screenshot?

I've been futzing around in the options and changing views. I'm not sure if I changed something, but it looks good now. I'll have to check again later around the time I posted that message, and the colors have changed.

Two things:

1. Why is the red line area so tall, it cuts into your view of webpages and is definitely bigger than it was in Catalina for no reason.
2. What is this black line transition above Safari all about, shouldn't Safari cover this up?

Yes, that’s the one. Ironically, seeing it here makes it look much better ?

It’s a matter of getting used to it I guess. Don’t forget that this kind of reaction happened again and again in the past (iOS7 for example) and after a few refinements and updates people started to prefer the new look than the previous one.

I’m sure this will be the case for Big Sur too !

I agree, overall I like it but there's definitely some areas and icons that need polished and improved. The battery icon looks terrible in settings, launchpad looks out of place like it was a work in progress and someone accidentally signed off on it. Calculator icon looks blurry.

They’ve made macOS more suitable for touch input. And abandoned mouse and keyboard users.

I’ve no idea how this got past basic design checks.

The OS looks like a proof of concept / work in progress.

Hmmm. I like it. And I usually complain and moan about every new OS version. ?‍♂️
I just like it. It’s nice and clean and modern looking.

The bar under the toolbar that's says BBC, Parler etc, can you get rid of that bar or is it permanent?

Was on Mojave, installed Big Sur, didnt like it, somehow font was blurry, even with this

defaults -currentHost write -g AppleFontSmoothing -int 0

so went back and installed Catalina. I found the big head in Safari exhausting to look at, same as with the new icons. Maybe you get used to it with time, but for now no thx, Big Sur is just not for me.

This may be the first mac os release in a long time that has an extremely fast UI. Maybe the last release like this was Snow Leopard or Leopard.

Everything from mouse selection to menu scrolling to folder opening is snappy. They probably did rewrite a lot of the old Finder code.

Used Photos, it's 10 times faster than Catalina. Noise reduction applies instantly, preview updates instantly when I use any slider on 45MP RAW's. It's insanely fast. My 2017 iMac never felt this fast.

I'm sure there will be some issues here and there, but in terms of UI speed and general responsiveness, this is the best release in a long time.
I wish I had your experience. My year old Mac stutters at simple things like resizing a Finder window.

Do you like Catalina more than Mojave? I am currently in Mojave but always held off on updating to Catalina because of the bugs and crashes.

Been using it for like 2 hrs, but for now, i haven't noticed many differences, to be quite honest. It runs smooth for now, i'm on MBP 15 2015.

Trying to reinstall Catalina now. They don't exactly make it easy to boot from a bootable drive do they. I've had it with Apple.

That's not the point. Most of us like to keep our OS current so we can enjoy all the newest features and improvements. You either move up or stay back forever. But we don't have to like everything do we?
You lost me on that, you seem to be answering a question I didn't ask.
