.
This year, I want a bigger display and a better battery

After going plus size with the 6, I went back to the normal size 8. For me, the cons of the smaller phone outweighs the pros. I have big hands, so handling the max with one hand is fine.
I just missed the bigger screen, especially as I get older and my eyes get worse! Went big with the XS Max and been there since.

Is battery life really a big concern in 2022?

I have fast chargers upstairs and downstairs, in the car and even a powerbank. Plug the phone in and it will charge from 20-50% quicker then you can finish a shower or meal. :)

Holding a heavy phone sort of sucks. That’s why I love MagSafe. I have a magnetic pop grip and when necessary, I use it. It makes holding a larger phone much, much easier. And I can remove it when I don’t want to be rocking a pop grip.

I haven’t held a phone for more than a few minutes without a pop grip of some sort in almost 5 years.

Perhaps get a 13 mini, which would feel ridiculously small. Then in six months trade it in on a 14 pro...which would then feel gigantic!

;)
LOL this is what I’m doing. I planned to get a max this year, but after having the 13 pro and switching to a 13 mini in the spring, I’m going for a regular pro. I feel like getting a max at this point would kill me.

In all honesty, I adore this mini. I sold my 13 pro figuring I’d use it for a while, and if I loved it I’d just keep it, but I have always been in the “dislike the notch” camp, and swore I’d get the first phone without a notch, so here I am. I do struggle a little with typing on the mini, which would be a non-issue if talk to text wasn’t so awful, but I am sure I’ll miss having a small, lightweight phone.

This is a good point.

It's just about workflow. I charge the phone at night, wired, never considered charging it during the day. But yeah, a couple of MagSafe chargers and that's it.

I am an early bird and sometimes up from 0500-0600am. Therefore, regardless of what phone I have, I will at some point during the day have to charge it.

I got a charge by the kitchen counter, within arms reach where I sit in the couch and sometimes my battery bank is nearby wherever I am.

Have 3 fast chargers + cables in the house and you won‘t have to conciously think about charging.
